  1. I would have thought so too. But since Lewis beat Boyd county and then a week later Morgan county turned around and dismantled Lewis county by 17 points then I'd say any of those top 4 teams could win it. The winner of the Elliott, Morgan, East Carter district has a good shot to play in the regional finals against Boyd or Rowan. Depending on how the draw goes. But all of the top teams are definitely beatable. I agree Rowan and Boyd should be the favorites, but don't sleep on Elliott or Morgan. Elliott county plays really good unselfish basketball and have enough size down low to win the rebounding batle. And when you have two scoring threats like Jordan Perry and Redparth then Morgan county could give teams fits. Anxious to watch the regionals this year.
  2. He is averaging around 24 per game. So if they win the region and can win a game or two at Rupp he shoulf have 12 or 13 games left. Should push him over 3600 for his career. I think he ends up the 3rd all time leading scorer when it's all said and done.
  3. My top 5 Rowan Morgan Elliott Boyd Raceland
  4. I agree. The region is very balanced this year and I believe there are 6 or 7 teams that if they are playing well could win it. Boyd beat Rowan but lost to Lewis. Morgan beat Lewis by 17 last night and Morgan lost to East Carter two weeks ago. Elliott plays Rowan on Feb 16th and that should be a good game. Greenup gets hots and plays well they can play with anyone. Same for Raceland. West Carter only lost by 3 to Elliott in the All A tournament. The region is down and it will be a struggle for even their best teams, Rowan, Boyd, and Elliott to win 1 game at Rupp regardless of who they draw. But as a whole, the balance makes for some really good season, district, and regional games.
  5. Rowan county has a very solid program there in Morehead. A lot of upcoming talent in the future I hear.
  6. This thread started with the false assumption that an 8th grader playing varsity was actually 16. It was cleared up the 8th grader was 15, which as an 8th grader would be a hold back at some point of their academic career, but not unusual in the sense a 16 year old 8th grader would obviously be. I don't believe it has been proven that the kid is only 15. Only a statement on here from someone who is an Elliott county supporter. I have had several people close to the Elliott county team that all say that the kid is indeed 16. All I am saying is he is a good player, but holding him back as they have done at least once and maybe twice as it appears will not benefit the kid. Yeah I am sure he has dominated in the middle school as he very well should, but for him to have to sit out his senior year will that benefit him? Will he be allowed to play during his jr year if he is in fact 16 now? I feel as if there are some parents who want their kid to dominate not in their age group but to hold them back and dominate against kids 1 or 2 years younger. Sad, but it is true. When the Spencer kids gets mentioned as one of the better 8th grade players in the states, then I think those that are saying this should indeed be comparing him to the freshman or even sophomore class.
  7. He is a good player. I have heard that he is 16 years old. Some may not care about that, but he is already older than a lot of sophomores. Anyone from Elliott county know how old the kid is for sure?
  8. Greta job as always GB32. On the All A website http://allaclassic.org/State%20Brackets/2015%20Boys%20State%20Brackets.pdf It shows Elliott county playing against the 7th region winner Kentucky Country Day.
  9. Jordan Perry with 32 pts for Morgan. Holden Redparth added 17 points for Morgan. Both teams had a couple of starters foul out.
  10. Great game! Elliott county would not go away. And Morgan fought hard. Both teams deserved it! Congrats Elliott!
  11. Its because against Rowan, Elliott and some of those teams he gets double teamed every time he touches the ball. And when he plays against the Bath, Lee, Russell type of teams he does all of that in 2 1/2 quarters. The boy is good. And is a good all around kid. He works his butt off and has since he was old enough to dribble a ball.

  13. I agree Redparth is a great player too and I love his game. But to say better than Perry??? Perry is the 4th leading scorer in the state. Perry is averaging 26 ppg, while shooting over 47% from the field. As a guard that is a very good fg%. Perry 26 ppg, Redparth 16 ppg. Perry 47 fg% and Redparth 40 fg%. Redparth averages 7.8 Rpg with Perry at 3.6 rpg. Redparth is a great defender, rebounder, and shot blocker. But Perry is not only the man on the Cougars, but the man in the 16th region. If he were in some of the bigger regions with the Lexington, Louisville, and NKy schools people would be talking about him more. And he is only a junior. Hard to say there is a better player on a team when that kid will more than likely end up being the 5th or higher all time leading scorer in ky boys history. I rest my case.....
  14. I get what the purpose is. Some don't like that a kid transferred in to play at Morgan county. Just like all of the complaints when Morgan county was getting all of their foreign exchange students. Some are trying to stir the pot. The bottom line is the kid has been ruled eligible to play by the KHSAA and is eligible to play as he has been all year. So there is really nothing that anyone can say or do but to complain about it. He is a very skilled player and as a basketball fan we should be supporting these kids that choose to play high school athletics regardless of what states or country they are from.
  15. I think Morgan county gets it done tonight and wins by 5.
  16. You said Morgan county would really be in trouble without Holden Redparth. I said yes they would as would most teams in the 16th region who lost their 2nd best player on their team.....The 4th leading scorer in the state this year is Morgan county's Jordan Perry, he is the best player on Morgan county this year, with Redparth being their 2nd best player.
  17. I agree completely!! I've been saying it all year. Jair Jackson should be averaging 20 ppg. A kid with that much height and athletic ability should be getting more touches. If you are 6"7 in the 16th region you should dominate and in my opionion Greenup county does a very poor job of using him correctly. Hughes is also a very good scorer. No way Greenup county should have all of the losses that they have.
  18. Rowan county struggled against Russell in their last outing, and lost the game before that one to a real good Lincoln county team. Callahan is a real good scorer, and Graham a defensive star and complete all around good player as well. King and Greene seem to always get the job done for Coach Humphrey and Clark county will be tough to beat on their home floor. Clark county 70 Rowan county 62...
  19. Yes they would. As would most teams in the 16th region if they lost their 2nd best player.
  20. Finals of the 16th region All A tonight from Menifee county at 7:30. Elliott is 2-0 on the year vs Morgan, winning by 1 point in the finals of the Stultz Pharmacy Holiday Classic tournament last month, and in a blow out at home in a district game two weeks ago. Morgan looks to get some revenge and pick up a big win tonight. Elliott county has been on a roll lately and looks to continue their dominance over the other 62nd district teams. Morgan county is 11-4 on the season, with Elliott's record at 12-4. Elliott county relies on their balanced offense and excellent 3pt shooting, while Morgan county relies on their full court press, and talented 6'4 scoring machine Jordan Perry. Should be a good game to watch.
