  1. Let us not forget that BG was up 17-0 and CC starting blitzing like crazy. They had some success with it.....for about a quarter. BG made some adjustments and won the game. Also coach Wallace took blame for not preparing his team for that. That won't happen again. At no point did I feel Owensboro had any chance to win the game. I didn't feel like they were successful very much at all on defense. But the key is if you can get pressure on Clark, the entire game, it can certainly have a major impact. I don't know much about Fern Creek, but if you get this far, you have to be pretty good. The game is a road game for BG. I say BG 35-21.
  2. I will also be making the trip to Louisville for the game! Can't wait.
  3. Drury Inn is not bad at all. It is located right by the interstate and next door to an Outback, Olive Garden, IHOP and Chuy's. Don't know how expensive it is.
  4. Sounds like a heck of a game. The folks in BG were following this one close as we watched the Purples take care of Owensboro. I want to thank everyone who posted the play-by-play of the game. Great job and it was much appreciated.
  5. Some of the newer hotels in BG are, Town Place Suites and Fairfield Inn by Marriott. Both look like very nice hotels and are new. Both are located by the mall just a mile or from I-65. There is a Hilton hotel that is pretty nice too. The Staybridge and Hyatt Place are both new hotels and are really close to the stadium. I don't know what you consider cheap, but I would suggest to stay away from the Motel 6, the Ramada Inn, The Greenwood Hotel, The Jameson Inn, Quality Inn and Executive Inn& suites here. Some good bargains are the hotels on Mel Browning Street. They are next to the interstate and seem to be fairly nice. Home-Towne Suits and the Baymont Inn are located on this road and they are pretty nice I think for the money. The Days Inn here should be pretty cheap. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it is locally owned and taken care of. So the rooms are clean and all the linens are too.
  6. Oh that is great though. Glad you'll be there to lay eyes on the teams. Can't wait to see your thoughts on our opponent next week, assuming we win tonight of course. I don't blame you a bit. That has a chance to be a good game I think. I'll be looking for updates from that game tonight as well as I cheer on the Purples tonight.
  7. Well folks today is the day. It didn't seem like this day was ever going to get here. Looks like the weather is going to be great. Game time temps will be in the 60s. There is a 60 percent chance of rain that could come late in the game, probably the fourth quarter, maybe. We will have to see. Looks like 90 percent for folks traveling back to Owensboro so be careful. I do expect BG to win this one, I do not expect a big blow out, but probably a convincing win, a few touchdowns or something. Although to some a two or three touchdown victory apparently isn't very good. I will also be keeping an eye on the Cov. Catholic/Fern Creek game on social media. And that game will be well underway before the start of the BG/Owensboro game. Anyone else going tonight?
  8. Both of these teams have Bowling Green's attention. Those of us in Bowling Green will be watching this one close as we cheer on the Purples Friday night against Owensboro.
  9. It just seems to be Owensboro's offense is a bad matchup for them against BG. BG should be able to score quickly which is a big disadvantage for a team like Owensboro. BG should roll in this one. Owensboro will give everything it has. It's playoff time and they don't give these things away, but I look for this to be a 42-7, 48-14 game.
  10. This is such a stupid statement. I don't even know where to begin. In fact, I'm not. It doesn't even deserve a response.
  11. It have been 37. Officials must have got tired of pulling their flag out. And no, there was not a lot of holding on both teams. That's sourgrapes. Just telling it like it is.
  12. Uh.......Bowling Green did look good. Especially in the second half. They jumped out to a 17-0 lead....they were cruising. CC made some adjustments, made a comeback. BG made halftime adjustmenrs and beat a top 3 ranked team in 5A by two touchdowns. And it could have been three. BG purposely didn't score late in the fourth for sportsmanship. It marks the second time BG beat CC this season. the first by running clock, the second was closer. BG moves on and plays next week. All I'm saying is it was ridiculous the officials let them get away with as much as they did. It was. It was blatantly holding on both sides of the ball and it should have been called.....a lot more.
  13. I said this during the whole game. I can honestly say I have never seen a team blatantly hold as bad and as much as CC. Their OL arm held, tackled deadlocked Bowling Greens DE every play. Which is why BG had a hard time getting to their QB. When their QB was pressured, he struggled. Their whole plan to stop the BG passing game was to jersey pull BG receivers all the way down field. If that didn't work they would bump the heck out of them and if that didn't work they would trip or tackle them before they touched the ball. It was ridiculous and they got away with a lot of it.
  14. I don't feel too bad, CC had a some knucklehead fans of their own. Also their team had a bunch as well. Heading into halftime they went out of their way to run over to BG sideline and taunt the Purples as they were on their way in. WRONG move. Also at the very end some of their players tried to start fights with some BG players, C had several personal foul calls on them in the last minute of the game. I think they had two or three on one play. BG could have scored another one at the end, but was being classy and didn't do it.
  15. And good enough to beat Christian County........TWICE.
  16. Tough game. Christian County came to play. They had a great game plan and really caused the Purples a lot of trouble. Their defense did a great job of pressuring Payne to the point he had almost no time to throw the ball, especially in the first half. But Coach Wallace and the rest of the coaches had the Purples ready to play the second half. Really have to give a lot props to coach Wallace. There was some great play calling to slow down the pass rush, when Payne had time to throw he was on point. Bg's play makers made it happen. What shocked me was Christian County turned the ball over a bunch, but BG just couldn't capitalize, especially in the first half. They left a lot of points on the field. But again great by the coaches on having the Purples ready to play the second half. I will say Christian County's coach said in the paper that basically BG couldn't play two halves of football and implied BG would be tired. Well he got it backward because Christian County was the one that got wore out in the second half. They didn't quit, but upfront you could tell those guys were done. The Christian County fans next to us thought they won the game at halftime. Kept saying BG was "not that good" After the game I had to tell them I was sorry they lost twice in one season to a team that wasn't very good. On another note, I've never seen a team blatantly hold the they did. That's one of the main reasons their QB had a lot of time to throw. Looks like Purples get Owensboro next week.
  17. Purples better get their stuff together or they won't be playing next week. They started off really strong, but the protection has broken down and CC is causing us all kinds of problems. Defense is going to have to find away to get to CC qb. He has way too much time to throw. When we pressure him he makes bad throws. But they don't give these things away, Purples better respond or they don't deserve to win.
  18. Well I think the reason why Christian County's coach was so confident.....their plan is to to tackle our receivers before the ball is thrown.
  19. If I remember correctly too BG had some injuries heading into that game and one or two major injuries that happened during the game.
  20. Yeah I know. I'm all for doing something different, but I've seen some silly things that put their team out of contention in the first quarter because of the stupid things they did.
  21. It amazes the amount of teams who to be gimmicky (Is that even a word) against BG. Teams will have entirely different type of practice, will completely adjust their offenses and defenses just for this one game. I've many types of "trick" plays, weird kickoffs or onsides during the game. It's good to try different stuff, but I swear some teams sike themselves out
  22. Cov. Catholic could most certainly give the Purples a game or even beat them. I'm curious if Fern Creek could beat Cov. Catholic in the round before?
  23. I expect this game to be closer than the week 2 game. Week 2 was a long time ago and it is now win or go home. With that said, I still believe wins and wins big. 38-14 something like that. No first half running clock or anything. It's possible to get one in the second half. But Christian County will come ready to play. But BG would have to play terrible and Christian County would have to play well for them to have a good chance to win.
  24. I have not watched Hop-town play this year, but they have a good record and a real close game with Christian County. Can they beat South Warren?
