South is a well coached team. They don't make many mistakes. I have followed Covington cath ever since cole was in 8th grade and played aau for derby state. He good player but seemed to not take over like I thought he might try too.

If you wasn't impressed with the Highlands game you should seen Boone County game the next day. It wasn't a pretty road trip for the cardinals. Very little energy and effort. Great win tonite though. South has been playing well of late. I thought both teams played well on defensive end. Neither so much on offense.

Moving kids up to early can hurt development sometimes too. I have seen kids moved to varsity and just become a spot up shooter at that level because they can not finish at rim like they can against kids their own age. Its tricky sometimes to know when to make the move.

South Laurel moved a couple 8th graders up last year and played mainly freshman and some jv. I like the way coach davis does it. You have to earn anything you get. This year as the older kids realize and come to accept the younger ones can play and help the team they get more and more time. Its frustrating for the younger kid sometimes sitting when they know they can help but I think its best for the team this way.

Sw will have to shoot better than they have last few games to win this one. They have managed to win the last few not shooting as well as they have been.

Southwestern 12-0 and Pulaski County comes in at 10-3

Final from the Traditional Bank Holiday Classic. South moves on in the consolation bracket to play Russellville today. Souths 8th game in 11 days. Much needed rest coming.

Here is my problem as a coach. If you play both together it's a problem. They are not skilled and can't score against good teams. Not enough to win atleast. They both look the part

South Laurel beat perry today 72-55 and perry had their two 6 8 kids eligible today.

First reports on Fitzgerald was a broken thumb. Took another X-ray and it was determined tgat what was showing up on first x ray was an old injury. Tape it up and play. He had been sick is reason for missing a few games

Somerset is actually a bad matchup for sw. Sw choose not to press and rest a little. They are tired too. 3 games in 24hrs will do that.

The top kids in ky can play with other states kids. Trinity starting guard Justin Powell is only a freshman and is also the starting point guard for top ranked Atlanta Celtics 14u aau team.

SW is def making a statement. I have always said I would hate to be the coach that draws them on a given day. They can beat almost anybody. Maybe not top 5 but I would still be concerned as a coach. They def top 15-20 at this point.

I love highlands gym. It would be loud in that place if 2 mice got in a fight on Sunday morning in there. Lol. It was very good for south to play this game basically without grubb. The young kids didn't flip out in that environment Good to see.

Idk about better team yet or not but kids are having a lot more fun playing basketball this year.

SW was lucky to get out of there with the W. Casey had all the momentum just ran out of time is how it felt. Your right I have said it all along. SW can beat almost any team in state on a given nite.
