As a CCH fan, I stood and applauded in appreciation to what Mr. Bolden has brought to the 9th region over these past years. The group I was sitting with all agreed that we hope he has much success at WVU. . . look forward to rooting for a local kid on national TV. If others made disparaging remarks, they are not true fans of the game. PERIOD.

I may catch heat for saying this, but I also thought Holmes "bigs" were very selfish in the last 2 games. With the exception of #15 , every time the ball went into the post it was shot. I thought that several shots were forced up over much bigger defenders when they could've been kicked out for an open shot or to get deeper post position. I understand that when the ball entered the paint it was 5-7 feet from the basket, but at some point I would think that going strong against a defender who is much taller than you and who has stopped you several times before would not be the best option for you. Passing out of the post & re-posting is a skill not many high school kids do well. I believe the easier alternative is to turn and shoot no matter what the defense dictates. Also, this works both ways, you have to have the guards that are willing to re enter the ball. The post up game in high school and college seems to have diminished as a primary weapon. Its a pick & pop or pick & roll world these days.

The Mayer boys are rebounding machines. While yes they are athletic and strong, they both have that innate ability to be in right place and snatch the ball. I see AJ (CCH frosh) filling in Grant Romes position next year with Michael to follow up not too long thereafter. That name will fill the REB stat line for next few years. Looking forward to next years battles with Pius & Highlands tandem bigs. Three good players.

Dre had some early success in their first meeting. CCH did a good job containing Wilson. I believe CCH guards are better than the Camels group, which is a big factor on the big floor / big stage. If Wilson has big game it will be tight. Otherwise, I see Colonels by 10 . . . making their FTs in the 4th.

Well done. Thanks for the info. Interesting how the 4 (Agnes) beat a 1 (Mary). Must be a competitive grade level. Pius will be tough to be beat, but that's why they play the games.

I believe the Diocesan tourney went to 8 teams (4 from each league) not too long ago. How they came up with this years participants, that I don't know.

Congrats RA Jones. Must be rewarding for you too Dirty T. If every school in NKMSL had a loyal supporter providing solid input like yours, this thread would be even better. As we know, NO info comes from any of the league directors.

Watch out for those Red Colonels,may be adding on to a special year for this senior class As a blue Colonel, can't believe I said that. Better get to Mass.

Sorry to hear this. As a St.Pius 6th follower, was looking forward to the matchup. Sounds like your good team had a tough year (not with opponents) with the schedule makers.

Just a thought, It may be to Beechwood's best interest for BSS to rejoin. In that case, Beechwood could petition to move up to large school division, thereby keeping even number teams.

BSS last played in NKMSL four years ago when CVH was a 6th grader (they won region BTW). At that time, I believe they played their games at SOAS. For sure, need to have 6 teams from each school to participate in league.

Sounds like there could be some good matchups within Ft.Mitchell next couple years. BSS v. Beechwood. Just curious, do these schools play each other very often? I know they're not in same leagues. Will they schedule some non-league matchups, or do they avoid each other?

I do not know the circumstances behind the Beechwood decision, so no comment. However, after numerous years of sending teams from my school to this & many other tournaments, I can tell you these guys do a great job and typically go out of their way to accommodate teams & get all games played. Possibly there is a time crunch, knowing they have to get the tourney completed by this weekend. (2 & out) tourneys can be difficult. Also, lets not forget the weather over the past 7 days. As far as stacking the brackets . . . not a thing with St. Agnes. They allow 6th grade A teams to play in tourney, while they play their blended school teams.

In no way was I making an excuse . . "came out flat". It was my observation of the game, as was my comment Dixie came out poised. No excuses needed. My team got beat. It happens.

yeah bball fan you're old, like three weeks more so than me. Maybe like Sheldon, you should do a seat sound check around the arena before making final choice. I was three rows behind CCH bench and didnt notice, but then again I am a lot younger.

Nice job by Summit View players and coach D. Put Pius on their heels early on by whipping their Diamond press. Pius press had victimized many opponents all year. Big early lead too much to overcome. Not sure if he made all tourney, but #30 for SV did nice job at PG. Well coached, well played Jags. Congrats! Pius boys keep your heads up, stay dedicated and you can bookend that 6th grade title with 8th next year.

Blue Colonels came out flat. Red Colonels came out poised. I thought Schu only CCH player ready to play early on. CVH did not look like normal self. CCH did not bump Dixie off their diagonal cuts. Too many trailing defenders. Defense needed to get CCH back in game. Never happened. Congrats Shreck, Bolin, Hedger - N.KY Bulldogs.

Highlands, Pius, Gray as favorites 6th,7th, 8th respectively. Bound to be an upset in there somewhere?

KyAg if I recall you are a Conner guy. Props to you for reporting scores without any sour grapes about 2 losses. As a Pius guy I appreciate our rivalry with the Colts. Wasnt able to go to any games tonight but anxious to hear results. Conner coaches do terrific job. Summit View knocks off Highlands in OT (7th grade)

I'd like to see Holmes really get after it on Defense & Beetle get hot (not just 3's), then see what happens. If they do neither, NCC wins game handily, which is my bet.

In these times of irrational fan behavior (especially playoffs), we should all take note of what went down at a local middle school last night. Summit View (7th grade) team manager Michael (a remarkable down syndrome young man) got to dress for his team. Mind you, this was a regional playoff game, so his chances of playing were not great. However, as fate had it, Summit View opened a sizeable lead on Holmes late in the 4th Qtr. Michael entered the game with less than a minute to go; much to all's excitement. What followed was great teamwork by all (both teams) players involved. After a couple trips up/down the floor Michael banked in the game's final two points. First of all, kudos to Summit View coach for giving young Michael the opportunity. A reward I'm sure he'll never forget. I bet Michael won't either. Secondly, props to the Holmes coach & players for their assistance. Again, this was a playoff game, an end to the season, which for anyone with competitive juices is a sad/upsetting time. Sports in a good light . . . refreshing.

As an early 1980's grad, I'll put my two cents in for Todd Schulte & John Darpel. John was too smart to continue playing after high school, thought his name would look better with M.D. behind it. In my 30+ years of fandom, which I admit has been sporadic at times in terms of attending games, my #1 favorite player to watch was David Wilson. What year did he graduate by the way? Also, a vote for any member of the '06 team is a good one . . . their legend continues to grow (wonder why?). Pat Van Sant also !
