Final from Olive Hill. 62nd district semi's Jordan Perry 25 points to lead Morgan.

It will be a tough environment for Morgan with the game being played in Olive Hill I am sure all of East Carter's fans will be there. Plus you will have West Carter and Elliott county fans all pulling for East as well. Morgan has a very young team, with 1 senior starter. Plus Jr Jordan Perry that is a 5 year starter. So if the other kids for Morgan can handle the pressure I think Morgan wins by 3. If East Carter finds a way to slow Perry down some then East has a good shot to win. Morgan will press East hard to force turnovers and if East can take care of the ball that helps them tremendously. They split during the regular season with East winning at home by 6 in overtime, and Morgan winning at home by 10. So the game could go either way. I am going Morgan 53 East Carter 50.

Raceland won the first matchup by 9 on the road, and Greenup went to Raceland and beat the Rams by 8. Connor Messer, 11 ppg and 8 rpg and probably the best low post player for Raceland did not play in either meeting. So I would think that Raceland should be favored to win by 7-10 points. In my opinion Greenup county has underachieved this year if you base it on their 12-16 record. But they are no better than a 7-10 team in the 16th region. Those statements are just my opinion though. I have seen Greenup play 4 times this season, and Raceland 3. Raceland is just better.

Russell had a real tough year. Only 2 seniors on their roster. Congrats to Coach Trimble and their team. I think a lot of coach Trimble. Very good man and coach.

Would the girls POY award in 99 have been someone from Shelby Valley? They went 30-4 that year. Just guesssing they maybe could have had the best player also.

Johnson Central by 20. Magoffin county has had a very underachieving year so far. Johnson Central will win the 15th without very little competition this year. Lawrence lost one of the Dalton boys and you might as well stick a fork in them. They have no depth whatsoever. Maybe Sheldon Clark, or Paintsville can keep it close for awhile.But I think the Eagles win the region.

Congrats to coach McKenzie. Johnson Central has had a good year, especially with all of their inuries.

I like the format of every team gets in for basketball. That's what makes Kentucky high school basketball so great. Anyone can be beaten if they don't bring their A game. It wouldn't be fair to just reward the top 2 teams in each district to advance to the regions. Why even play the games if you base it on who is supposed to win?

I'll take Lewis at home by 4.

64th district. Final from Boyd co middle school. Boyd now awaits the winner of Ashland and Fairview.

Nice job. For Breathitt county in the 14th and Ashland in the 16th there is a chance both of those teams streaks end this year.

I'll take Breathitt county by 7. Too much Chaney in this one for Jackson City to handle.

I think Ashland is very capable of beating Fairview. They have everyone healthy finally. I look for them to beat Fairview. I don't think they can beat Elliott, Morgan, or East Carter. I just think those teams along with Rowan are just better. May be able to beat Lewis, Greenup or Raceland.. Or Russell again. But who knows. That region is wide open. I do know Ashland with everyone healthy are a lot better than that terrible record indicates. Not the Ashland from years past though, that's for sure.

Rowan county in the 16th also. Regionals are played at Morehead State, which is in Rowan's backyard.

Nice job as always GB32. Let's hope some of this nasty weather goes away so we can get the post season going. Going to be several good games in both the district and regional.

I like the 14th and 15th region rankings. And I would keep the 16th region the exact way it is. Great job.

Lafayette won the first meeting by 9 and have been playing well of late. I'll take Lafayette by 9 again.

I think it is going to be a great game. Morgan has won 7 in a row and Rowan is regarded as the team to beat in a lot of people's eyes. If Morgan plays as well as they have been I think they can pull out the win. I guess it would be a mild upset. But I honestly believe the region is so balanced that it wouldn't really surprise me if any of the top teams lose to each other. Morgan county 64 Rowan county 61. Go Cougars!

Callahan is a nice player with a smooth shooting stroke.
