  1. It really doesn't matter at this point, but Bowling Green is the clear #1. Their week one can't be compared to anyone else's week one. Basing the ranking on anything else doesn't make any sense.
  2. I think based on the pre-season rankings and the results of Friday night, it crystal clear BG is the #1 team in 5A. Could change going forward for sure, but based on those two things. No doubt.
  3. Great write-up as usual. I agree with everything in this post. Did you get to go to the game?
  4. Okay, first of all I owe Bowling Green an apology. I was way off on my score prediction here. I feel like I need a self imposed one game suspension from picking scores. Horrible on my part. On the other hand, Bowling Green looked really strong and St. X didn't look as strong as I thought they would. If BG doesn't have a bunch of silly mistakes they probably win 28-0. The play calling tonight from BG coaches was spot on. The Purples dominated up front on both sides of the ball, which surprised me. Conner Cooper looks really good, especially throwing on the run. Great offense drives and work by the Purples. Lots of play makers, great running backs and O-Line was strong. BG's speed just ran all over St. X tonight. BG's defense which was supposed to be their weakness because of their youth was very, very solid tonight as well. They really stepped it up making up for some of the BG offensive mistakes. Can't wait to see what happens next week against PRP.
  5. That's not even the official radio broadcast. If you want the Facebook video broadcast feed with official radio broadcast it will be on D93 WDNS Facebook.
  6. I see SW is still scheduling these top non district opponents. I'm sure they'll get some headlines for it too.
  7. I think schedule will be factor. Bowling Green has got to lighten up on a schedule a little bit. I am not saying for them to play a bunch of no bodies but they need to lighten up a little bit. I realize this year is different due to COVID, but to open with St.X, PRP and South Warren is bad. And to play Trinity so late is not good either. Least they added Hopkinsville after it. I don't know how far in advance these schedules go out, but when some of these contracts are up BG needs to take at least two of killer games off the schedule.
  8. Great season for the Purples. They came a long way and getting to the final four isn't easy. And considering where they started the year, great season. They should be proud of it. Covington Catholic was just a better team. Their QB and Ol were by the far the reason they dominated tonight. They were the complete difference. Sometimes you just run into a better team and that's what happened tonight. BG is one offensive player away from being a great team and possibly playing for a state championship. But I knew their offense would kill them tonight and it did. But it was even worse than I thought. I predicted 28-7 as the final score and BG couldn't even sniff a score until the end. They just had nothing going. They kept running the same plays over and over. Never tried to throw it down field, never really even tried to throw medium passes either. Terrible play calling, terrible execution. The offense just couldn't go anywhere. I thought the coaching staff should have made the QB change coming out of halftime down 14-0 with the ball. It was obvious the entire first half Cooper just didn't have it and couldn't make it happen. They needed to try something and take some chances. Great win by Covington Catholic and a really nice facility.
  9. We are leaving Bowling Green around noon today to head to Covington Catholic. I still don't see a way for BG to pull this one out. I think the offense just isn't good enough and they make too many mistakes. I think the offense will out the defense in too many bad positions. I don't think it will be a blowout, but I think I a too much for BG. 28-7 Covington Catholic
  10. The BG crowd at South Oldham was enough to fill the visitor stands completely with a group standing on the track too. But those stand were pretty small. I would expect a similar number Friday.
  11. They've played Cov Cath, twice, Highlands twice, Lexington Catholic Twice, Anderson County once, Cooper (I think) and Pulaski twice. I think this correct.
  12. That's pretty bad. BUT is there any chance he was trying to protect the cheerleaders or anything? Did the guy go over and help the kid up or anything? If not, that's pretty serious. You could argue law enforcement should be get involved if he was doing that for no reason. AWFUL.
  13. Looking over CC's schedule and the one thing that gives BG hope is that Highlands and Lexington Catholic were able to compete with them. And a lot of the other teams CC beat weren't that great. So Covington Catholic just doesn't seem unbeatable to me. But I think with Tisdale's injury and lackluster offense that makes mistakes, I just don't the Purples have enough in the tank to pull out a win.
  14. A lot. I believe South Oldham had BG radio people sit outside. A lot of high school press boxes don't have space. But a lot of them, but they all want their buddies and wives to hang in there instead
  15. What a win for the Purples! Thought South Oldham came in ready to play. And their offense did a much better than I thought they would for an option offense in today's game. It was tough to defend cause they would throw a lot of different things out there. But boy did South Oldham make a lot of mistakes offensively. I'm sure they are kicking themselves this morning between the bad snaps and fumbles. Wow. BUT BG found something in the second half with the run game. After a ton of mistakes the Purples starting pounding the ball right at South Oldham and they couldn't stop it. The thing is, Bowling Green is not North Bullitt or Bullitt East or Seneca. No disrespect to those teams, but South Oldham hadn't seen a team anywhere close to BG's caliber all season. The Purples are going come at you for four quarters, play by play, blow by blow, minute after minute. And that wears on most teams. I think South Oldham just got wore down defensively and the Purples were able to just pound the ball on the ground, go away from the passing game and put the game away.
  16. It will be a tall task for Bowling Green. The Purples have found a way to scrap it out in the final weeks to find ways to win. And that's important and that's what matters. Looking at CC schedule I would have said BG had a decent chance. However with the reports of Tisdale having broke his hand last night, that's just too big of a loss on the road to a team of this caliber. Plus the BG offense sputters too much and makes too many mistakes. This feels like a 24-7 win for CC.
  17. I think you've got on a large part of it. Our society works a lot and there is so much going on these days. Youth sports especially. Their schedule anseems to have increased 10 fold sense I was a kid in the early 90s. I don't have kids but I have a lot of friends who do. It seems like they are always running themselves ragged taking their kids to youth sports stuff almost on a daily basis.
  18. Just arrived in the South Oldham High Scho area from Bowling Green. Stopped in to Rooties for a pregame meal. I wanted to get in before the Friday afternoon Louisville traffic. Glad the rain has moved out. Looks like it might be a a little chilly so brought the winter gear with me. Hopefully the field isn't too wet, but the roads and everything is dry now. Looking forward to the game. And my food getting to my table!! Save travels to all heading up.
  19. Anyone from the South Oldham area have any restaurant suggestions that are close to the high school?
  20. The bracket on KHSAA has The BG/South winner facing the Owensboro/Fairdale winner.
  21. My official prediction is 24-17 Bowling Green. Purples advance to play at Owensboro.
