  1. Fleming has a couple of real good freshman. Brad Glasscock a guard who averages around 10 per game and Zac Alexander a forward averaging about 8 a game. I'd put Hughes as #1 though. The kid is a real good scorer.
  2. I agree. Jackson is real good shot blocker. Would like to say Greenup run more plays for both Jackson and Hughes.
  3. Jair Jackson 6"7 forward. He is a senior. Small frame but very good in the paint. High energy player and when he plays all out he really stands out. For some reason in the games I've watched Greenup this year he doesn't get the ball enough. Gage Hughes 6"0 freshman shooting guard. Really good shooter and can create his own shot. Good all around player and in my opinion either the best freshman in the 16th or top 2. He should be a 20 ppg scorer throughout the rest of his career. I think has Greenup has a lot of talent. Just very inconsistent play. I feel like they are capable of beating anyone in the region, but also if they don't play well could lose to teams that they should beat by 15 points.
  4. Seems like I read also that they had a few transfer.
  5. I'm pretty sure they won 2 games yesterday beating Rose Hill and Fleming county. That's what the scoreboard says. Gives them 3 for the year. I think their best player got hurt and maybe even had several players hurt. Not for sure but just what I have heard.
  6. If that happens do they do two coin tosses? Just wondering. Very odd if it works out like that but it is very possibly could.
  7. If Jair Jackson gets the ball more and plays aggressively they could make another strong run like last year. Also if Hughes is on Greenup is a dangerous team. That Greenup vs Lewis game will be fun to watch.
  8. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if any of the 4 teams win it. Most balanced district in the region from top to bottom I think.
  9. Looks like Boyd and Fairview in the finals. Where are the district's being held at?
  10. Greenup has the players to win the district. They have been so inconsistent this year though.
  11. That's gonna make for some good games. Who you got winning sportsfanatic? I like Raceland and Greenup in the finals. But wouldn't be surprised to see Lewis win either.
  12. How do the seedings look now in the 63rd district?
  13. I was actually joking about not having an opinion. Anyway the way they are going neither Elliott nor Boyd will be much of a factor. I have seen Boyd county play once all year, I am not impressed at all. And since they lost to both Lewis and East Carter then they can't be that good. Just three days ago Lawrence county had them down by over 30 points with 4 minutes to go. So it really doesn't matter when it's all said and done, Boyd co at this point is a non factor. Whoever is playing the best come the first week of March cuts downs the nets and goes to Rupp. I am taking Rowan county right now to go. Not your Lions.
  14. I am not sure that anyone actually hates Mason. Mason has been so dominate in that region for so many years, that I feel like the other schools either secretly, or out in the open just cheer for all of the remaining schools in the region. I know Montgomery and Clark are big rivals, and I would be willing to say that some of their fans would root for that team only if they were playing against Mason county.
  15. Elliott county lost to a bad Wolfe county team. That much has been decided. I think Elliott county is beatable by Rowan, Boyd, Morgan, East Carter, West Carter, Raceland, Fairview, and Lewis county. One game anything can happen. I do not have Elliott county shades on. Boyd lost last night, Elliott county lost last night. So we all agree Rowan is the team to beat....I put Elliott county 2 because I still feel like overall they are better than Boyd county. Boyd county on a 3 game losing streak btw. And Elliott has beaten Morgan 3 times already. Elliott lost to Boyd, Rowan lost to Boyd, Boyd beat Rowan and lost to Lewis, Lewis lost to Morgan, Morgan lost to East Carter, East Carter lost to Fleming, so it goes on and on. I'll hush so you guys can have your message board back, cause evidentily no one is allowed to have an opinion. You guys provide all of the facts always.
  16. Redparth had been there since the summer. If anyone is gonna do any rankings then I suggest they find out who the players are. I used his rankings as that was the only pre season rankings I could find. What were your pre season rankings for the 16th GB32? I am interested to know.
  17. One thing Robert Scott Creech has never been accused of is being a great coach. Elliott county played terrible. Doesn't take coaching to know when you can't run with a far superior team, then you will have to take the air out of the ball.
