Oh good gosh. Let it go. You do this every year when you see a lopsided score. I guess they should have just made sure they won 20-8 or better yet 10-8. Then folks would be all over Shelby Valley for not beating Piarist School like they should. District game. This game had to be played.

So what is a suitable score in a game like this that has to be played?

Just scoring 68 is suitable to me. I am sure it could been much much worse. I guess SV could have shot a few in their basket for them though.

Does anyone know the score at the end of each quarter?

Piarist would be better off not playing in the KHSAA & join KCSAA or something of that nature.

 

There is no way there is any enjoyment knowing you are going to get absolutely dismantled every single game.

If this game had to be played, then this is probably about as good as the score could have been without SV just stopping the game and not making any attempt to score. And who wants that? That's far more embarrassing than the score.

 

My little Fox Creek Christian independent church team played in Berea a few years ago in their Food Bank Classic scrimmage event (back before the KHSAA put the kibosh on that). One of the teams we played was The Piarist School, with one of the better teams they had fielded in recent memory. Without a couple of our better players, we beat them pretty easily. That's just the level of ability that very very small school competes with. When you get that much of a mismatch in talent, these are the types of scores you are going to see. Unfortunately you will probably see some worse than this before the season is over. I hate it for those Piarist kids (been on the receiving end of those types of scores more than once myself), but hey at least they are out there giving it their best.

Part of me says that there really wasn't any need to play at a pace to score 24 points in the second quarter when you were ahead 23-0 at the end of the first quarter. On the other hand, ten players played and scored for Shelby Valley. Particularly since it was the first game of the season, when you are still trying to mesh new players with old and don't want to develop bad habits, it doesn't seem that Shelby Valley was needlessly running up the score.

Me too. Even though the competition level would be much closer to their level of talent and would probably be better for the kids, joining the KCSAA or the KCAA comes with no financial benefit at all.
