The Line run blocked fine IMO. The teams Ryle lost to had very good D Lines (cooper and SK) that closed the holes faster. Chisholm hit the holes faster than England did so he had more success running in the holes. England flourished when he got some space to run and get going. He runs much better outside than inside. This is why you saw him as a slot receiver catching WR screens. Get him some space to run after the catch. He as also successful on the slants catching the ball at full speed, very hard to tackle. It was just a matter of Chisholm hitting the holes faster than CE. So yes, the line could have done a better job keep the holes open longer, but let's face it. SK's and Cooper D lines are pretty stout. Team rushing numbers are there so to blame the OLine is not fair.

Ryle had a tough season last year, they were very young. That experience leads me to believe that they will fair much better this year. Lost 3 seniors to graduation, I think they might have 5 seniors this year, so hopefully that experience catches up with them

Highlands got beat by Cooper, Ryle, SK. There is no way they would have advanced further than Ryle if they played in 6A. Highlands is making a run, by beating the likes of Grant, Boone, Woodford and Dixie. Ryle lost to 2 teams this year. SK (twice) and Cooper, both teams that beat Highlands handily. If Ryle was in 5A, I would suspect a deeper run. Ryle had a solid season and trending very well over the past 2 years. Give them that. Enjoy the fact that Highlands is still in it.

Noticed that Hendrix went 4 catches for 44 yards in the first meeting. Did SK put Kincaid on him? Both are flat out talents, no question. But I give the edge to Kincaid. That kid rarely makes mistakes. He knows when to make a play on the ball, when to defend the pass or just simply make a tackle. I'll bet he is hard to beat deep too. If anyone can do it, we'll see if Hendrix can.

I agree. If there were NKY ref's working Trinity/X game, then they must have been the bottom of the barrel refs. There were what, 6 NKY games going on last night? The best crews would have been up here working. I wouldn't give this statement any validity at all.

I don't think you are giving the Oline enough credit. They are avg'ing 196 yds rushing per game: vs. Cov Cath : 134 yds vs. Lex Cath: 246 yds vs. Boone 192: yds vs. Highlands: 297 yds vs Camp Cty: 166 yds vs George Rogers Clark: 435 yds vs Cooper: 48 yds vs Conner: 268 yds vs SK: 77 yds vs Dixie: 133 yds vs Boone: 170 yds So is it a surprise that the 2 teams they lost to, Ryle had poor rushing games. Cooper's & SK's D Line just won the Battle on that night. That doesn't mean they cannot run block effectively. They just got beat those nights. I would look at Cooper's and SK's rush Defense stats for every game. I'll belt the stats are pretty impressive. Ryle can run and open up holes. They just have to prove they can do it vs the best D Lines. Not to mention Cooper and Sk have some pretty good Linebackers as well. I realize I am kinda supporting your arguement, but Ryle has had some very good rushing games.

That was a pretty nasty injury. Many of the Ryle boys heard the injury before seeing it. There is no way I would play that kid unless the injury was not as bad as first diagnosed. Still wouldn't consider highly not playing him.

I'm a Ryle Fan, obviously hoping for the best. As good as Powell is, they will just give his run snaps to Racke. I hate to admit it, but I can't disagree with any post yet. SK is a very, very good team. I just hope it is one of those occasions where it "is difficult to beat a team twice" Ryle will have to play flaw free football. They do have that in them.

They made adjustments to the line by moving Ross to Left guard and Bisek to Left Tackle. Ryle's OLine is definitely better at pass blocking than Run Blocking. But they can run block and run block well as proved vs Highlands. The issue I see is what the previous poster said, passing to set up the run. Dropped passes have killed Ryle on 1st and 2nd downs. Forcing 3rd and long and another pass play. That is why CE or other RBs not seeing a run play for series at a time. CE moved to the slot and has done great. I don't think he has dropped more than one pass yet. Dixie had success blitzing a corner. Hard for the Left tackle to kick step and block him when he has to contend with a D Lineman. Without a RB there to pick up the Corner they have to rely on Morgan stepping up in the pocket and getting the ball off which he is great at doing. At times, the route isn't open yet so it appears as though he is hurrying. Nation said it, it is a team thing. Line not run blocking the best, WR dropping the ball on 1st and 2nd downs, play calling, etc. 8-2 record isn't bad considering where they were the last two years.

I completely agree that he has been under used. If you are at the games, you can hear the frustration with the run game. The crowd cheers when they see a handoff or a pitch. Pass attempts on 1st and 2nd, then being forced to pass on 3rd means less carries for all the RBs. I really do think that CE has held his head up high and looking for the good of the entire team. For that he gets my 110 percent respect. But it has to be frustrating. They did go to him in the 4th vs Dixie and he pounded them and scored. Wouldn't surprise me if his carries increase in the Playoffs.

SK won't pull their starters until the game is out of reach. 3 scores difference then they will pull starters. 2 scores difference starters will remain, just play conservatively, running the ball chewing clock.

Hypothetically, if Conner beats Cooper, there will be a 3 way tie with them and Ryle being 1-1 in Distrits. If this happens, I believe Conner with #1 seed, Cooper #2 and Ryle #3. Not sure how, but I assume it is simply because Conner hypothetically beats Cooper and Cooper beat Ryle. But Ryle also beat Conner, who hypothetically beats Cooper. Who knows. (This is just what I read in the Cooper V Conner prediction thread)

I keep reading Ryle struggled last week. The whole teamed played well. With the exception of dropping 5 passes (3 of which could have gone for scores) in the first half, they played great. They made up for that by coming back for 14-14 tie at half. Morgan's only bad play was a INT on a screen play. I argue that it was a better play by the Defensive lineman reading and picking it off. Yes they struggled with the dropped passes. But they fixed that in the 2nd half. Ryle had their LT Chase Ross out with a high ankle sprain suffered during the Cooper game. They brought a Sophomore in to start for him and he played outstanding, pushing Conner DT's allover the field.

This happened on a FG attempt at Ryle V. Cooper. Cooper ruoghed the kicker. Penalty resulted in a 1st down. FG was good, Ryle coach decided to take the points off the board and go for the TD. Turned out in his favor as Ryle scored. I'm thinking out loud, is it possible that a PAT is a dead ball type of play? I'm embarrassed to ask this question, but isn't a PAT an un-timed down? I agree with you, they should get the option to re-attempt. If the offense held, wouldn't they re-attempt the PAT 10 yards back?

I felt Ryle tried to run inside to much vs Cooper. In my opinion, Ryles 4 headed RB monster run much better in space. If they hit the edges, they can gobble up yards.

Had a late night snack of Crow and leftovers for breakfast. Congrats to Cooper on an awesomely played, coached, executed game and game plan. N. Brown was on point. Hendrix was a stud. B. I also agreed with you. Cooper would have won irregardless, the game would have just been closer if the QB and OLineman played. Who knows, possibly as close as the Ryle v LCA game was. Read all of my posts, I've probably given Cooper more respect out of any Ryle fan. I wish you would have watched the LCA game where I sat, it was very interesting listening to the LCA fans just tear the coaches a new one. Coach Engler was there listening to it as well and he is a former LCA coach. It was brutal.
