I think so far Boyd is living high on a very soft opening 3 games. I take Russell in an easy one.

I was at that game and he looks very good. He stands tall in the pocket and every ball he throws is pretty. I was very impressed by him.

This is my second year coaching at Raceland and here is what I've seen how it works. The freshman class is a pretty good well rounded class they beat Ashland last year as 8th graders. Their strength is their line. The 8th grade this year is very short on lineman, many will not be lineman after this year I would say, however probably a better set of skill position players. The 7th grade team has a pretty good set of lineman but short on skill players. The 6th grade class is a pretty solid group with good skill kids and good lineman. At such a small school when you put them in individual classes the weaknesses are pretty easy to see. When they all come together in high school it becomes easier to fill those gaps. Kids at Raceland seem to not drop out of football much after junior high like they do at bigger schools. 15-20 per class adds up to good numbers in high school.

Saturday

I know that minus him we had a pretty good matchup Monday night. There were definitely some other good kids on that team but he was absolutely the difference maker. Spectacular young talent!

We took our 7th and 8th grade teams to Olive Hill Monday night to face the comets. They have an 8th grade running back #21 that was absolutely phenomenal! Big, fast, strong the kid has it all. Also played safety and had two picks one that he took all the way back for 6. He was definitely in a class of his own out there. He is in the same class as my son so as much as I hate the thought of facing him every year I look forward to watching what he can become.

I didn't say anything to put any team down on purpose. After reading it I immediately wished I had worded it differently. Raceland will be better than last year and West may well be too by the end of the year. Right now neither team is.

I replied to what he had said before going back and reading my statement. In the scrimmage against Greenup Co, west was not a good team. Did they play better against Raceland yeah I think so. They still are not as good as they were last year. Probably in fact not a very good team. Bad team may have been extreme.

I never said West Carter was a bad team.

I saw Russell beat up a bad team at the grid. Saw Greenup tie a bad team at the grid. This week Greenup beat up a bad team and Russell to my understanding played really well against a typically very strong team. I give the nod to Russell.

Not while I was there. To my knowledge they didn't.

Raceland 1st team didn't lose a game in both days. I would say that's pretty good.

Fairview can't beat a solid team on the road? Raceland is pretty solid!

I agree that you can only play who is on the schedule and I am sure the kids play hard no matter what. Someone made that schedule in my mind being more concerned about wins than preparing for the post season. I just believe that Fairview is battle tested and if (big if)they play defense they win this game handily. Their offense is super explosive and in my opinion the best QB in 1A running it.

Fairview also has plenty of speed. I don't think that gives them a problem. The Eagles have to play better defense however. Paris beat 8 1A teams, a 1-9 2A team and a 4-6 4A team. In my opinion it is definitely Fairviews game to lose. Play like they did this past Friday and it's basketball season in Westwood. Play like they have shown they can and they can win this one big.

Raceland

I hate to say it but Raceland looked done. They are not the same team as earlier in the year. They looked defeated right of the bat tonight. I doubt they win this week at Russell but still say they beat BB in the first round of the playoffs. I don't know where that would send them but if things don't change that will be it.

I don't think most of you are looking at match ups. Raceland doesn't have the match up problems with Paintsville that they did with Fairview. Paintsville wants to line up and come straight at you, that plays to Raceland strengths. Make Kash beat you throwing the ball. He is a great player, outstanding LB and a very good RB who happens to take snaps. Long story short Raceland matches up better with the Tigers than the Eagles. Whoever it was earlier that said this will be the most physical game Raceland has played this year. Have you watched Ashland? Raceland could go undefeated from here and win in BG (not saying they will just making a point)and not play a better or more physical team than the Tomcats.

I'm sorry I was wrong. The visitor coaches are in the old press box on the visitor side. There are usually quite a few people in the press box.

Ram you are thinking of the old press box. The new one has windows and the coaches from both teams are up above it. It had to be over the PA system for the referee to hear him.

From what I have seen this year Fairview gets outcoached consistently. They have their game plan and they refuse to make adjustments. Raceland will be much better in the trenches and far better coached.

Fairview in my eyes really only has one loss. They played horrible against Lawrence Co. and really didn't look good in any aspect in that game. The other loss they have to the team in Cincinnati they were better in every aspect of the game but the referees made sure that they were never going to win that game. I am not normally a blame the refs kind of person but you can look up the numbers and see for yourself. Worst called game that I have ever seen. The coach from LCA was quoted in the local paper as saying Fairview was the most explosive offense they have seen. I have said it before and I stick by it. Roy is the best QB by far in the area regardless of size of school. If he has time to throw he has plenty of weapons and it's a long night for the opposing defense. Fairview defensively is not the best around by any stretch but they are not horrible either. Fairview 50 Coal Grove 26

Just for the record I am not a Fairview homer. I used to coach there and I am very familiar with those kids. I now coach MS at Raceland and I hope the varsity boys win every game. Just giving my personal opinion from what I have seen.

I'm not sure about offers and I know that he gets a lot of yards on screens but he throws a beautiful deep ball also. Like I said I believe that Paintsville and Raceland are better teams. However I don't think that either team will run away with it because Fairview will score and honestly Raceland has no one to run with Washington. They will have to keep the Fairview offense off the field. Hopefully they will be able to get pressure on Roy if not then Fairview can beat both of those teams.
