By stats, yes. But then I would offer two arguments. One that Weyer has a MUCH bigger sample size due to injury, and two the field goal percentage is slightly slanted because it doesn't take into account how many times the big fella has laid it in from within 5 feet. At the end of the day, they are both phenomenal basketball players and I hope they get to go against each other Friday. I would take a team full of either of these two guys, and wish them both best of luck.

Your stat line does not mean you are the most talented kid on the court. You guys are acting like I said he is the most dominant, unstoppable player on the court. Not my intentions. My point is that every time McNeil steps on the court, 99% of the time he is the best ball handler, slasher, and shooter on the floor. He doesn't always dominate a game like Weyer does, but he is also isn't 4-5 inches taller than everyone else. Weyer is a fantastic player, I am not knocking the kid. I have watched him a few times. When he is on, he dominates a game on both ends. But that doesn't make him more talented.

Not a poke at all. I don't think it is a knock on Weyer at all to say Sean is more talented. I didn't say he was a better basketball player. I didn't say Weyer is no good. By more talented I meant what it sounds like. When McNeil steps on the floor he is the most talented player on the court on just about any night. Better dribbler, shooter, slasher, etc. than most people on the floor. I think it is accurate. Is Weyer the player of the year? Without question. Is he a spectacular basketball player? No question. Does he dominate a game more than McNeil? Probably, but he is also 5-6 inches taller. Is he more talented than McNeil? In my opinion he is not. He doesn't dribble as well, drive as well, or shoot as well. I don't think that is poking the bear at all. There are not 3 people in NKY that are more "talented" than McNeil, in my opinion. Not a knock on anyone else, just saying the kid is super talented. Think of it this way, if McNeil had the height of Weyer and they both still had the same exact skills right now, who would you say is more talented? Again, not a knock, just saying McNeil is better in certain individual areas. But honestly, if NCC needs bill board material, I hope they would find something better than me saying McNeil is the most talented kid on the floor.

What really intrigues me is three different things: 1.) We all know both of these coaches are fantastic. What does Coach Sullivan implement to try and limit Weyer and on the flip side how does NCC account for McNeil. 2.) Does Cooper learn anything from the first meeting? What I mean by that is I am pretty sure that Weyer had 9 million blocks or altered shots in the first meeting, how does Cooper counteract that? 3.) Does NCC try and run and go up tempo on the big floor since Cooper has limited depth without Hendrix and Kunkel, and especially if McNeil is not able to suit up? Or does Cooper try and run and get some points in transition to try and "wear out Weyer"? (See what I did there) ha ha. Seriously though, this game is the one I want to see the most out of all 4 and not just because of my affiliation with Cooper.

I don't disagree at all, I think his shot will be rusty, although he has been able to get shots up for the last week or so without the cast on. That is different than being in a game. I do think he is still the guy that they can rely on though with his ability to create, and I bet his left hand has become even stronger since it was all he had for a month. I would expect him to still be the most talented player on the court if he suits up Friday.

Haven't seen a thread on this game yet, although have seen a little discussion in other threads about it so I thought I would get it started. What is everyone's thoughts on this game? If McNeil is back can Cooper pull the upset? How do they stop/limit Weyer and force the others to beat them? If McNeil is back, how does NewCath limit him and is he rusty? How do you prepare if you are NewCath not knowing if he will play or not? A lot of questions to be answered. What say you?

Honestly, to me, that is the one team I did not want to see Cooper matched up with. I love that it is on Friday because Sean could be back by then, but they are the one team with a dominate interior game which is what Cooper struggles with.

Tough end to the game for Cooper. I think Scott for Conner walked at the end but totally understand why the whistle wasn't blown because he turned it over. Rohlman for Cooper gets the ball and gets it knocked away from him straight into Garnett's hands for an easy layup that Hendrix had to foul him on. Hard to tell if the buzzer went off or not but it was a fantastic game! It is scary to me how good this Cooper team could be if healthy all year! Down 3 starters at the end of the game and still had a chance to win! No moral victories, IMO, but you have to love how the young guys battled in this game for Cooper. The future is bright! Congrats to Conner. I hate saying that ha ha ha

Injury bug finally catches up to Cooper tonight. Congratulations to Conner they played well but you could definitely tell Cooper missed McNeil and Kunkel tonight, especially when Hendrix went down. Pair that with an off night for C. McNeil and you get a Conner 1 point win. Not looking past region tournament but Cooper looks like they are gonna be scary good next year

Agreed, I think what made the situation worse was the hesitation by the two officials. Almost made it look like they didn't know what they wanted to call for a split second or who was going to make the call. I think they should have huddled before the call was made and talked it through after the moment of hesitation. I know one thing for sure, I wouldn't want to be a high school official lol. Especially with the gentleman from Ryle that was on a mad dash toward them after the game.

