I congratulate Miss. Clifford on her season and being named POY of the region. Two players were deserving, only one can be named. I don't believe there are any "politics" involved here. Niece played only 4 games in the region, while Clifford played 16 games in the region. Clifford, while deserving, had a lot more opportunity to make an impression with 8th region coaches.

How did scheduling Colerain and LaSalle work out for Ryle? Absolutely, positively championships in 6A will not happen in a closed district school like Ryle. It is positive not a matter of "Mindset" in 6a. It's about having the athletes to compete. I'd love to see the data on the number of scholarship placements by school in 6A football for the last 10 tears. I bet it would be illuminating!

BG has how many high schools within a 10 mile radius? I don't see Ryle, Boone or Dixie collecting trophies either.

I don't think anybody in the state can compete with the with the Louisville 6A programs, and no level of brutal scheduling is going to change that. I know historically, SK has been singled out for this, but in recent years SK, Ryle and Dixie have all been squashed by the Louisville programs. When Ryle had scheduled series against Colerain and LaSalle, they were crushed in all four of those games. Scott County won a title as a 6A school, but they do not have another High School within 25 miles of their campus, and they are much larger than SK or Ryle. I just don't see a school outside Louisville competing with those schools. Lets add that SK gave up 50 points to HHS last year. Do they really have any business scheduling Louisville 6A or equivalent programs?

I don't know about forced retirement, with the exception being physically unable to do the job, but there needs to be a LOT more supervision and oversight. On the girls side, we had an opponent throw a punch (missed) in full view of an official, who stopped the game to give her a WARNING! Because this official chose not to properly enforce the rule, which requires disqualification, this same player threw a second punch to the head and connected. The player was given a technical, but not ejected. It is my understanding that officials are only evaluated by their coaches in their own region. Out of region opponents have no say in the performance of officials.This has to change. Furthermore, more game tapes need to evaluated with officials being corrected, and disciplined for performance. There absolutely needs to be more evaluation and correction of officiating. Maybe KHSAA can address this with the revenue from 5$ cokes at state events!

Perhaps after being out of coaching for several years, Coach Kues got a culture shock when confronted with all the demands of being a HC, and, the increased time required to do the job. That makes two HCs in a row that could not last a year.
