Statement game for the Birds vs a Ryle program that apparently was up 34-16 last yr with 2 min left and onside kicked.

 

Birds defense was smothering and had 3 picks in the game. Bailey Armstrong led the secondary with 2 giving him 7 on the year in just 8 games played.

Why, when your team is down 20-0 at the half, do you try an onside kick to open the 2nd half, giving the Birds a short field for a touchdown 2 plays later? Not only did it backfire badly, it really fired up the Birds who put up 21 quick points in the 3rd quarter.

No it actually Dates back to 2007. Ryle handed Highlands Frosh it's 1st loss in like 3 years with Conner Hemple playing QB. The loss wasn't the biggest insult. It was the Entire Ryle team and Coaching Staff dancing on the "H" at Midfield after the Win. In my best Dale Mueller voice when he witnessed what was going on...."There's no way they are dancing on my Football field" I remember it like it was yesterday and Dale still talks about it on a Regular basis. So yes there is some ill will towards the Program from Union.
