The PAC-12 finally begins (and ends) conference play tonight. Oregon State and Washington State tied at 7 late in the first.

I knew Johnson would be the best player on the field but I was impressed with the Braves defense holding down the Raiders offense as well. Just like last year, Central, CAL and Lex Cath are on the opposite side of the bracket and a rural school will play a private school in the finals.

Jarren Johnson for Union County will probably be the best player on the field but I think Hart County is the better team. I think the Raiders win by a touchdown.

I only saw the last few seconds but Louisville was up 35-21 with about 7 minutes left. Stanford tied it at 35 and ran a play out of bounds at their own 45 with one second left. After the play a Cardinal shoved the ball carrier and got an unsportsmanlike penalty. Set up Stanford for a 57 yard field goal but then Louisville jumped offside. Stanford hit a 52 yarder at the buzzer to win.

In 3A, if CAL, Union County, Belfry and Lexington Catholic win, all of which are very possible, Belfry would have to travel to Union County. About a 6 hour trip.

This one was closer than the first contest they had. Hart County played very sloppy, they had several penalties and lost a fumble and put the ball on the ground a couple of other times but were able to recover. It seemed to me like maybe they took FS a little too lightly because of the earlier game. FS got in a hole early and played much better in the second half, which has been a pattern for them this year. The Wildcats had several drives fizzle out in or near the red zone, which has also been a problem for them this year. Hart County was just too dominant in the running game and they had some good passes tonight too. Good luck to the Raiders the rest of the way. FS had a lot of sophomores and a few freshmen with significant playing time this year that I hope will pay off next year.
