  1. I didn't offer excuses, i simply stated facts. Etown fumbled at the 5. Fact. Etown dropped a 4th down conversion at the 10. Fact. Kid was wide open without a defender in sight and simply dropped the ball. Can't credit the defense for that. Lot's of teams aren't at 100% health. Etown is missing Swank who is one of a handful of seniors on the team and goes both ways. That along with other kids being banged up. No excuses, North came from behind and did what they needed to do to win. Props to them for doing that and being 4-0. They've got at least 3 losses on the schedule from what I see, possibly 4. Fair to note that they don't play any 5A or 6A teams besides the 2, 6A games they have to play for district. Although I understand this and wanting to get the program turned around, this could come back to bite them come playoff time.
  2. John Hardin is not where they should be. If you talk to anyone around that program they will tell you the same thing.
  3. Not bitter at all. Etown should have easily been up 21-0 in the first half but made mistakes that didn't allow that to happen. Fumbled on the 5 yd line, dropped pass on a 4th down conversion on the 10. Turnovers in the 2nd half and mental mistakes were killers. Most of Etown's players go both ways, maybe 2 guys switch over when offense/defense does. Even with that they held NH scoreless in the 1st half. I was under impressed with North's offense with Bankhead in. They looked 1 dimensional. When the sophomore qb came in their offense got better because they began to run the ball more. My comments on North were based off the eye test. They are a good team, not great by any means and they will lose when they begin to face stiffer competition.
  4. Yes, North is 4-0 but let's not act like they are world beaters. The 4 opponents they have beaten are a combined. 5-11. North is a 6A school and those opponents have been 3, 3A schools and 1 4A school. Props to them and their coaches for getting the program moving in the right direction. I've seen them play and honestly wasn't impressed. Once they begin to play some higher level competition in 5A/6A I don't believe they will fair very well. Depending on the south injuries I can see them winning this game by 2-3 TDs
  5. The Ford kid at SW lives in their district. They ruled him eligible a couple weeks ago, he started practicing and WC appealed it. Now they have to wait at least 15 days for the appeal. The KHSAA is a joke. If the initial ruling is that he can play then he should be able to play without penalty through the appeals process. All WC is doing is hurting these kids future. WC administration is the one who blew up their own program.
  6. 5- Trinity 3-North Hardin 3-Manual 1-Newport Central Catholic 1-Southwestern 1-Corbin 1-Gerrard 1-Wayne 1-Frankfort 1-Ashland TB- 51
  7. Honestly to me, it shouldn't matter. Why is the student-athlete the only one who gets punished for transferring? Coaches, administrators, teachers etc.., transfer within the district and out of it all the time and no repercussions. This applies at the collegiate level as well. There have been a couple of situations in the last couple years where Head Coaches agreed to become the HC of one school only to leave a couple weeks later to go to another school. Kids have 4 years in HS. They should be able to go where they want so long as their parents can get them there. Maybe it's a situation where the player and HC just don't get along. Or maybe the player is behind someone in the depth chart that is only a year older and they don't want to wait until their senior year to play. Shouldn't they have the same freedom to change as the adults have?
  8. I've heard the same. OC from Central Hardin
  9. Any candidates on the staff?
  10. Heard today that the Head Coaching position at Hart Co. is open.
  11. What's the latest on Witherspoon? Is he expected to be back. If so, he definitely helps to make JH a contender.
  12. The 2016 squad does have a talented group of Juniors coming in. They did win their regular season conference championship in 8th grade and were only bested that season by a Bluegrass Middle school which featured Anthony Witherspoon. This years 8th grade group won the regular season championship and made it to the final four of state. Lots of talent in both of those groups. Tons of skill players. They key will be how the line develops and if they are able to add some size. I expect them to have a good season this year, win district and have a decent run in the playoffs. I think the 2017 season you could see a run like they had this year or better.
  13. And that's the problem. West Jessamine isn't having success so no one is complaining that they are way to big to be playing in 4A. SW has had success the last 3-4 years and that is all you have heard. If SW was going 5-5 or 4-7 you wouldn't hear a word.
  14. It's painfully obvious that this is being done for 1 reason and that is to move SW. Fact is, if SW wasn't having the success they have had this wouldn't even be a topic of discussion and the khsaa wouldn't be looking to move a team mid stream. Guess all those complaining about SW will finally get their wish.
  15. My 13 year old has been wearing a Xenith for 3 years now. He loves it. First time he ever hit with it on he said, "I can't even feel the hits to the head." I'm a big fan. My 10 year old wore one for the first time last season.
  16. And 62, Jacob Lacey is only a freshman. Kid is going to be a beast.
  17. I was at that game. Incredible finish to a great game!
  18. Was the Collins win over Highlands a couple years ago their first?
  19. This was the 5th year of Varsity football for SW. Are they the youngest program to win a title? I would exclude those that combined two varsity programs into one.
  20. Not sure you can leave Austin McElwain off the defensive side. He lead SW in tackles in the Championship game. But pulling 11 kids on each side of the ball from 12 championship caliber teams is a difficult task.
  21. Male SW BG Belfry Pulaski Lafayette Mayfield JC Pikeville NCC Lex Cath Beechwood
  22. Sounds like the redistricting is only going to affect the elementary schools. Which won't have an immediate impact on the High Schools but obviously will in 5-8 years.
  23. Worst officials I've seen all year. Thank God this isn't a close game where these terrible calls could make a difference
  24. Official halftime stats: JC: Rushing, 14 attempts for 15 yds Passing: 1/4 40yds SW: Rushing- 20 attempts, 78yds Passing- 8/15, 116 yds
  25. How does the SW defense matchup with the power run game of JC? JC looks to have some huge kids in the backfield and on the O Line. Can the SW defense stop those big RBs? If so, how?
