Per the new USA Today Sports Super 25 Pre-Season Ranking, the Colonels come in at 11th nationally.

Nice pub for the KY high school, but that seems way too high for me given that they lost about 284 seniors, or thereabouts (actually 17 or 18 I think)...including Bryce Day, Jacob Litzler, super-defender Ben Darpel, and the genius in the pipes, Sam Romes.

Agree, this is great publicity for the Colonels and this ranking is probably more in line with where last years team might have been ranked at the end of the 2015 season. It seems they are using an approach similar to what the Maher Rankings use at the beginning of each season, heavily weighted on last years finish.

 

All this being said, I feel they will be the team to beat in the 9th this season....

Probably more bulletin board ammo for everyone else but the Colonels.

Thanks for the morning chuckle. Nice publicity but shows the foolishness of the rankings. The Colonels lost a senior class that was second to none in school history so that is not easily replaced. Personally, I'd put CCH in the top 10 in Kentucky but probably at the end of the season. I think St. Henry may be in that group as well but we'll see.

Did the soccer team get a uniform contract as well?

I've not seen them come out yet. Probably another couple weeks.

National rankings at the HS level, at least the HSs that basically only play in their own backyard, less then a 100 mile radius, is a complete farce. How in the world do you compare (rank) teams in KY to NY, CA, TX, etc, etc that NEVER play each other, that never play the same opponents?

 

With that said it's nice publicity and a testament to the strength of the program the staff has built the past few years. As for bulletin board stuff, from what I can gather CCH has a huge bulls eye on their back in almost every sport, this national ranking changes nothing, CCH is a huge game for every opponent, nationally ranked or not.
