  1. I've not seen them come out yet. Probably another couple weeks.
  2. Anyone know the South Oldham/Highlands result?
  3. Thanks for the morning chuckle. Nice publicity but shows the foolishness of the rankings. The Colonels lost a senior class that was second to none in school history so that is not easily replaced. Personally, I'd put CCH in the top 10 in Kentucky but probably at the end of the season. I think St. Henry may be in that group as well but we'll see.
  4. Two days until the first games. I'm guessing Highlands is the cream of the crop on the first night but that's just a guess. The CCH/Cooper matchup is correct I believe. CCH has it listed incorrectly on their schedule.
  5. Congrats. He was a fine player when I saw him vs CCH.
  6. I'm not sure there has been a formal announcement and there is technically a day left in tryouts tomorrow but players have been informed where they have been assigned. Normally they do last 2 weeks but the diocese extended the dead period by a week this year so I'm guessing that resulted in shorter tryouts. My guess is that by the end of the season CCH is starting 8 juniors/sophomores but still capable of winning the region. Midfield is the biggest question mark in my opinion.
  7. CCH will be pretty young. I see them starting 3 or maybe 4 seniors and the rest juniors and possibly one of the 2 sophomores that were kept on the varsity final roster. My guess is both sophs will see significant playing time. This year's squad reminds me of the 2014 team.
  8. Not sure about full top 10, but I think CCH and St. Henry are the top two with Ryle third.
  9. I don't recall that being the case. It was held at Ryle last year I think and I seem to remember them playing Scott on Friday night.
  10. Not sure which one is correct, but the actual CCH schedule has them playing Brossart at 8 pm in Soccerama and not Cooper.
  11. Speaking of recent times, I'd say the Sabato kid from Elder and Luke Treadway were the most dangerous/hard to stop players I've seen CCH go up against. Treadway's flopping really detracted from his ability so of the two, I'd go with Sabato.
  12. Interesting to see that CCH is not playing Brossart. Seems that has been the soccerama matchup for both teams for as long as I can remember.
  13. Another player who should score some goals for CCH will be senior Cole Stava and of the talented rising junior class, Jacob Blom will make some noise as well for CCH. Stava will be more of a target player for CovCath, which they haven't really utilized recently.
  14. Given the disparity in competition I'm not a big stat fan but clearly to me Adam Snow is the top returning offensive player. How much his supporting cast can help him out I don't know. If I'm an opposing coach, he gets a lot of attention. I think you'll see pretty balanced scoring from a fairly young CCH team but Lamb probably leads the pack for them. Scoring chances may be a bit harder to come by than they were on last year's squad. St. Henry returns a pretty experienced team and that should help Sanders put a lot of goals in the net. At the end of the year, the offensive player of the year may not be the stat leader in goals/assists, much like this past season.
  15. In general, high school soccer should strive to follow as closely as possible the rules used by US Youth Soccer for sake of consistency. I'm not sure why they need to use the scoreboard at all other than for posting the score.
  16. Since this only goes back to 2005, it's really hard to call it an all time ranking. I question the accuracy of the Maher rankings in a single season, much less all-time. Last year was a good example of that.
  17. Runners at first and third if I recall. Runner on first is picked off/caught in a rundown, I guess maybe a designed play to get the runner from third to score (which worked). Runner on third probably scores regardless of the collision at second base.
  18. Don't disagree that it was an error but a very hard hit ball. Lot's of miscues to go around but let's face it, he was being hit hard. Just no logic in starting him in my opinion.
  19. I'd agree that it was not interference. Bang-bang play with the runner in the basepath along with the second baseman.
  20. You are right on the money with this. No reason to start a JV pitcher in a game like this with the experienced arms they have. Young and Armstrong haven't seen the mound in awhile and Heppler pitched well the last time out too. Unearned runs yes, but some of those balls were scalded and quite a few of the miscues were on the pitcher/catcher combo. Completely uninspired team the last two weeks.
  21. Isn't he hitting about .400 for the year or do I have that wrong? With Doty having 12 K's it doesn't sound like he was alone. LOL
  22. I know CCH bunts and always has bunted but that seems pretty silly. If they can't bunt by this point in the season it's a little late to be practicing in the last inning of a game. I'm not trying to argue the bunt first philosophy that's been in place for 30+ years but I think you'd have a lot of people that would argue the point that it has served them well over the years.
  23. CCH down by 7, last inning, man on first with one out and one of their best hitters at the plate. And he bunts?
  24. Robert Young with the no hitter for CCH.
