Tough to know how much this really means. How many of the best freshmen didn’t even play for their respective teams? Not saying that was the case this year but it usually is.

Wayne County starts 2 freshman and a 8th grader on varsity.

Boyle County plays 2 8th graders on varsity. So I agree, don't know how much this really means, but congratulations to Somerset. Coach Ryan Young has some talent coming up for sure.

Somerset starts one freshman on varsity and he didn't play.  The JV had to play with only 5 players tonight against McCreary Central due to the freshman tourney.  They managed to win and not have anyone foul out.

There aren’t many FR that play impact mins in the region @ the varsity level.  Good showing for the Jumpers!

Above it was mentioned that Wayne has two freshman and an 8th grader and that Boyle has two 8th graders. I think that Mercer has two that likely didn’t play. I thought Somerset had a couple that get meaningful varsity minutes as well but I don’t know if they played yesterday.

But, even with the above, that’s only 3 teams in the region that we’ve mentioned that had freshmen (& 8th graders) that weren’t playing. So it’s still a nice accomplishment. They seem to have some bright years ahead with some talent coming up and a really good young coach.

The FR and 8th graders that come to mind are Phillips (Wayne) Wayne’s PG (forgive me I forgot his name) Turner/Hager (Boyle) Fraley (Pulaski) Absher (Somerset) and Craig (Rockcastle).  Feel free to add any that you feel are impactful in Varsity play.  Somerset bench right now (due to injuries) is 2 FR and an 8th grader, so should bode well for future!

Ashton Drakeford is a freshmen that starts for Mercer.  JJ Goodman is another freshmen that gets varsity playing time for Mercer.  Neither played in this tourney for Mercer.

Thanks for adding.  I’m a little unfamiliar with the 46th district teams.
