theguru Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Final per the update thread: 83-66 final. Berkmar should roll to the title. Dealing this Purples team their worst loss since 2013 while scoring the most points allowed by BG since that same year is no joke.
PurplePride92 Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 I heard they look like a small college team.
Wireman Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 I heard they look like a small college team. Or a good high school team from another state
Rez Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Berkmar's guards were really impressive. Cooks got the the basket at will. Lightning quick little guard who was very fun to watch. Taylor and Jones were dominant inside for BG, as Berkmar couldn't match up with them, but the guard play from Berkmar was too overwhelming for BG to take enough advantage inside.
silo11 Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 What is interesting, talking to a friend in Ga, Berkmar isn't even considered a top 20 team in Ga. They got trounced by the no. 1 team (Newton). Maybe BG had an off night and Berkmar their best.
Purple88 Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 I was at the game (one of my first BG basketball games in a long while) and Beckmar was on FIRE from 3. They hit 8 threes in the first quarter and a half. As Rez said, Beckmars guards were lightning quick and made the BG offense uncomfortable. BG had a big advantage down low, but I thought they went away from that WAY too early and just started jackin 3s and it got out of hand. Plus they haven't been in this situation alot and don't think they handled being down again like this well. BUT it should help them immensely going forward. Not taking anything away from Beckmar who has an excellent team, but if they don't hit like 8 3s in a row I think BG would have stayed in the game much longer.
mcpapa Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 High school basketball is first and foremost a guard's game.
PurplePride92 Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Or a good high school team from another state I'm talking about size wise and look test. That was verbatim from a text I received during warmups.
Walter Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 I'm talking about size wise and look test. That was verbatim from a text I received during warmups. As far as size goes, Jay Estime is their's biggest player at 6'5. Him and Durham (6'4) form a pretty big back court but Cooks, the really quick point guard, is only around 5'10-5'11.

Just passing on the text I got from someone who was there.
The Professor Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 I heard they look like a small college team. I was thinking that might be the case. They had a comfortable lead throughout the game on BG, and from what I've read about the Purples this season that isn't easy to do.....unless one is loaded with talent. I wonder if Beckmar has one of those 'put together' type teams such as Oak Hill, or just talent from their school district. That definitely would make a difference playing a public school such as Bowling Green if it is the former.
Wireman Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 I'm talking about size wise and look test. That was verbatim from a text I received during warmups. Oh I believe you. I'm just saying that good high school teams from other states often look like college teams.

The Professor Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 ^ ^ I should have read the entire thread before posting. Post #5 probably explains my above question. Not an Oak Hill type program.
Walter Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Oh I believe you. I'm just saying that good high school teams from other states often look like college teams. They have some big boys in GA. Before the KOB, Berkmar had already played against the following teams/players IN STATE: Pebblebrook: Collin Sexton (2017 6'2 5* Bama Commit), Jatrious Smith (2017 6'4 3* SF), Drue Dinnon (2018 6'0 4* PG), Jared Jones (2019 6'9 4* Auburn Commit) Norcross: Rayshaun Hammons (2017 4* 6'7 UGA commit) , Lance Thomas (2017 4* 6'10 Lville Commit) , JoJo Toppin (2018 4* 6'6 SF), Kyle Sturdivant (2019 3* 6'3 PG with Florida State, Auburn, Iowa State offers) Newton: Ashton Hagans (2019 6'2 4* PG) Crazy how much talent is in that state.
