mcpapa
Is the coach of the year "automatically" the winner of the regional tournament?
Tweety Pie
Not on girls side. To my knowledge all region teams and coach of the year voted on by coaches
gold sunrise
Player of the year has to be GRC's Sandra Skinner who has committed to VCU.

Tweety Pie
Player of the year has to be GRC's Sandra Skinner who has committed to VCU. Why does it have to be? A college commitment doesn't make you a front runner. Bailey Cummins of Bracken Co. has had a better season.

Was selected to the All State Team in the State Tourney last year too.
Tweety Pie
Check their numbers. Baileys just a jr this season. Come on Goldie... You been around a while-- why does being selected to a jr all star team last year mean she should be player of the year her senior season? Let me add she's a nice player and may be POY, however her commitment to VCU and selection to a jr all star team doesn't mean she's had best season

Tweety Pie
Thanks Opie! I wouldn't be upset if Skinner won it, but base it on this years statistics and play.
mcpapa
Skinner of Clark County has had a great season, is a senior and a big-time commit. She will get the nod. Here are the three (probable) front-runners, IMHO, along with PPG, FG%, FT% and REB. Can't get stats for assists on the Scoreboard. Skinner, Clark County - 17.3/57.0%/56.3%/10.5. Shoots FGs better than FTs, a lot of points down low. Cummins, Bracken County - 23.1/48.0/72.3/7.0 Leading scorer by far in the region. Sims, Bourbon County - 17.5/44.6/70.12/7.8 Probably third in a three-way race.
Tweety Pie
Any of the 3 would be more than worthy to hold the title! What about Coach?
Tweety Pie
23ppg 7rpg 48% FG 73% FT MC Papa posted them two posts ago And if accomplishments matter Class A State All Tourney All Time leading scorer Most points in a single season

Also you have to look at the competition they have played against...Makes a huge difference. Also a more balanced team will have players sharing the scoring. Also you CANNOT go by just points scored alone.
