Ballard Memorial 36 Massac (IL) 7
Congrats to the Bombers on clinching an 8 win season. Their first under coach John Elliot, and first since 2002 under coach Jack Haskins.

McCracken County at Henderson County
On a positive note, at least the OC will be forced to use all the other weapons at his disposal. I'm excited to see how the players respond considering the lack of emotion the last three weeks. Still plenty of Mustangs in the stable but they better come ready to play.

Powder Puff game.....Like grandpa always said "Son, don't get your poonani and your paycheck at the same place"

Redleg, you can inform White Eagle that "it matters". Two of the three are as "major" as it gets.

Hopkinsville vs Graves County
Not sure how it would be an upset as AP poll has Hopkinsville in the top 10 and Graves Co. receiving votes. I'd say a toss up game.
-
Mayfield vs Russellville
You may rethink the score a bit after you compare the Franklin-Simpson/Russellville/Graves Co./Mayfield games. I think it will be closer to a 16 pt difference.

McCracken County at Henderson County
Game got much more interesting. Three MAJOR players for McCracken suspended for missing practice. If true, glad to see the coaching staff doing the right thing!!!

Graves County @ McCracken County predictions
Hope you are correct, I'd like to see lower totals for the ops. BTW, I'm not down on the defense except when they start hand slapping instead of trying to make a tackle. I think the secondary is one of the best pass defense I have seen. If QB's make a mistake it will get picked. I'll agree on the 14 if you can promise me no turnovers:D

Boone County cancels football practice due to yesterday's bomb threat...
They are no longer pranks. They are felonies, and we as adults must continue to stress to kids that behavior like this is no longer a joking matter. Could end up ruining a young persons life over what was considered a joke prior to 9/11/01. Actually started in the 90's with all the school shootings and such. Damn, that corporal punishment prior to 1990 sure was awful huh?

BluegrassPreps.com Kentucky Class 1A Football Rankings for 9-29
Whoa now, wait a minute. I've been to most of the Mayfield / Tilghman games over the last 40 years and never once would I describe it as a "scrimmage" like game. Even the two Mayfield / McCracken games have taken on quite a rivalry atmosphere for such a new series. I understand you are saying you guys work on things to improve (that should go unsaid for all teams) but to entertain CoachBuckett's idea of the first 6 games being like scrimmages is ridiculous from the teams and rivalries I watch.

Graves County @ McCracken County predictions
We'll see if the QB change can help Graves County become a little more balanced. I'd be surprised if McCracken holds them to two TD's, figuring Crider will break two himself and the amount of turnovers McCracken has allowed. They will continue to give up points until they cut down on the turnovers. The defense can be strong but they spend enough time on the field due to the quick scores by the offense. McCracken's passing game should allow them to score enough to break this one open. The Mustangs have a few tweaked players they need to get healthy before district play, so if they can come out strong I look to see subs at some key positions. I'll go with the Mustangs 59-28.

Caldwell County 55 Ballard Memorial 18
Ha, not according to WPSD. They really hyped this game up on the Gridiron Glory previews. No disrespect, but most knew how this would play out. Hyping it up only makes Ballard Memorial look bad in the end.

Paducah Tilghman 28 Henderson County 6
PT winning didn't shock me by any means, but Henderson only scoring 6 was a bit unexpected even after the shutout by Mad-NH. It appears teams with speed give them trouble.

Franklin Simpson 21 Russellville 20
Thanks for the nice recap FSfan. Congrats to FS on a solid win. I had this game marked as one of this week best matchups, and it looks like you got your money's worth.

Franklin-Simpson 28 Graves County 26
With Crider, it was kind of like how much I noticed R. Jones physical improvement this spring. BTW, on seeing him live........that shoulder pad stuff don't count. I want hits and tackles!

^*and just before it goes too far* Sorry all, I Stunsoned that.

Franklin-Simpson 28 Graves County 26
I'm going to take FSfan's great info, mix it in a bowl with what I've seen (Graves at McCracken 7 on 7) and conclude: Franklin-Simpson that good 80% Graves not as good as expected 20%. I can't find it now, but I swear I read somewhere that Graves scrimmaged Hillsboro,TN and played well.

Thanks FSfan, very nice post. You are correct about Crider being a monster. Can't wait to see him live.

Evansville F.J. Reitz (IN) 35 Paducah Tilghman 23
Good point Scribe. Is two years too long? Some tend to think they will lose some players just because of the style, even if winning. Don't understand it but can see the possiblity. Heck, kids choose colleges now days on how the uniforms look. PT's biggest potential enemy is people moving out to county due to city gov. Coach my need to go kiss some babies. Not too many of those downtown relocated artist are bring young athletes with them.

Evansville F.J. Reitz (IN) 35 Paducah Tilghman 23
Some like to give/receive insight on games, no matter how little it may be. I like any information that helps me gauge teams. Could've been a way to say Reitz was a much better team who quit at the end. Or, PT scored 2 late TD's against the JV. So on so forth, you get the drift. I don't know what led him to believe that but it's information to me. I can choose to note or ignore. But the statement, "If Mayfield had scored two more points you (McCracken) would have lost" is not information. That is understood by anyone who knows the final score and can do simple math. Big difference.

The Paducah Sun: McCracken DOMINATES Mayfield
Almost sounds like some underlying bitterness towards McCracken County HS. Not quite, but almost. It's the media folks. You know it's all about what they think is the latest, greatest, flashiest, or dollar grubbing thing they can report. McCracken is the story they think they can sell and will ride it while it last. I think we all agree, we like equal regional coverage. It's just not reality of the business. One can assume 75% of the 25,000 subscribers are in Paducah/McCracken, but more importantly their paid sponsors/advertisers are too. So naturally Tilghman, St. Mary, McCracken, and CCA are going to get top billing. Then they focus on the hot team/s. Not saying it's right, but they do. If PT started dominating sports like they did in the 80's the Sun will be all over it. Those teams and athletes were off the charts great. Example: Late 80's terrible county basketball team upends PT that had Joe Phill, Tremayne Donald, Kurt Barber, Robert Tyler, and many others (Sutton, Woods?). Anyway, it was one of the biggest upsets in all of Region 1 sports history. You would've needed a magnify glass to read the article tucked away on page 5. Same year, PT team destroys same county team in district tourney (90 something to 40 something) and it was front page Sports with huge picture like they beat the Lakers. I learned to accept it long ago. Global to local, the days of quality reporting have probably passed. I only read the Sun because guys leave them laying around at work. Stopped watching WPSD when they started with the whole facebook opinion crap. I want the news not what JoeSmoe thinks about the news.
