@theguru, you got your information pretty early. I heard a rumor the day before. Of course, this same rumor was bantered about last year too. However, the source on Tuesday seemed credible. Your announcement is the first public announcement I've seen. Coach Steele was very good to my son. He enjoyed playing for him over the last 4 years. As to who may become the next Head Coach of the Boone County Rebels, I don't have any names to share. I think it could be a guy who is an assistant on a successful team locally. There are guys who have done well as assistants. They get a reputation among opposing coaches as a guy who is tough to prepare for or always has a good defense etc. and they may be looking for their next opportunity. Mike Woolf comes to mind as an example of this. He built a reputation during his time as the DC at Ryle. He received his opportunity at Campbell County when they came calling last year. I think it may be a person like that who takes the Boone County job. I hope the administration is searching far and wide for the best available candidate, but that doesn't always work out. Unfortunately, we had that at Boone. Whoever gets the nod, I hope he can convince the Boone County school administration to redraw the district lines so that Boone can take in one of the areas with faster population growth. That would held get new talent to Boone High School. I wish the Rebels well in the search.

He was not playing the injury card. I asked a direct question because I know NOTHING about these two teams. In the prediction thread B-Ball-Fan was pretty confident about NCC and so I wondered if there had been significant injuries that could weaken a team. B-Ball-Fan had indicated earlier that CovCath showed themselves to be very good in this game, so no one was trying to take anything away from CovCath in this win.

Is that enough to close the gap in score and make a game of it if those two were healthy?

Was NCC at full strength personnel-wise for this game?

When I went by there in early 2018 there was a lot of construction occurring with more planned. Is the bad parking due to construction or is it always going to be bad because of the design/layout of the facilities?

The Massilon Tigers top RB, Jamir Thomas, will be out due to an ankle injury he suffered in the last game against Winton Woods. He is Massilon's all-time rushing leader in yards (4,025), TDs (56), attempts (773), and scoring (344 pts). He was just 58 yards shy of the single-season rushing record when he was injured in the 3rd quarter of the semi-final game. He has 1,918 yards on the season. He will be watching from the sidelines. His backup, Zion Phifer, is pretty good. In the 4th quarter against Winton Woods he gained 76 yards on 15 attempts and 2 TDs. He also has 623 yards on the season on 126 carries. But how do you replace someone like Thomas? Go Tigers, beat Hoban! BTW, Massilon is pronounced Mass'-lun.

Was he 100% for this game after suffering a nasty ankle injury several weeks ago against Boone? It was mentioned that Wabash College is recruiting Sergent and JJ Courtney. I believe that's an all-boys school. They play D3 and are very successful, this year beating Wittenberg in OT. I don't think they were invited to the D3 post-season, though. Any D3 school that gets Courtney is going to get a steal. He doesn't have much height but he is really solid and hard to block.

Did Christian Webster play for Conner? It looked like he suffered a nasty calf injury in the fourth quarter of last week's game against Cooper. He was down for a while on the field and they helped him off. I saw him after the Cooper game and he was not able to bend his foot to walk normally. That obviously would have had an impact on tonight's game.

Congratulations to Conner on the come from behind victory. And congratulations to Cooper on a hard fought game. The Jaguar seniors gave everything they had to try to win this game. There is nothing to hang their heads about. Sophomore QB Jeremiah Lee also made some very big plays. After one Conner score they attempted a short kick to one of the Cooper middle men who couldn't find the handle, Lee ran up from behind, picked the ball up and eluded the Conner kick team making it all the way down to the Conner 5 yard line. It looked like the Jags were set to score in a move that could have won them the game, but a penalty on the return placed the ball way back to the other side of the field. That one hurt. I can't say if it was a good or bad call. I do know there were several calls the Cooper parents were very upset about. I want to give a shout out to Dillon Perry for a great catch in the front corner of the end zone with the Conner defender applying pretty good defense. The Conner QB, Jared Hicks, did what he does and is a huge reason why Conner won that game. For me, his biggest weapon is his running. The kid is big and athletic and makes plays running the ball. When you come up to stop his run, he dumps it off to the outside and one of his skill players runs up the sideline for a chunk of yards. Hicks iced the game with one of his keepers at the end of the game to get the first down. Victory formation followed. Christian Webster did his job of getting some tough yards. He was dinged up a bit at the end and another back came in and with fresh legs ran well. Corey Parsons had an awesome game from the interior of the DLine. He was in the backfield quite a bit and made some big plays including a couple of sacks. Michael Spencer had a bunch of tackles for Cooper. And he ran a slant pattern across the middle of the field and caught the ball in stride racing into the end zone from his TE position. I hope his Dad got that on film because it was pretty. He's been one of my favorite football players to watch since my kid was in the 4th grade. Ayden Camp, LB for Conner, has a motor and is one of the fiercest competitors you will find. He seemed to be directing the Conner defense from his LB spot, exhorting his teammates to hold tough. I was glad to see, for his sake, that he will play another night with his High School teammates. This was such a good game to watch, from the stand point of seeing two rival teams leave everything on the field, that I didn't mind the cold. I have watched boys on both teams since midget BCPWFL days. It was a pleasure getting to know all the parents and share some great memories together. For the Cooper parents, I know that feeling when the clock is ticking down to the end of the game and your team is on the short end. One of the greatest chapters of your life has played out. You supported your kid in his athletic endeavors (and a whole of other worthwhile things) since he was young and now for many, those days are over. But you've done your job. You've provided some great opportunities for your child to learn important life lessons and it will soon be time to release them to the next phase of their life where they won't lean on you quite as much. Cherish the times you had and be sure to let your son know how much you treasure those times you've spent together. Good luck to the Conner Cougars! All valid points @futurecoach! We will find out how much Cooper has improved in their matchup with Conner on Friday night. It should be an exciting game and I plan to be there.

This is the end of the road for Henry Clay. Stop #9 and HC has no offense. He only had around 70 yards against Boone but three of those runs went for TDs.

I think it was a huge factor also. I believe GRC would have won that game. He is hard to stop and I think the biggest difference would be in keeping the ball away from Cooper.
