  1. Anyone have any info on games at Campbellsville High on Nov. 25th? I heard there was a Panorama there that day, just curious on who is participating and game times.
  2. This to me is a non-issue. Most schools replace or buy a couple new balls anyway, and if they don't want to or can't buy new balls they don't have to. You can use any ball you want during the regular season, only a district or regional hosting team would have to purchase the new balls from Spalding. Having held and used the Rawlings, spalding, Adidas, and Rock basketballs used by different schools, I don't see there being a big difference in feel and such. It's round, dribbles, and will go through the goal all the same.
  3. Watching only Louisville city teams, imo, does not give a great representation of bball for the entire state.
  4. This is one of best threads I have seen in a while on here. Very cool to get to see some of these gyms! I have been in a lot and in most of those mentioned except Harlan County's new gym and a few others. Harlan's looks nice, would love to see it in person. But I really like Pulaski, Marshall, and the Fieldhouse. All three are great places for large attendance games. For that old gym mystique feel I like Henry and Hazard. Montgomery is very nice, but I always loved watching games in the Barn, neat atmosphere, so for some reason I always feel a little disappointed when going into their new gym. You know I would love to watch a high school game in one of the old fish bowl style gyms. There was one in Fleming Co., not sure of the school name, where the only access to the floor was a ladder or two attached to the walls surrounding most of the court. Anyone know of such a gym that is still being used?
  5. Anyone know anything about Ky Vision out of Berea area?
  6. What are the current khsaa rules/policies on high school coaches coaching AAU teams?
  7. Here is my take on both topics floating on this thread: For summer AAU ball there has to be a balance...(which doesn't exist often imo) between playing some games and working on skills. You learn to play the game by playing the game, but you don't develop skills by just playing the game. Those are developed separately. A good AAU program can be good for some if in the right situation, but overall is probably a negative for most. If a kid is on a good TEAM that plays together and doesn't worry about individual flare or exposure and has a good coach then AAU can be a good experience. With all that being said, as a huge fan of basketball, I do not enjoy watching AAU games in most cases, nor do I enjoy the environment. AS for the D1 debate.....if you study or research statistics on all three sports about the number of HS athletes who play on in college then you will see that it is very low for all three. Around 3-4% for basketball, 6% for baseball and football (depending on which study you look at). Yes basketball is the lowest, but also take into account numbers on rosters in college. Regardless, odds for all three are extremely low, and is why you play a sport because you love it, not based on which one you think will get you on a college roster. Cause most will be disappointed by the lack of making on a college roster. Plus, a lot of those in that 3-6% range that make it (the superior athletes) would probably make it in any of those three sports anyway if they chose to concentrate on any of the three. So, let them play what they love and enjoy being on a team to achieve a common goal and make memories!!! That's what HS sports is about,......or should be imo.
  8. Outside of Bolden there are no other primary ball handlers. Guard play will be the demise of this team if he gets in foul trouble. Decent looking roster size wise though.
  9. Spencer Perrin is probably the best player to come out of Boyle. Only player to play professionally from that area that I know of. Hard to argue against that. Perrin, from what I saw of him, was not the shooter that Tyler is now. Tyler could be argued to be one of the best shooters to come from the school.
  10. We are still looking for a team to play with this spring/summer if anyone knows of a team that needs players or is having tryouts.
  11. We live in Central KY. South of Lex.
  12. Spencer Perrin did score 45 vs. Danville in 2007. That is Boyle's school record.
  13. We'll I have been to this tourney before but don't remember it ever being that blatant. So OBVIOUSLY some of us are aware that teams stack the deck...
  14. Also heard that Tyler for Boyle was sick with a stomach bug or something. Sure didnt seem himself. Anyone know for sure if that was the case? If so, then if I'm Lex Cath I wouldn't be overly excited about their win considering the imbalance of the schedule and Tyler's possible illness.
  15. Drove up to watch this game anticipating a good one. While entertaining atmosphere, game was a bit of a disappointment. Boyle looked terribly flat and lex catholic was as hot as any team I've seen in a while. They were throwing in shots from 25 ft!! But not sure Boyle should have anything to be ashamed about though. They battled to cut the game to nine or so, but just seemed to run out of gas. One thing that is bugging me. Did anyone else notice the crazy set up for the bracket for the tournament?? For instance boyle was playing their fourth game in four days, playing Bryan Station, Cov Cath, Apollo to get to the semis. While Lex Cath played Belfry, got a day off, then played Casey to get to the finals. I mean I know host schools will put things in their favor, but come on that is blatantly ridiculous. Also some other teams didn't play till Saturday and some other got days off while several teams like boyle we're having to play 4-5 games in a row. Seems like an awful lot to ask of kids if you want them to compete at a high level.
  16. One big consideration on this stat would be how many of those were shot in the 4th when CCH was having to foul to try and get back in the game. fT stats do not always represent officiating, if that is what is being implied here. Heard that Boyle controlled most of the game.
  17. Oh and for the record, after watching several of the games in the tournament, I again feel sorry for the 13th region players and coaches. Some of the worst officiating I have ever seen...some of the most inconsistent officiating I have ever seen.
  18. Ok, I was at this game sitting on the score table side near center court. From that angle there was no body contact, probably 1-2 ft between the two players. If Boyle's big fouled then it was up top on the arm, which I don't think he did. Looked like all ball. IMO no foul should have been called..all around me felt the same. After looking at the clip posted here, it looks much more like a foul. Which was the angle of the official had. So, just proves to me that angle and position can greatly influence the perceived call.
  19. It appears that the 16th is way down this year. If Rowan is the top team then the region is waaaay down.
  20. I watched this game and SW was very impressive. The best team I saw Saturday at Smith Classic at south Laurel. Although, I did not see the final two teams play. Rowan was very much out matched. Maxpreps missed that ranking terribly.
  21. Anyone know who is playing in the Jamboree at Campbellsville U tomorrow night?
  22. Looking more for next summer but does anyone know of any 10u or 12u aau teams that may be looking for players for next summer? Or even possibly this fall. When does the youth aau season usually come to an end? I'm looking for opportunities for some boys to play throughout the year. Any advice?
  23. IMO I don't see how Wayne cannot be seen as the favorite. Basically everyone back, minus Perkins who I think can be replaced, and the defending champs. Lots of experience and they nearly ran the table last year. As for Boyle, they never even came close to beating Lincoln in three games. Even with the new Bell kid I would simply call it a push at the point guard position vs Taylor. But I haven't seen too much of Bell to know if he is that much better than Taylor.
