Marshall County at Owensboro Predictions/Updates
The Round Ball Dellusional Parent Syndrome is REAL in KY! I read somewhere, that the most common profession chosen by 7th grade boys in Kentucky is NBA player. Well that's what they think! I coached for several years, and it always amazed me at how unrealistic kids and their parents were about what it takes to make it to the collegiate level in any sport, nonetheless basketball. It is sad to hear that the same "problem" is rampant in rural schools. What is a solution? I mean hey 12 scholarships for basketball, 55 for football should be a good sign for folks but they can't get it. I will also throw in that the 4th string DT could be a starting OG in most places too HAHAHA

Marshall County at Owensboro Predictions/Updates
Marshall County has always been a basketball school. Marshall has amazing facilities for all sports but you can tell the emphasis on basketball by the Gym and Aux. Gym. I graduated from MC in the late 90s and we were very successful, and it was running a 2 tight Wishbone with backs that ran about 4.9 and an OL that avg 6'3 and about 275. The most successful teams in school history were big, slow and hard nosed. One other thing that hinders MC are the parents. they do not have any realism what so ever when it comes to their little johnny's talent and capabilities. This is seen 2 fold.... 1) Little Johnny is 5'8 and runs a 5.1 and momma is certain that he will go to UK to play basketball, and because of this certainty there is ZERO possibility he will play football because he might get hurt and lose his ride to UK. 2) Little Johnny is 6' and runs 5.2 forty and his daddy has coached him since little league and Johnny needs to be in the slot or running back position, and the dad has some clout in the boosters. Thus pressuring the HC to play Johnny out of position which hurts the whole team. There have been 2 very successful coaches at MC, Jim Shelton who was a my way or the highway guy, and took zero GUFF from anyone. He had tremendous support in the building and at the district level, but was undone when a homegrown lady got the principalship and had an axe to grind and forced Jim out. The other was Mike Lawson. He came along with a similar attitude, running a spread offense and more modern 4-4 defense. He was fortunate to catch 5 years of great talent at MC before he left to return closer to home and take the Central Hardin Position in 2008ish. Anyhow, I am not sure how much support Coach Bloodworth and his staff has or if he is tough enough to make the program his by keeping out the noise from parents and boosters.

Meade County at Collins Predictions/Updates
Just doesn't seem to work for everyone does it? Sadly you can be power running in the Gun and no huddle but it makes it obvious you're grinding the clock lol I played highschool football at Marshall Co in the late 90s. We were pretty good ball club for a bunch of country boys with little to no speed, but dang we could pack the box and run the option out of the wishbone. If you didn't score 21 you were not going to beat us.

Logan County 33 McCracken County 16
Could McCracken go 0-4 or 0-6 to start the season? Not sure how good Clarksville NW or Union Country are, but then McCracken gets Mayfield, Union County, Murray, Hopkinsville, then Christian County. Will be interesting to see how the Mustangs do.

Central Hardin at Elizabethtown Predictions/Updates
Wasnt too many eons ago that CHHS was pretty successful running the spread with Mike Lawson at the helm. Systems work when given time and you train your players to be system players. Spread, Wing-T, Wish Bone, doesn't matter what the preferred system is. Any good system will have variations that will allow for success depending on the capabilities of the athletes within that system. We all have seen a spread team that runs option 90% of the time, and we have seen Wishbone team that scores nearly everytime they sling the rock! Key to any system is buy in and belief! Hard for a coach to put in his system and find success while fighting the arm chair quarterbacks, drug store cowboys, and the pro level expert uncles in the barbershops that won the little league championship as a player in 6th grade. With that said, I believe Coach Gregory will be successful at CHHS, but I am not sure they will be successful Friday night against Etown lol!

Murray at Apollo Predictions/Updates
I think this is a product of the game today. Lots of Coaches especially at small schools quick whistle practice and the big boys don't get used to going to the whistle. The lineman are great to contact, but don't finish blocks. That quick whistle hurts lots of OL Play and staying with the blocks!

