See my thread about the Browns and OBJ. Basically, he no longer wants to play for the Browns, they tried to trade him but got no offers due to the cap hit they'd take, plus his injury history, plus his attitude, plus his poor showing in games, and so the Browns told him to stay away from their facilities (he's "excused" from practice). They've done this for two days now. I guess they are figuring out what is the best way to part ways with him. They could cut him or they could pay him to sit out for the season. The latter option would be to keep him from signing with a competitor like Baltimore or Pittsburgh. For now, OBJ is in limbo.

The trade deadline is past and the Browns still have OBJ on the team. Prior to the trade deadline, OBJ's father posted a video of OBJ being open and the ball not going his way. It is obvious that OBJ wants to leave the Browns. Mayfield said he was "disappointed but not hurt" by the video. When HC Kevin Stefanski was asked if OBJ was still part of the team he simply said OBJ was excused for today. Ever since OBJ has been at Cleveland there have been complaints that he hasn't been targeted enough by Mayfield, that there is something out of whack with their "chemistry." Stefanski doesn't seem to have been able to fix that either. So, it appears the Browns are at a crossroads with OBJ. His attitude can be poison. Ask the Giants who traded him to Cleveland. Cleveland.com reporter, Terry Pluto, wrote an article detailing the trouble. Cleveland offered to trade Odell but there weren't any takers due to his high cap hit and injury history. Odell had three seasons with the Giants where he was elite, and then injuries began to take him off the field. In 2017 he fractured an ankle that needed surgery. He missed 12 games. In 2018 he had a serious quad injury and again missed games. In 2019 he played every game but didn't practice due to a hernia injury that hampered him all season and was repaired in the offseason. In 2020, he tore his ACL in the seventh game and missed the rest of the season. This season, his shoulder popped out during a game and he indicated that is fairly common for him. If you are counting, he's missed 27 games out of 45 since 2017. Has he been open and Mayfield failed to get him the ball? Absolutely, like all receivers. But has Mayfield been scrambling and looking for an open receiver and OBJ is no where to be seen because he's injured and not on the field? Yes, a whole lot more often than Baker misses him when he is on the field and open. OBJ may be disappointed with the number of targets he gets when on the field but, his absences have also been disappointing. When he was healthy, he was an elite receiver. Is he still that guy? Hard to believe he is with all the injuries he's sustained. I regret what could have been and wasn't. But it isn't all on Mayfield or the coaches or the scheme. You have to be on the field to get the ball. I would love to see flashes of what made Beckham so great in the past. So, I think the time has come. It is mutually beneficial to both OBJ and the Browns to part company now. I hope he lands on a team that can find a way to get him plenty of touches and I sincerely hope he can stay healthy and regain the athleticism and the production that goes with all the swag. I think the Browns need a win. They will show up ready to play and I think it translates into a win. Of course, Joe Burrow is a very talented QB and the Browns have had trouble with teams who have high level QBs.

After defeating the Vikings 14-7 in Minnesota, former Vikings assistant and now Brown's Head Coach, Kevin Stefanski, summarized the win at the end of his locker room speech. "Was it perfect? No. We’ve got things to clean up and that’s okay. But that’s how you win as a team, and I love watching it.” As a Brown's fan, the bold portion just really resonated with me. I love watching this Brown's team.

I get the point... which is don't blame the kid's actions on some third party that isn't anywhere near the situation (like professional athletes). Assign the blame closer to home (literally). But it may not have everything or even anything to do with the parents either. Good parents are not responsible for choices their kids make that go against everything they have been taught. I did lots of asinine things as a teen that I can in no way blame on my parents (and for which I was royally punished... when they knew about it). The kid bears the responsibility and must be made to bear the consequences. Perhaps, poor parenting went into it, but that can only be determined on a case-by-case basis and is almost never 100% the parents' fault. The young man could have done differently but chose not to. I'm not picking on you @wrn1979, just making a point about who is really at fault and therefore must be held accountable. It is the opportunity for a good life lesson for all who are watching. I really liked the comment that said the kid's contrition should be considered when determining the extent of the consequence.

I happened to be there. I did not know what to expect since my son played his last high school football three seasons ago. I only know a few of the boys on Boone's current team. I was at the game because they were dedicating the turf field and had invited past players to come down on the field and participate in the festivities. I was there to watch. My expectation was that Russell would pretty much do what they wanted. However, Boone didn't seem to know that. They jumped out on top and then played pretty well. Two Boone Tds were called back in the first half and the points wiped off the board. Both plays were long passes where the receiver was wiiide open. That was the difference in the game. I really think Boone should have won this game. I heard several comments of "same old Boone." I don't think so. It "felt" different to me. The difference was in the skill positions. They have several ways to score. They haven't had this for some time. The Boone teams I watched during the years I was personally invested really only had one way to score... pound the ball down the opponents throat. This Boone team can score in a hurry from any where on the field. I don't know if they will be able to do this throughout the season against their scheduled opponents, but they have the potential and the opposing defenses will have to account for this fact in ways they did not have to in the past.

That's an impressive list of offers. I don't know why he didn't get the ball more in the championship game against Beechwood.

