I truly believe that Dixie has a chance in this game. If they come out with the intensity and emotion and physicality that they played with against Cooper, they have a shot. They have to shorten the game and be effective running the ball and not make mistakes. Defensively they have to figure out some coverage difficulties they are having and limit #9 for Highlands. At the end of the day, I still think Highlands wins this game, but I am going to say it is somewhere around 35-24 or something like that. I think Dixie is effective in keeping the ball out of Highlands offense but it isn't enough to get the W.

That is classic right there! This has to be my favorite week of the year, along with Conner obviously. I love it when these two teams get together. They have been battles every since Travis Elliott graduated and Cooper started to establish itself. Both programs do a great job and it seems to be, year in and out, two of the better programs in NKY going at it. I don't know who will win, but at the end of the day I expect it to be a fun atmosphere, and two good football teams going at it until the final whistle. I hope both teams play a clean, crisp, injury free game! Good luck to the Raiders this Friday, and of course, Go Jags!

I mean, that is a better score, but is a 1 point margin really that much better of a score?

In my opinion, the key to this game is going to be two things things from the Cooper point of view. First, I think Cooper has to establish the run game. If Cooper can't move the chains some with Jackson then it puts a lot more pressure on their passing game and I think it will only benefit Cooper to try and shorten the game a little with the run and win the time of possession battle. Second, Cooper has to try and limit Ryle's big play ability and force the offense to put long drives together. Ryle has a VERY good offense and I am not sure that Cooper will be able to stop it defensively, but if they can limit Ryle some and force them to put drives together then there are better chances of forcing some turnovers. So basically I could have said all of this in one sentence. Cooper needs to win the turnover battle, and establish the run game to win the time of possession if they want to leave Ryle with a W. I also agree that you can throw records out the window in this game. Rivalry games always bring out the best in both teams, and expect this one to be a lot of the same. Definitely. Against SK it was more blown coverages and big plays. Tonight it was not very good effort all around from both sides of the ball.

Not a good showing tonight by Cooper at all!!! Played quite possibly a worse game than the one at Highlands. And as far as Conner goes, no one at Cooper cares about Conner one bit right now. They now focus on Ryle! Take the Conner talk to the Conner thread. Back to the game. Dixie did a good job of putting some drives together and keeping Cooper's O off the field. A few throws were off early for Lonaker which are usually completed and the team played ugly football. Did enough to get the win as no one could guard Hendrix, but there is a lot of work to be done this week to get ready for Ryle! Win and move on, get better this week Jags!!

I know a few schools that the kids do not wear full pads any days of the week. It is shells all week. Obviously, you are not full out tackling if you are in shells. These teams that I have seen that do that still thud and go full speed but they do not take each other to the ground. They wrap up and run their feet. Other teams I know of where full pads every day of the week except Thursday. I think this is a little excessive. But I do agree that not tackling in practice has shown a decline in tackling on Friday nights. But at the end of the day, if you get your players hurt in practice then you don't have them on Friday nights anyway so it is a catch 22.

Who does Boone play the rest of the way? I know they play SK, Campbell and Cooper, but who else am I missing? Is it safe to say that Campbell is their best chance at a win again this year?

Ha ha ha, in the words of the great Lee Corso: "Not so fast my friend." Conner hasn't had a ton of luck in the recent years against Cooper. Conner isn't even on Cooper's mind right now. It is all Dixie and then will be all Ryle at about 10:00 on Friday night.

I saw it. They couldn't stop Highlands. Up until about 4 minutes left it was a one score or 10 point game. That is struggling.

I am curious why people think this will be such a close game for Cooper? I think Cooper should win this handily!

SK struggled with Highlands so should they be like 8 or 9???

It was kind of spotty. They did a pretty decent job up front of making the LC QB scramble, and didn't do a terrible job on the run. Cooper played decent, but still made some mistakes and have some things to sure up. On to Dixie!

Final score closer than the game went. 17-7 Cooper at half quickly became 38-7 Jags when Cooper started rotating players in and LC picked up two scores. Two good teams and I think LC will be ok

Cooper won the game 31-6. Very slow start by the young jags but they turned it up after their first series of the second half. They picked off the Boone County QB and it seemed to open the flood gates for them.

Gotta go with SK in this one. While I do not think they are as good as they were last season, they are still 5 TD's better than Highlands, in my opinion. If Highlands can keep it close by eating the clock, not turning it over and maybe forcing a few they have a punchers chance. The one thing going in their favor is SK shouldn't wear them down as both teams are platooning! SK - 50 Highlands - 14

I agree. To be completely honest, I think if Cooper can limit the big plays defensively and force LC to put long drives together then they should win by 14ish. If they give up some big plays I could definitely see LexCath getting the win in this one! Should be a good game between two good teams and hopefully it will make prepare each team for districts.

Should be a good game, in my opinion. LexCath has a good amount of athletes, and I really like their running back if he plays this week (#4, I believe). I truly think that Cooper is the better team, but they have to play a WAY better game than they did last week against SK. I think the key to this game could be in the back 7 for both teams. Limiting the big plays and forcing each team to put long drives together.

Not being mean spirited, but what resume?

Serious question, and I am not trying to stir the pot. Is Coach W considered being on the hot seat if the team struggles this season? I know they made the state semis last year and won a state title in his first year. Let's say they don't get past CCH in the 3rd round would a switch at HC be a possibility? I hope not, as I think Coach W is the coach for the job and winning state, state semis, and regional finals in 3 years is something that ALMOST ALL schools would build a statue of a coach over that resume. But, this is Highlands, so I am just curious