Is this the only opening left unfilled? I know JCPS moves slow, but this is crazy!

Open Job: Central Hardin
Would Bardstown be down the parkway or would it be up? Isn't there a guy that retired over that way who could be a big hire for the Bruins!
-
Open Job: Pleasure Ridge Park
Let's say I heard this opening is because of insubordination.....

Open Job: Pleasure Ridge Park
Have heard that JCPS athletic directors will fire a coach for looking at other jobs (assistant coach, college, head coach etc...) ..... could this be the case now?

Open Job: Central Hardin
As things blow over in Cecilia, will the applicant pool deepen? This job screams toxic all over it but someone (probably a young unpoven) will end up with it because they are too young to know better! Whoo are the young coordinators in the area who might take a shot at this??? or is there someone out there who needs a redemption opportunity? or would someone like Larry Mofield who is retiring but may still need to coach be their guy? Inquiring Minds want to know!

Open Job: Central Hardin
The only one who will take this position is the one who worked to get the previous fella fired, someone who has ZERO to lose and has the mindset that any HC job is better than no HC job, or someone too dumb and inexperienced to understand that the precedent is now set and they will be next one fired. this is the apex of being hired to be fired in the coaching world, except now the super has made it painfully obvious that getting fired is easier now than ever in Hardin County Schools. couple of questions...... 1) Does this new precedent change things for Coach Thompson and Coach Preston at their respective schools? 2) How does this precedent sit with other Principals within the district now that the superintendent will supercede the building administration and make them truly powerless when it comes to maintaining and running their buildings????

Open Job: Central Hardin
This is truly unfortunate if this is the case. Morgan has been the super for a long time, and there have been lots of coaches that needed to be let go in the district and she has never acted or been involved before.... this seems extremely odd for things to change now..... It is just odd for such micromanagement to be in play in a district this large......
-
Open Job: Central Hardin
The Super wouldn't have made this decision. This would have to have come from the building principal and the ad. Who is the principal there? the only thing I ask myself is could this have been a staffing issue and done due to budget cuts? The funding and building allowances start getting done about this time of year. Non tenured teachers are the first to be pink slipped but that is rare for a coach.

Things going down like this has to make this job less than desireable. If you're the AD at CHHS, who are you picking up the phone and reaching out to about this opening?

Just an observation...rarely is it the kids who aren't bought in to the team concept, but rather mommies, daddies, grannies and aunties that don't buy into the team concept therefore the kids don't buy into the concept. Coaches can't out talk the noise in a kids ear when the family knows more, tells the kids how they aren't being treated right, and that going somewhere else is the solution...... Fidelity is a rare commodity, so is discipline, so is honoring your word and being a good teammate as well. Sometimes it is good to lose that cancereous mindsets and famileis for the sake of the greater good..... nothing made me happier than my problem leaving and becoming someone else's problem.

Open Job: Glasgow
I hope the Scotties are able to get their man. it sure sounds like alot of shopping around going on. If a coach has an ego, not being the first choice is a big deal. if the coach doesn't have an ego not being the first choice is a big deal. Especially if it is a tough situation. If things do go well right off the bat, the community, the school, even the kids, know the HC wasnt the first choice and it complicates the relationship with wandering eyes and longing hearts thinking about what the other guy who didn't come to the job could have done. I believe the hart co coach has been job shopping the last couple of years. I have heard of him being offered a couple of positions last off season and I heard he was in the mix for meade co job. So I wonder if her is playing both ends against the middle trying to strengthen his position with Hart Co by applying to places like Glascow, Meade co, and last year Marshall Co???

Any word to make this official?

Not many HS OCs are allowed Carte Blanche to run what they want. 99.9% of the OCs I know or have known run the offense / system as dictated by the Head Coach. So Barnes isn't running it because the headman probably said no.

Open Job: Owensboro
No offense, but it would not be the first time a coach has said no no I am staying while the moving truck is pulled up to the porch! Nothing to see here! lol