I had the pleasure of attending this game. As was noted above, LCA could run on BW. I think the LCA coaches will look back at the film and have to ask themselves why they chose to pass at certain key moments, like when down on the BW 13. Towards the end of the first half, LCA started running the ball consistently and they were gashing the BW defense. They turned the momentum of the game with the run. And I thought, "Uh oh, they just found the formula to win this game." On the first possession of the 2nd half, LCA turned loose Xavier Brown and he responded with a 67 yard TD run. The momentum had completely turned at the beginning of the 2nd half. But then it seemed like the LCA coaches started to over-think it. Again, I thought to myself, "If I'm BW, I'd rather the LCA QB pass the ball than run it himself or hand-off to Brown or #9. All three of them were getting large chunks of real estate on the ground. When they went to the air, it was a crap shoot as to what might happen. They were getting 7 yards a carry. Why not stick with the run? Didn't they watch the Dixie film or the film from the previous game with West Carter? Down on the BW 13 with an opportunity to really put the pressure on with a score, my assumption was LCA will pound the ball. It will take them two plays max to score. But, instead they throw a dinky pass out to the side and Hatfield anticipated it and picked it off and added a long return. That was a huge play. You have to give the Tigers a lot of credit. They went through some adversity in this game but hung in there and made the big play when it was needed. Rash picked the right time to throw to a FB that hadn't caught a pass all year and easily score on the first possession of OT with one play. Kick was good. That kick would be the margin of victory as the middle of the BW line came up with a huge block to end the game. I am very happy for BW. What a great victory! Their first 2A State Championship. It was electric.

I was able to get a couple of tickets to this game. It was a really entertaining game. As has been stated, the Dixie line controlled the LOS. Dixie QB ran really strong. And the coach dialed up that long pass play at the right time. The overall game plan for Dixie was well-executed. BW had to rely on a couple of big plays. What a great catch and run Berger had just before the half to allow BW to get back in the game and stymie the momentum being built by DHS. Late in the game, Cole Stammer was in the slot and crossed the middle of the field where Hergott hit him for about 10 yards that Stammer turned into 45. The Dixie defense held and their offense got the ball back. Then that kickoff return for a TD to keep BW in the game following Dixie's 88 yard TD that appeared to put the game away for about 30 seconds. The final few minutes were very exciting. Dixie's offense had the ball and needed two first downs to put the game away. It came down to 4 and 5. A stop by BW would give them a prayer to score a TD and a 2-point conversion. Dixie called timeout and huddled near their sideline. Then they sprinted to the LOS and surprised BW's defense. I can't remember if this is the 4th down when the BW defensive line jumped offsides to give the Red Colonels a first down. The bottom line is Dixie converted both 4th downs to run out the clock for the game. I am interested to hear from someone who was there what happened on that 4th down and 5 when BW jumped offsides. There were about 4 guys who jumped. The BW players popped up immediately and pointed at a Dixie lineman like he had jumped first. They were not able to convince the refs. The fact there were so many defenders makes you wonder. Surely, the BW coaches must have discussed watching the ball so you don't jump offside. Usually there is one guy who jumps. But, as I said, 3 or 4 defenders jumped. Does anyone have any insight to share here? That was the game right there. My impression of DHS is that they were very well coached and pretty disciplined in their execution of the game plan.

Sounds like a perfectly fine day of fishing to me. ? I don't really care much for fishing, either. Perhaps if I would catch more fish and had more patience. But, my friend taught one of my sons to fish and he now loves it. My other son also caught the bug, so the two of them will go fishing at the drop of a hat. I go along just to spend time with my sons. I'll take along a pole and a camp chair. I fish for a while and when I get bored or have had one too many snags, I reel in the bait, sit the pole down and relax in the chair. I watch my sons fish and engage them in a little bit of conversation. That's the best part for me. Oh, the Mexican Restaurant at the end of the day was a good idea too. Since I am not much of a fisherman, my sons have learned a lot from youtube videos. They actually catch fish when they go. And I get to relax a bit while I spend time with them. win-win.

I like what I am seeing between @Rebel and @TheDeuce. It's an honest disagreement and each are willing to admit if they are wrong. Facts do matter and both gentlemen are willing to accept the facts when known.

@CAT DIESEL POWER, The James Dean movie is also the source of the Boone County Rebels nickname, as I have heard the story told by those who were there when the name was selected. That story has credibility as the movie was released in 1955 and the school began in 1954. The first class was polled for a name and it selected "Rebels." Boone Co HS History Over the years, a southern colonel mascot (Mr. Rebel) was adopted and remained the mascot until 2017 when current Principal Timothy Schlotman (and former track coach) did away with the mascot and replaced it with the current BC logo. His reasoning was because many found it offensive to have a mascot that seemed to represent a time in the south that accepted slavery. He reasoned that given the diverse nature of the student body, which includes many immigrant families, it was best to distance itself from a mascot that many find offensive. I also heard that he was asked to do so by a prominent alum who spoke at the 2019 graduation. Because of his respect for her, and given the current cultural atmosphere, he made the decision to change the mascot. It appeared to be a unilateral decision at the time. But at any rate, Mr. Rebel became a thing of the past. My question for those who were offended by the Mr. Rebel mascot or who maybe weren't offended but thought the mascot needed to go because it was offensive to some, do you think it is okay to keep the name "Rebels" or should that also be changed? Keep in mind that the origin of the name was from the movie "Rebels without a Cause" and NOT the Confederacy. (My question is for everyone and not meant solely for @CAT DEISEL POWER)
