Ill give you Cov Cath and the Beach Ball Classic but all that was before January 1. I think they lost a game with hoptown so that is fair as well. But Lincoln and Southwestern are just ok. Clay Co. is no good. And Magoffin Co, Pike Central, Belfry, Breahitt Co. twice, Buckhorn, Bracken Co., Hazard, Mulhlenburg and Powell Co as 10 of your out of district games is pathetic. Granted their district is terrible and I know they have to play those games but for a three time now four time defending region champ and one of the best teams (supposedly) in the mountains in years and a kid that is a lock to win Mr. Basketball, you should play a better schedule in my opinion.

I'm not so sure Boyle will win. I admit i'm an 11th region guy, but I have a ton of respect for Boyle, Lincoln, Wayne..etc. that being said, Lex Cath played a much much tougher schedule the last month than Boyle. Lex Cath is more battle tested IMO and knows how to win games when they get ahead. If boyle falls behind early they could be in trouble. Should be an outstanding game. Ill say LC wins in overtime by 4.

Zan Payne - Lexington Catholic 2018 Michael Moreno - Scott Co. 2019 Tre King - LCA 2017 Will be three really good ones before they are done. Payne has huge upside. Might be really really really good. Moreno as well. All 3 really solid.

The 12th Region: Moving Forward

You never know. I'm sure Ballard and Butler thought that last year as well. Anyway that is off topic. Hope 12th region continues to play good basketball which I'm sure it will. I'm an 11th region guy but I have really liked watching hagen tyler, peyton woods and the lincoln county kids over the past few years. Good basketball!!! -

Assuming Malik Dow doesn't "decide" to move back to Louisville or somewhere else!! -
I like lex cath and Boyle co as sleepers. Unfortunately they play each other in the first round. Lex cath has basically been playing state tournament type games for about two or three weeks now. They won the toughest (without question) district in the state and 6 of their last 9 games were against teams in the top 20 in the state. Boyle has a very very nice team as well. Winning at Lincoln in the region finals after getting blasted there two week ago is impressive. Hagen tyler is one of those kids that is capable of having a miraculous state tournament run. Elkins and Bell are great as well. The best first round game IMO. Should be a great tournament.

I think Catholic wins by about 10. Quick question: I was at EKU last night and saw the joke of an all region team announced between games. How does Lexington Catholic only get one kid on the team? That is comical. Any insight to how this is voted upon? Make region finals after winning arguably the toughest district tournament in the state and get one kid on the all region team. That is hysterical.

Very true statement. Lex Cath always seems to be poised. I think there will be a little drop off next year for Lex Cath. Almost has to be with losing the amount of players they are this year. I know what you are saying though. they are always competitive. year in and year out. -

I think Brandon Salsman and that coaching staff deserve a lot of the credit. Specifically whomever came up with the defensive game plan. Hollingsworth got most of his points in transition. Williams for the most part was held in check. Lex Cath played great defense in the half court and competed on the backboard. That is why they won. Hats off to them. Dunbar is going to be an absolute bear next year. Id be shocked if they aren't pre-season top 5 in the state. Great high school basketball game!!!!!!! That was a region final type game. Looking forward to LCA lafayette tonight. Should be another war. -

The 43rd district finals will also be the region finals in my opinion. -

As of today, who is the favorite to win the 11th region tourney. I would guess right now it has to be bryan station. The are in the region tourney (only have to beat sayre to advance) and play a style that is tough to play against. -

Mason County, will the drought end?

Agree 100%. Would be massive upset if they didn't win the 10th this year. -

I think Lex Cath and LCA have both been building for this year for quite some time. I think they are the two best teams in the region with Bryan Station and Madison Central close behind. Should be interesting down the stretch.
