Has to have been on an opposing team from "your team", and you have to have seen him in person while you were on the field, on the sideline, or in the stands.

For HS soccer it would have to be Sam Stockton (Trinity) to date. Lots of other great choices, including at least one still playing HS, but Sam immediately comes to mind. Great talent and he obviously thoroughly enjoyed playing and combining with teammates.

As a player I'd say David Simpson from Newport in the fall of 1980. Man vs boys(He was the man and I was the boy BTW).

If you're saying to yourself "I didn't know Simpson and Joker both played soccer" they didn't. I'm in the wrong thread.

Speaking of recent times, I'd say the Sabato kid from Elder and Luke Treadway were the most dangerous/hard to stop players I've seen CCH go up against. Treadway's flopping really detracted from his ability so of the two, I'd go with Sabato.

Showing my age but Jeff Hughes (Holmes) was easily one of the best I played against personally. That guy made me look really bad.

He said so many times, he and two or more of his team mates would have Barry cornered and Sanders would still squeak out for a ton of yardage.

I was able to see him play two years ago in a couple of National League matches, even at the age of 14, it was easy to see how talented he was. He has been a constant participant on the Youth National team for the past 3 seasons and is currently a member of the U17MNT.

 

In early June, he signed a contract with Atlanta United as their first Homegrown Player. Last night he was one of the 18 that were named to the Charleston Battery roster for their match against Orlando City B.

I too know what it is like to be a prodigy at a young age. My FIFA '16 guy is only 19 and is starting for a UEFA Champion's League Champion. It is a very heavy burden.

The short(er) guys seem to be faring OK in soccer. The average height of these players (excluding Mexitucky's guy and Barry Sanders) is 5'8". Average height of the FIFA World XI (best 11 players by position in the world) over the past 10 years has dropped from 6'0" to 5'10".
