@FreeBillyG & @PurplePride92 Mike Smith is a senior @ Pfeiffer University in North Carolina, its a D3 school & they are blowing people out of the water this year. Currently they are 22-3 averaging 108 ppg & have went over 120pts 6 times. The highlights I see, they sure are fun to watch.

I saw those teams, but they too played heavily in the 5th Region against the same teams that had the same records as the ones I mentioned earlier. I'm not trying to discount what they have done, getting to a record like that is tough to do, I will just have to see how it shakes out in the Sweet 16 I guess to see what they've got.

I know absolutely NOTHING about this team, but I am not impressed at all with their schedule. 11 wins vs. teams that have 10 wins or less, 5 of those with 5 wins or less. Kinda hard to gauge them as a top 10-15 team with that kind of a schedule no matter what their record is.

@The Professor you can disagree with me that's fine. There are plenty of large sized schools that have programs that just cant live up to expectations that are set upon them by people.

Beating Tates Creek the last couple of years is nothing for anyone to put a feather in their cap, although any of the small county schools can use it as motivation (me being from a small school county as well I understand how that works). 35-96 over the last 5 years as of today & 10-40 over the last two years to get an idea on where they are as a program right now. Hopefully they can make a turn & start moving back up the win column sometime soon. Never like to see a program stay down. I always like to see where someone thinks that 2000+ students is going to get you a top notch program in (____________) insert sport here, but thats just not the way it works. I've lived that life as well & it doesn't guarantee you a thing other than the parents of said kids thinking that they should win a championship due to numbers alone. Talent isn't always evenly disbursed in that population count & I'm telling you right now there are plenty of 1A/2A/3A sized schools that would decimate many 6A public schools in multiple sports. Been on the receiving end of those defeats as well. :(

I would say a little of both @3/2 zone but this falls more on Station. Station is having some real struggles over there. Sayre hasn't challenged the likes of Scott Co, Henry Clay, West Jessamine, etc...... Look for them to beat Tates Creek as well, but that is an entirely different story within itself.

It has baffled me for many years the fight we have had trying to get our admin & counselors to allow us to schedule a P.E. class that was geared towards athletes led by someone who was looking out for their best interests. The admin team @ my school was oblivious to the fact that it could help the athletic teams.

What a crushing loss this had to be for Station who have also lost 4 of their last 5 games. I was wondering if Sayre had ever beaten Bryan Station before this game since there wasn't much made about the defeat so I went back as far as I could. Sayre beat Station in 2010 as well 62-50. Congrats to the Spartans on the victory.

The larger school districts in this state have a much more difficult time keeping up with the Jones's than the single or 2 school counties. Many see these systems as having it all when in reality its much harder to provide for 4/5/10/20 instead of 1. You will find these systems have a lot of the same facilities that are patterned after all of the other facilities so that no one in the district will feel left out. Having been an AD in a multi school district, creative design was brought to a halt due to the BOE not wanting one school to be seen with an "advantage"

Yes, I have heard that around the water cooler this morning as well. Cant figure out what has happened, since he was Lexington Catholic through and through; former student-athlete there returning to take over the athletic program just a few short years ago after a stint @ LCA. Evidently happened sometime Wednesday evening/Thursday morning. Noticed this morning on their athletics page that his pic was missing, but it still had email address attached to it & just checked it a few minutes ago & he has been erased completely.

In no certain order: Bakersfield Tigers Taft Rockets Shermer High Bulldogs - known more for wrestling Our Lady of the Worthless Miracle Saving Graces Central Wildcats - only woman head football coach I know of. Hill Valley High Bulldogs - should be the Timetravelers Bayside High Tigers - should be an easy win Beacon High Beavers - should be Werewolfs Greendale High known more for skiing :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

You are correct @ftbll4life, I was not in Jefferson County. I wish that woulda happened I might still be doing AD work @ the high school level.

This kind of mass exodus of coaches is the same as I have seen of AD's (me included) Administration doesn't understand the accountability & liability that goes into these jobs. Teaching from 8-3, then AD from 3-whenever every single night while most admin are resting comfortably on the couch many of those nights. Countless times I would leave school after dismissal for 20-30 minutes to grab something to eat & come straight back to get everything set up for the nights game meanwhile admin would walk in just before the game & leave before it was over. Doing all of this while teaching a full load of classes make it a lose/lose situation. Hard to stay afloat in the classroom with all of the demands of curriculum & grading, department meetings, SLC meetings, etc..... (and the job that keeps a roof over your head & your family fed) to the AD/coaching job that at the end of it all might keep gas in your truck. I get it that it was what I chose to do, but the sad reality is that many admin are so blind to how much work goes into an athletic department that dedicated people just throw in the towel and give up.

Once he left Lexington I didn't keep up with him too much, so I'm not sure.

Mixed emotions with this one for sure, but that's all i will say about that. I will say that I would think that he tries to get some of his old assistants from Bryan Station to come along with him to GRC, but not sure how viable that will be to do since it is a much smaller school system that what Fayette County has to offer in teacher/para placements. Good luck to the program, I know that the community wants a competitive team back on the field.

Shoulda went with the original mascot from the previous Douglass High, the Demons.(although they spelled it Deamons, from the research I have done) Douglass Demons has a nice ring to it IMO. Use something similar to the Dayton Dragons "D" with a tail.

@mooremiller31 can you post a current all-time scoring leaders point list for Dunbar if you know it? Would be nice to track his progression on the list over the remainder of the season.