  18. I am not doubting you one bit. I think Brandon Baker is a great coach. He very well may be the coach of the year. If he gets it I'll be the first to congratulate him on a job well done. Elliott county to me has the best talent in the district and possibly with Rowan and Boyd the region. Coach Adkins also does a great job with the talent that those kids push out every year in Sandy Hook. Morgan does have two very talented players. East, West, I believe are fairly equal in talent for the most part. Yes Perry does get some recognition, but not near enough when it comes to state wide. I praise him and all of his countless hours of hard work since he was a small boy following his dad around in the gym for all of those years. Coming in at 6am to put up hundreds and hundreds of jump shots. Helping his dad run the Morgan county youth basketball league for years and years. They do that to improve the youth of Morgan county because they care. Coach Perry practices his high school team, then stays in the gym and practices all grades from k-6th every day of the week basically. Never leaving the gym til well after 8pm every night. I don't think anyone truly understands how much time this kid and his dad puts in at the gym, and he is a great role model for our young kids in Morgan county who adore him. That is why I compliment him and know his worth to the team and county. Cause there sure isn'y many Jordan Perry fans on here. May be because his dad is not a popular guy, I undertsand that. But Jordan Perry deserves more than he gets. For all of those preseason rankings for the player of the year in the 16th and people had Perry anywhere from 4th to 7th, come on now. Anyone in their right mind can watch that kid play a few games and tell you if they are being honest with themselves that there are not 6 players in the region better than him. I give credit to all of the teams that play well and the players and coaches in the 14th, 15th, and 16th regions. That are the regions I follow and know a little about. Good luck to all teams and coaches the rest of this year. Especially Coach Baker, and the Raiders.
  19. Who do you think wins the district and what two teams will go on to regionals?
  20. I am rooting for Clark county in this one, but I am also a realist. Mason county is good, very good. Mason county at home will be a tough, tough chore for any of the 10th region teams.
  21. If it ain't broke don't fix it. While I undertsand times have changed, if a team wants to hold the ball to better their chances of winning then by all means let them do it. If a team stalls then it is the other team's coaches job to try and figure out a gameplan to force them out of the stall tactic. It is what makes basketball fun and enjoyable to watch, which is the underdog beating or staying close to the big dog. Boring basketball, yes, but a win is a win, is a win.
  22. That makes the 63rd interesting. I would like to see those two teams meet again.
  23. East did beat Morgan and head to head it is 1-1 this year. Guess we will find out come district who has the better team. It is both, talent and coaching. East was ranked ahead of Morgan by 3 spots in the preseason, aren't they supposed to beat Morgan? Sure they were. I am not saying Baker is not a good or even a great coach, because I feel like he is doing a good job this year with his team. I am just trying to provide a few facts as to what was supposed to happen this year. Not hating on any coach, they put in countless hours with our kids to get them better. I appreciate all of the hard work of all coaches.
  24. I agree with you with the record not being the end all GB32. With that being said Rowan, Boyd, and Elliott are doing what is expected of them. Greenup and Ashland obviously are not. While Lewis and Morgan are the only teams overachieving. East Carter, Fairview, Raceland are also about where everyone expected them to be. While I undertsand those were only pre season rankings, but shouldn't a coach of the year candidate be someone who no one expects a lot from, or a team that just dismantles the whole region. That has not happend as far as the dominate team. So as far as coach of the year goes, I feel like it goes to Rowan, Elliott, Lewis, or Morgan counties coaches. Rowan and Elliott because they are where they are supposed to be and have followed through with being one of the top teams, or Lewis or Morgan because of their overachievment. Just my opinion. Anyone please feel free to voice their opinion on coach of the year. Rankings by Aaron Snyder, Ashland Daily Independent Preseason Top 10 Teams 1. Rowan County 2. Boyd County 3. Greenup County 4. Elliott County 5. Ashland 6. Fairview 7. East Carter 8. Raceland 9. Lewis County 10. Morgan County As of now I feel like the rankings should be, or something very similiar to this. 1.Rowan 2.Elliott 3.Boyd 4.Morgan 5.East Carter 6.Raceland 7.Lewis 8.Greenup 9.Fairview 10.West Carter
