Simon Kenton/Highlands Predictions
SK WILL make it further in the playoffs because when Highlands meets CovCath in the playoffs CovCath WILL win. SK will either go down in the Semi's or the Finals this year HOWEVER we are not talking about the playoffs. This thread is about what will happen on Friday night in Ft. Thomas and according to the numbers this will likely be a bloodbath in favor of SK. If I'm wrong I'll eat crow rather than makes excuses like a not-to-be-named SK fan on here.

Simon Kenton/Highlands Predictions
Believe me, nobody looks past the Birds after the beatings that they handed people over the years. I would imagine Coach Marksberry would fall under this as well. He took some beatings at the hands of Highlands as a player at Holmes. I'm quite sure that he isn't forgetting that and is relishing the opportunity to give it back tenfold. And I'm here to tell you that if your contention is that Highlands looked past Ryle to X and got beat by Ryle 50-14 then if they didn't look past Ryle it would have only been 42-20. As Chris Berman and Cris Carter say, "C'MON MAN!!!"

Simon Kenton/Highlands Predictions
The numbers are the here and now. 2016. This is a "What have you done for me lately" kinda world. Prior to 2016 meant nothing when the whistle blew for the opening kick on the first Friday night of the season in 2016. I could care less either way as I have no stake in the games anymore but the facts and numbers in the here and now don't lie.

Simon Kenton/Highlands Predictions
Mark Twain stated, "Figures don't lie but liars figure." The dreamers who think that Highlands will be even remotely close to Simon or even to getting past CovCath in the playoffs this year fit this statement well.

Kentucky Football AP Polls
I would say that they should be ranked ahead of Holy Cross due to strength of opponents but their record and the beatings they took at the hands of Cooper and Belfry doesn't help their cause. We will see how it shakes out during district play and the playoffs but I think HC is a better team this year head to head.

Simon Kenton/Highlands Predictions
So let's try to make this about common opponents. Simon has played Cooper but not Scott County so this may be a little flawed but not completely. Cooper scored 42 points against Highlands which is their average allowed. Simon gave up 20 to Cooper in a 26 point win. Given that Highlands gives up 42 points a game and allowing for 33% curve, that is where I came up with the 48 points. I don't care if Cooper's feelings are hurt. The numbers don't lie and they just got stomped on Friday night. Scott County is averaging 39 points per game over 4.5 games. (Had to throw the Lafayette halftime score in there). That is 5 less than Simon per game. They scored 42 against Highlands and allowed 33. Scott County is allowing an average of 25 points per game. Simon is allowing an average of 16 points per game and has not allowed over 14 points in 3 of them. The only common opponent for SK and Highlands is Cooper. Allowing for a 33% downward curve since SK has a visibly better offense, Highlands scores 13 points. I don't care what Scott County thinks. The numbers don't lie.

Simon Kenton/Highlands Predictions
Highlands averages 28 points a game and gives up an average of 41. They haven't seen the likes of the Pioneer offense, except for Ryle who they gave up 50 against. They haven't seen the likes of the Pioneer defense with Kincaid, Carter, Mueller, and Trattles, except for maybe St. X who only let them score 14 points and that was against the 3rd string. Better re-evaluate that prediction. I'm thinking 48-13 with the 13 coming in the JV portion of the 3rd and 4th quarters.

Simon Kenton/Highlands Predictions
What makes me laugh is the we are already on page 4 of a prediction thread for a game that is likely going to get very ugly very fast. Wonder how long this one will run.

Beechwood/Holy Cross Predictions
Beechwood youth and speed on defense loses out to Holy Cross size and experience on offense. Holy Cross over Beechwood 32-13.

St. Xavier 45 Highlands 18
My kid played QB from the time he was 8 until his Sophomore year. I thought he would be the next Joe Montana. He came to me and said that he wanted to move to defense going into his Sophomore year. I sucked it up and told him that he should do whatever his heart told him. (I'm not gonna lie. I was disappointed and a lot stunned). He ended up finishing up his high school career as a linebacker and played every down of every game he played from Sophomore year through Senior year. He told me a year or two ago that that was the happiest he had ever been playing ball. DOING WHAT HE WANTED TO DO!!! When switched it was like a huge weight had been lifted off of his shoulders. My point is that maybe, just maybe, this jerk needs to let his kid decide what he wants to do and daddy needs to keep his mouth shut. Mr. Marinovich is apparently alive and well at FTH minus the weight lifting and vegetarian diet.

Simon Kenton 30 Cooper 0 (JV)
SK has not lost a JV game in 3 years according to some boosters. This tells me 2 positive things about their program. One is that they have built a strong feeder for the varsity squad. The second is that they have a ton of talent in the future coming up.

Holy Cross (Covington) 27 Scott 0
I might be wrong but I don't think they ever have beaten Beechwood. Not even the State Championship year of 2011. There is a first time for everything. This is the Indians' best shot.

Holy Cross (Covington) 27 Scott 0
Good to see the Tribe roll. Granted it was against a down Scott team. Guess we'll see what they have next week against Beechwood.

Holy Cross/Scott Predictions
This could get ugly fast for the Eagles. Payback for the last few years.

Will CovCath rout Beechwood or is this a trap game for the Colonels?
Still not confident in the Colonels and Beechwood is undersized and young but very well coached. I say this one is a 3 to 7 point game and down to the wire.

Very well said and one million percent true.

You stated that many of them opt to stand on the sideline and hope for a state championship. That may be somewhat true but I know for a fact that many if not most of these kids who have open enrolled are big time contributors across all 4 grades and starters in their respective sports. I just posted a response to a similar post so you can add that to this post. Reputation is something else to think about. When Scott stops taking kids who have been kicked out of Holmes (I know of 6 there this year) maybe parents will feel more comfortable keeping their kids in Scott.

Not getting anything in a bunch. There are absolutely kids on the SK roster who have open enrolled at SK. The kids don't necessarily make the decision to open enroll and there are many reasons why parents may make the decision to send there children elsewhere up to and including academics. Right, wrong, or indifferent Scott does not have the best social or academic reputation either. These factors come into play when parents decide to fill out the open enrollment paperwork. Don't just think it's for football.

Simon Kenton 52 Dixie Heights 12 (JV)
No real players of the game in my opinion. SK was up 20-12 at halftime and then poured it on in the 2nd half with a total team effort.

Simon Kenton 43 Dixie Heights 14
Your disrespect for SK is getting old and tired. A bunch of 15, 16, and 17 year old kids beat another bunch of 15, 16, and 17 year old kids in a game mandated by the county school system. We've all heard it before. Let them enjoy the win. I suppose if SK beats Cooper, who everyone says is God's gift to football in NKY this year, we will all have to read your old tired SK hating posts. Just move on.

It's always SK's fault. Heck. I bet SK had something to do with Watergate, Jimmy Hoffa, and the Kennedy Assassination. Why don't we just agree that the Eagles graduated a ton of Seniors and talent and are very young. They'll be better in a couple years.
