My apologies to the referees, as you are absolutely correct it was on Stapleton with the push and the reach was missed. Whether the outcome would have been different at Beechwoods home court I couldn't say. From a performance standpoint and having watched several of the Tigers players over the years I would have to say that other than for some rust in the early part of the game they played very well and despite the loss look poised to make some noise in the district race. Again a huge shout out to the Lady Tigers, and best of luck to both teams as they head into the District Tournament next week.

First off, a huge shout out to the Lady Tigers for willingly switching venues, time and format to allow the Lady Eagles to honor their seniors on their home court. True class act from top to bottom. On to the game: Lady Eagles took the early lead and extended it out to double digits forcing multiple turnovers early as the press really bothered the Lady Tigers. A combination of substitutions, change of press format and the Lady Tigers settling in allowed them to claw their way back into this one and actually take the lead late in the 4th. A questionable call with time winding down tied the game at 50 following the free throws. Tiger's ball, the short jumper is missed and Anna Clephane makes what can only be described as a monster acrobatic "that ball is (insert lady like expletive) mine" rebound and rockets up the court. Timeout called with just over 3 seconds on the clock. On the following inbounds play Kallmeyer is able to sneak in for the game winning layup at the buzzer. This game saw outstanding performances for the Lady Eagles by Trempe, Brennan and Stapleton who combined for multiple 3's on the night. Tonight also saw the return of Dant for the first half who picked up where she left off as the beast under the boards. Now before anyone jumps me about ref cheating (read the Holmes/CC post)....blah blah blah. I'll explain. With time winding down, Beechwood's Olivia Stokes makes a solid drive to the basket. Kallmeyer, out of position makes reach in to knock the ball out of the dribbling hand and Stokes went down. It was clearly a reach and the whole crowd knew it. But Kallmeyer was also hit with an intentional as well which was absurd. Of course what had the crowd so upset was the timing of the call could have changed the outcome of the game. That said Kallmeyer was the first to Stokes' side to help her up.

While not at the game and not interested in the debate about refs, (Capt, do what you got to do). I would like to here about the girls!!! Please somebody on both sides talk about who had outstanding performances both offensively and defensively. I feel like I have read 4pages about the 3 referees, nothing about the 10 to 16 +/- girls that played the game!

Always overlooked because of her focus on the intangibles if your looking at Juniors you might want to include 2G/PG Kallmeyer of Scott in that discussion as she out jumped both Skinner and Simms on the opening tip. Also leading scott in steals, assists and deflections.

Agree. If Cooper had 30 turnovers against Ryle, I would expect substantially more for this game. Good luck to both teams but I'll take Holmes by a bunch in this one.

Having watched both teams play at their best and most intense, witnessing the skill levels, physicality and strengths of both teams I can say this. SK has 3 players in Bosse, Neace and Meier, that are a tick above their CC counterparts. This in no way takes anything away from the CC players as these 3 are near the top in their respective positions. That said I think CC presents the challenge of being very skilled at all positions, possessing greater depth and more importantly greater balance making them hard to defend.

NKY has benefitted significantly over the last couple of years from girls participation in AAU or other offseason league play. IMO it has raised not just the skill level of players but also the competition factor between HS teams. This season, i have seen nothng to indicate that players are going lightly on each other. In many cases I have seen just the opposite where the girls seam to elevate the level of play even farther for those games where they are competing against thier friends .

This is a tough one to call. Both teams are playing very well and should be one of the better games to watch this week, but of course I will take the Lady Eagles especially coming off a convincing win over NDA.

Knew this would be a good game. Sorry to here about , Kylie Kramer she is a heck of a player our prayers go out for a speedy recovery. Can't wait to see the stats on this game. Congrats to the Lady Camels on a hard fought win. Proof positive the 10th is coming to play tournament time.

This should be a fight to the end. Lady Camels have the speed to contain SK's big 3 and aren't afraid to be physical. Outside shooting wise I think CC has more options than SK. That said the difference in this game could boil down to Meier and Bosse. Now all that said look for SK, coming off the loss to Franklin County, to come out and try to make a statement against Campbell.

Not the result I was expecting and couldn't make the game. Hope to hear some details on this one.

The Lady Eagles have certainly presented different personalities this season. Could make for an interesting seasons end.

It was great to see you and several of the girls at the last couple games. I know mine appreciated the support.

Scott, recovering from their Highlands hangover, played pressure defense early forcing multiple turnovers and bad shots allowing the Lady Eagles to take an early lead and hold it it through the end of the 1st (23-12 Eagles). Early foul trouble in the 2nd hurt the the Lady Eagles scoring, but continued pressure defense kept Cooper from closing the gap and the Lady Eagles were able to stretch their lead to 37-22 at the half. Second half saw much the same with Scott applying pressure in the half court. Defense looked a little ragged for both teams and on the positive side for the Lady Jags they seemed to be money from the 3pt line. Third qtr finished with Scott stretching its lead slightly to 58-43. Fourth qtr saw several scores by both teams in transition allowing Scott to outscore Cooper 22-20 for the final score 80-63. It was mentioned above that the Lady Jags looked lost. At times I would agree. Open shooters often elected to pass the ball instead of taking the open shot, while defensively Cooper plays aggressively but sometimes clusters and gets out of position giving multiple open looks. But much like Conner this team has a lot of talent outside of Held and Anderson and as maturity and confidence comes whether this season or next they will be a dangerous team in the future.

Agreeing with RC this was definitely a game of 2 halves. I am sure I'll take crap for this but at halftime (27-19) Eagles had the Birds right where I felt the Eagles needed to be. Coming off the Conner game I felt they would go for the kill quickly and if the Eagles could weather the storm (within 10 and on the plus side of the foul count) then they would be in the hunt at the end. To my point the Eagles came out in the 2nd half and quickly cut the lead to under 5. And then the wheels came off. Kallmeyer, who was lights out (scoring 9pts) in the 1st half only took 2 shots the entire 2nd half. Congrats to the Ladybirds on a great game. Next up for the Lady Eagles and hoping to break the Boone Co. jinx is Cooper.

Sorry RC. I got suckered the night of the Ryle game a good friend and Ryle parent. Not this time. No matter how you slice it this it is a David and Goliath tale. And since the only thing on the line in this game is pride. I can only hope that each team comes out, plays their best represents their school and girls basketball in the best way possible, and it turns out to be a game for the ages....no matter the outcome.

I am assuming they are good to go. They haven't seemed to bother her in a while, that I am aware of.

Interesting question. Is 30 excessive? I can't in good conscience say yes when our actions are just the opposite. In our household we haven't stopped for several years going from volleyball (30+ matches 3-5 games nightly), to basketball (30+ games), to track season (15+ events) and AAU season (huge overlaps but 40-50 games) all at the varsity level since freshman year. That said it has not always been a smooth ride. Proper diet is critical as well as sufficient rest from day to day. Sometimes mental fatigue sets in before physical fatigue. One thing that IMO has helped significantly is cross training through different sports, working with different coaches and developing different skills during different seasons, building strengths that carry over to each consecutive season. Additionally, whether boy or girl each athlete does have a limitation and each one is different. We as parents must be active monitors of our children, put pride aside and be prepared to step in when needed. What is ones limitation may not be another's. Is 30 to much? That 100% depends on the child, the situation and the parents GUT feeling. Good luck to all our girls in that they are always healthy and happy.
