12th region has two region sites in Lincoln and Pulaski. Pulaski has the best gym for hosting the 12th region tourney. Mercer has the 2nd best gym for hosting the 12th region.

He would be high on the list for a lot of people in Mercer County. He may want to continue to chase the college route though. He is a great young coach but a long road to go from Campbellsville Harrodsburg to a good college coaching job. Would have to be willing to move out of central KY and probably out of state to keep moving up the coaching ranks. He could come into Mercer with their roster and have success.

I laugh when EKU offers an 8th grader which they have done within the last year.

To me this was the championship. I think these were the two best teams in the tournament.

Byars led GRC with 22 points and Drakeford led Mercer with 20 points. Game was tied with 6 minutes left in the 4th qtr. GRC has a good team with both Byas sisters are tough to deal with. Should be a good game with them and N Laurel.

Great game and both teams left it all out there. I think Yeast and Mays are related and Tandy and Drakeford played on the same AAU team. Obviously you have Mays that played at Mercer her whole life and leaves in high school to go to Danville only to get beat out by Mercer the last two years. Lots of story lines within this matchup.

Mercer is 3A in football which is based on number of males in school. Are these figures just number of females in the high school?

Mercer beat Danville out in the semifinals of region last year and ends their season this year in the region championship. Mercer will play GRC Wednesday at 6:00 in Rupp.

I agree. Mercer seemed to have one guy guard Fraley the whole game or 90% of the game. I don't think you let one guy get 27 on the same defender the whole game without switching defenders or trying something different. I think Mercer only attempted to take one charge the whole game. I think if Mercer puts a small/quick defender on Fraley and pressure him out in the court then flop when he drove in strong like he did then he doesn't get 10 points as he would have been in foul trouble the way the game was called.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying although this is a 1 point game at halftime playing man all 1st half. Pulaski had a hard time staying in front of the Mercer guards also. When Pulaski/Fraley got in the paint Mercer tried to block his shot. He put his shoulder through the defenders chest as he should and did not allow that to happen. When Mercer beat the Pulaski defenders and got in the paint the help defenders flopped/got bailed out with charges. Give Pulaski credit for playing the way the game was being called and making adjustments. Facts not opinions are that Mercer had 4 made baskets wiped off the scoreboard by block/charge calls.

My suggestion to win regionthis year is do not play any defense. Let you man beat you off the dribble and out two defenders with their heels on the baseline. These refs love some flops. Ask boyle and Mccreary how many baskets taken away in the 1st qtr with shots made that were waived off for flops

Fraley and stripes take over in the 3rd qtr and game over.

I am not saying every school in the region can host. I am saying every district gets to choose one team within their district to host region and rotate yearly. Instead of only having two teams host region there would be 4 teams hosting. 45 District Host site Lincoln for Region Tournament 46th District Host site Mercer for Region Tournament 47th District Host site Pulaski for Region Tournament 48th District Host site SW Pulaski for Region Tournament. Mercer has the newest gym in the region and better setup with parking than Lincoln. I think it is broken when anybody from the 46th district or any of the teams within Boyle County play the late game semifinal game on a Monday night get home close to midnight, go to school the next day then travel an hour again that night for the championship. That is a huge advantage if being played 5 minutes from your house as opposed to somebody like West Jessamine traveling an hour and 15 minutes to Pulaski.

I really like the idea of rotating between each district within the region. This would keep Lincoln and Pulaski in the rotation but also throw in Mercer and SW Pulaski. It is a disadvantage for a team from the 46th District to Play the semifinal at Pulaski get home late then turn around the next day and drive an hour back to Pulaski. Any of the Pulaski schools don't have that hour or more drive that night after the semifinal or the hour drive back the next day. Mercer has the 2nd best setup in the region with newest gym, gym size and parking with Pulaski being number one from a gym/host standpoint.

In the class of 1998 just in the 11th region you had the following players. Jaron Brown Pittsburg Eric Brown Louisville David Graves Notre Dame Shawn Fields Georgia Rick Jones Vandy That is 5 power five players just from the 11th region in one class. I feel like in KY now we have a lot of Mid major D1 players but not as many power 5 guys like we had in the past. How many power 5 players do we have in KY highschool right now that are power 5?

Dontaie Allen won Mr. Basketball and only played 13 games his senior year because of injury. Don’t you have to win region player of the year to be eligible for Mr./Mrs. basketball? It seems region player of the year and Mr./Mrs basketball is chosen from career stats and not senior year alone.

2,000 points 1,000 rebounds before her senior year. Tore her ACL in scrimmage before senior started. No senior in 12th region has anywhere near her stats.

It seems like Marion was down last year. Casey had a great year but lost a lot of their main players. Mercer brings back a lot of their skill guys. Garrard seems to be bringing back some of their skill guys also.

Who wins this district?

Possible best big man in the region and he is a sophomore. They start another freshmen. They have one senior. They don’t have region favorite roster but far from bottom five in region where they are now. Down 3 to Pulaski this year under two minutes to play. Led LCA all but 2 minutes of rhe game. Took boyle and Danville to OT.

DCA? Right district probably wrong school. He was handed best team in the region his 1st year coaching in 2018. Has not won a region tourney game since 2018.

When will Mercer admins wake up?

Ashton Drakeford is a freshmen that starts for Mercer. JJ Goodman is another freshmen that gets varsity playing time for Mercer. Neither played in this tourney for Mercer.
