District Report from 2014, sorry for cutting off the side of it, all 5 schools got an equal share. [ATTACH]59335[/ATTACH]

It wont let me post the entire financial report that everyone can see from the 15th Region tournament & the 58th District Tournament that ire on the KHSAA website because its an adobe file, so here it is in pictures. The $3164.40 I posted was the share they received in 2014 from the District Tournament, an equal share that all 5 schools received. they received much less from the Regional share. I'm not trying to argue with you, I am just stating the financial facts that I can see from the KHSAA website. The schools up to 2014 didn't receive an equal share from what it is showing here. they do receive an equal share from the District tourney.

I knew I posted too fast. Doesn't look like the Regional Tourney is as much of a money maker for Piarist as first thought unless something has changed. This is from the latest financial report available on the KHSAA website from 2014. Piarist for the 58th District boys & girls basketball tournament took home $3164.40 combined share. They received $1,720.09 combined share of the tournament 15th Region Tourney. I'm just not sure the $$$ is worth it honestly, but I'm not there.

@15th Region So they get $$$ from all Regional tournaments even if they don't field a team for the specific sport such as Soccer or are we just talking about Basketball? I looked them up & they play Boys & Girls Basketball, Cheer & Volleyball $6000 a share is an insane amount of $$$ for a 1/16 share, so thats 2 shares of 32 of 192,000 dollars.... If so, I have been in the wrong region for all these years. :ohbrother: Just a factual note, the most recent KHSAA audit posted from 2014 on the website shows that the Girls Sweet 16 took in 297k, so if the boys & girls 15th Region tourney is taking in 192k they are killing it for sure. another side note from 2014 the football finals took in 253k that year. The KHSAA dues for a school such as Piarist is $800 a year.

If you are referring to district & regional tournament shares that dont really come from the KHSAA, but rather the host school for the tournament (KHSAA just receives a financial report from the tournament manager), that would be minimal monetary compensation honestly. Schools such as these would be getting more from a district profit share where everyone plays, than a Regional share, where if you dont play you will get a check for something like $20-30 bucks. I would honestly say the amount that these teams pay each year to the KHSAA for membership dues, probably exceeds the amount of $$$ they would receive from their District & Regional shares combined. Unless this is a small school thing that happens that I dont know about, there is no other types of "payouts" I was an AD for a 6A sized school here in KY for nearly 7 years & we never received any of these type of gifts. :no:

Piarist would be better off not playing in the KHSAA & join KCSAA or something of that nature. There is no way there is any enjoyment knowing you are going to get absolutely dismantled every single game.

I am a transplant from the mountains living down in Central Kentucky these days. I rarely make it back there, but the few bright spots I see are Belfry football & Dairy Cheer in Pikeville. Can't go wrong with either one. Hope to see Belfry bring another title back to the mountains.

NFL doesn't reverse the outcomes of games after the fact. NCAA doesn't either @ any level NAIA doesn't Ju-co schools......nope So why did they think they had a shot at all of getting a judge to reverse this single outcome. The above listed is prior precedent enough to see that it wasn't going to happen. It's an unfortunate case of events, but human error is part of the game. Until the officials are robots & where the ball gets marked on the field is controlled by GPS we will just have to go with it & learn to live another day. Very unfortunate to these kids & this team, but the world isn't perfect no matter what.

I have a problem with this post. You make it sound so one sided, I've witnessed firsthand the same classless actions from the Cards (and if you look hard enough, any team) as well. No matter how great a program is, no matter what pedestal a coach is put on, there are always going to be players that are outliers to the core beliefs of team & sportsmanship & do things that are not within the core beliefs of how we feel the game should be played & how they as players should carry themselves, both on & off the field.

Each school has a program that kids from all over the county can get into, but the requirements are so different @ each school that an outsider will say that it makes it easier to get into some schools (which is true) but, not all of the programs are equal in admissions. The Academy @ Henry Clay & the MSTC program you have to test into these programs & they probably house the top 1% of the academic minded students in the county. Lafayette's Engineering program is another nice program, but you do not have to test into it, but they look @ your grades coming into high school, you have to write an essay & receive recommendations to be admitted. The IT program & Bryan Station & the IB program @ Tates Creek are both nice programs, but you do not have to test to be admitted into those programs, you just have to want to be in that type of program. Not sure if you have to apply in any way.

The new school wont impact Lafayette that much. It is going to pull more students from Henry Clay & Bryan Station for the most part. The school will be playing a 6A schedule but will be greatly undersized for the first few years to even compete on that level IMO. I look for that school to have 1200 kids to start out with. Scott Co. has been one of the big reasons that Lexington schools don't get too far in the playoffs, McKee over his 20 years has built a machine that Lexington schools for the most part can't get past in the playoffs (last year being the exception)

I would put Bell Co & Breathitt Co both in the historical power category, the others not so much.

What team(s) in the area that you speak of (I-75 & US 23 corridor) is underachieving in your eyes?

This is one of my favorite posts since I have been a member of BGP. Personally, since I was a little kid I always liked reading & studying up about streaks & dynasties. I just think that it is fascinating that programs are able to maintain for as long as some of these have over the years.

Easier said than done, especially now. Just be honest on the transfer, if they played Varsity, just mark it. If they have their ducks in a row on the transfer to meet one of the exceptions, then its easy. If not, then that's on them.

This might be an apples to oranges comparison, but here it goes. Both of these schools are 6A & the only school in their county. GRC's enrollment is 1652 to Scott Co. 2467 a difference of 815 students total. Total male enrollment for Scott Co. is 1215 & for GRC is 833 for a difference is 382 for the current 2015-2016 data. I can't see back past 2002-2003 but The male enrollment was much closer back then GRC 704 to Scott Co. 882. What does this mean? Nothing really, but I just wanted to crunch some numbers & look at them to compare as numbers don't really mean everything to how good or bad a team is going to be. Looking @ GRC & Scott Co. from 1990 to the present its pretty interesting: 1990-1999 GRC overall 60-54 Scott Co overall 54-53 2000-2009 GRC overall 59-54 Scott Co. overall 85-36 2010-present GRC overall 16-50 Scott Co. overall 72-11 Jim McKee took over in 1997, went 7-4, 9-2, 4-6 & 5-6 in his first 4 years. Wonder what would have happened if the parents woulda came after him after back to back losing seasons there? Sounds like GRC needs to take a chance on letting someone install a system & build it up, they might be surprised in the results.

Probably the good ol parental meat grinder. You have a head coach, his paid staff, & a couple hundred volunteer coaches in the stands. Most places have overblown expectations on a quick turnaround that 99% of the time is not possible. Then when they don't turn it around fast enough, the support bottoms out & they pack up & leave for the process to start over again. Its hard for people to be patient, believe me, as an AD when I was doing it I wanted it to happen quickly too, for the kids sake, to build up school spirit & to keep my phone ringing from overzealous parents who complain about every single thing that doesn't go their way including the scoreboard on Friday night.