I totally agree! Will be interesting to watch those two battle. Dante is the best defender in the area for a reason, and Scott really knows how to get to the basket and his post up game is nice. I think Hendrix's length could cause problems for Scott, but he always seems to get his. The key to me is who guards Hemmerich and how well they can handle him. Do you go with a little more length in Rohlman but not as much butt behind him? Or does Coach Sullivan go with Runion who is more physical and a little quicker but not quite as tall and long? Should be interesting to see how that plays out. Or do you put Hendrix on Hemmerich and Runion on Scott and try and get Runion to be physical with him? Lot's of questions going into this one. One thing that I am interested to see is if Padgett can stay with C. McNeil. He is so quick and very strong both slashing and shooting the ball. That is the key match-up defensively for Conner, IMO

To me that is the answer right there. It is pretty much impossible not to slide under a player when they use the Euro-Step. When he has to move into the front of the player and does not re-establish it is a block, IMO

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but I am a big fan of Harlan County's new gymnasium. We were posted up there for a football playoff game in 2012 and it was beautiful with stadium seats all the way around. Very nice!

The part I don't like is the official already at that end who was technically behind Padgett but in front of the play blew the whistle but did not make the call. It was the official running the sideline on the scorer's table and was behind the play. I don't think he had a good look at it, especially with the play occurring a little bit toward the other side of the floor. It was one of those bang bang plays that unfortunately came at a CRUCIAL time.

That is the tricky part I think. Kyler did beat the Ryle player to the initial spot, but when O'Hara side stepped and Padgett had to slide to get in front of him by rule is a blocking foul and not a charge. That is the only reason I said swallow the whistle or call it a block. I don't necessarily think you "reward" anyone, just make the right call.

Coin flip game to me with Cooper being short handed. Game will be close because both teams play really good defense! Heart says Cooper by 4, head says...... ah who cares what the head says, GO JAGS!!!!

Like mentioned before, still without McNeil and Kunkel. There is no replacing those two but Cooper is still a strong team. Chris McNeil has really stepped up and has been shooting the ball great. Runion is a really good player and has just been over-shadowed a little bit by Kunkel and McNeil. Hendrix has done a better job of scoring and Rohlman has stepped up. They are getting better production from everyone in their absence and I think tomorrow will be a classic. I don't have any idea on strategy as I am not a basketball coach, but I think you put the defensive player of the year in Hendrix on Scott and that limits him, then you have to make Hemmerich work on both ends and wear him down. I know Conner will look to limit McNeil and Rohlman and force the others to beat them. Should be a great game against two rivals, I expect Hebron to be rocking Friday night at 6:30 and either way both of these teams are making it to the Region and Cooper is possibly getting their best player back next week so both of these teams should be alright. Looking forward to watching a good basketball game between two good teams. Cooper will have fresher legs because they had an easier night but Conner will be on an emotional high at home coming off a big win against a rival! Is it Friday yet? Would love to meet some of the BGP faithful that will be there, if anyone is interested send me a PM :jump:

Everyone has an opinion on the play but from someone that has no dog in the fight it was not a charge. The Ryle player gave the Euro step and Padgett slid to his right and fell back. Should have been a block or swallow the whistle. Either way, congrats to Conner and like someone mentioned, Friday should be a dandy

I will say that I have not been following that poster's comments and if he has been consistently bashing this Holmes team than I totally understand the post, but it seems like a little over-reaction on your part to go after this guy if it is based on this one post. I don't think what he said is bashing anyone, unless it is piled on to other posts in the past. I also don't think that post is out of line. It seemed like Holmes did not have a very good team this year and did not meet expectations. Again, if this has been going on for a bit, then by all means go to town ha ha. Just wanted to take up for the guy that I didn't think his post was all that bad. Either way, congratulations to CCH and best of luck to the graduating Holmes players. Younger guys need to remember the feeling and get back to the Holmes we all expect.

From all accounts of everyone that I spoke to Kunkel took a knee to the thigh in practice the day before and is day to day with a bruise! Should be back by Wednesday. Sean had the cast removed yesterday, and is set to get an X-Ray later this week. If the X-Ray is ok he should be good to go. Would expect him to miss districts but possibly be ready for Region if they are fortunate enough to make it that far!
