  1. I still have hearts and a present...
  2. I don't think he meant much by the comment. But if I wanted to pick it apart my theory as to what he could have been implying is a bit different than most if anyone has touched on. If I wanted to read into it and try to pick it apart, my thoughts would be that he is saying that he doesn't recruit one and done's so why would they need to have stripper/prostitute parties to get the players they are landing. In theory your 2 and 3 star guys like he mentioned are not going to be looking for "gifts" to entice them to go to a high level program, as they likely don't have a ton of high level options. However with the elite of the elite, they can go practically wherever they want and some but not all of them may want their elbow's greased before they make a decision.
  3. The ribs I did were actually Kroger brand marinated in some kind of applewood sauce. I usually get my ribs from the meat market but the wife found these on sale for $3 a half rack at Kroger and they actually turned out great. When I use the indirect smoker I don't foil my ribs, but since I did these at higher heat on the kettle I foiled them for the first 2 1/2 hours, adding some apple juice after the first hour. Then pulled them out of the foil and added some fresh lump charcoal to add a little smoke and let them sit on the grate until they passed the bend test. I didn't time them from that point but I'd guess 30-45 minutes out of the foil. All in all they turned out great, they certainly were not tough, you may have just got a bad rack. They didn't have the flavor and bark that I get when I use the smoker, but I also shaved about 2 hours off my cook time. Next time I cook them on the kettle I may reverse the foiling process to add a little more smoke.
  4. Grilling ribs tonight, I'm on a roll to start the season. Usually I go with the low and slow method on the smoker but I don't have time tonight, so these are going on the Weber Kettle. It's been a while since I strayed away from the low and slow method, so wish me luck.
  5. While I agree with the bolded, lets not get carried away. While the talent level certainly isn't state championship level at the moment, there is no reason it shouldn't be regional championship level. The schools you mentioned are some of the largest in the region, which are also in the most urban area of the region. To think that they don't have the talent available that Elliot, Morgan, Rowan, etc do is stretching things a bit.
  6. I hope so too. I will say that the talent level is back on the rise (as well as more players are wanting to come out and play) a bit and I have complete confidence in coach Howell. To be honest, I'm surprised they were able to win as many games as they did this season. Missing the region was a bit upsetting, but outside of that coach Howell did a great job with the team for his first season.
  7. Just got home from work and found that the wife put some cut up chicken breast, onions, and peppers in foil in the fridge for me and there is a pack of tortillas on the stove. Looks like I'm grilling chicken fajitas and warming up some tortillas for dinner tonight.
  8. I'm not going to post much in this thread as I don't wanna start a riot or beat a dead horse. I will say I'm happy for coach Biggs and Mason County, I never disliked the guy as a person and he is a great in game coach, I also have a ton of respect for Mason County's program. But I also stand by my belief that it was time for him and Ashland to part ways. In the long run I think it will work out best for both programs as well as coach Biggs.
  9. I've always liked Jason, even more so after reading his letter. It's a bad situation for Russell but it shows good character from Jason to be honest about the situation and his decision to commit more time to his family. I know his record doesn't show it, but I really believe he could have gotten Russell back on track over time. I'm not sure where Russell goes from here?
  10. I spent a little time in Vicksburg for work years ago. Even with the casino's that place was terrible.
  11. You'll probably have a tough time beating ukfan.
  12. I'm with the guys that mentioned Embassy suites. I've stayed there before for UK games and it's a straight shot to the rear parking lot. It's not expensive but it's a great hotel. I'd be surprised if it's not booked up though.
  13. I'm into kayaking and have done some light whitewater but nothing like that. If you get on youtube and search "whitewater kayaking" you will find some insane videos. @OlDog75, no the paddles are not tethered to anything generally. You can buy a paddle leash but most of the whitewater guys don't use them. The spray skirt is what allows you to pop back up so quickly, it seals the cockpit so since there is an air pocket in the yak so it immediately wants to resurface.
  14. The nice weather recently has kept me busy on the grill. In the past 8 days I've grilled burgers, steaks, chicken breast to chop up and put in an alfredo and smoked 15 pounds of pork shoulder. It's been an early start to the grilling season for me. The wife loves it because I did the cooking most of last week hah.
  15. Lol, there was a hint of sarcasm in my post, even though it was a short hashtag post. I would have simply hit my like button but it's not working at the moment so I went with the hashtag joke.
  16. Personally I think it's a terrible decision and reflects badly on the school. The only reason I could think of to turn it down is to get a head start on finding a new coach.
  17. The SEC and Big10 championship games never do. They need to start finishing things up on Saturday and give the committee 24 hours to reflect on things. I'm not sure that would help either, but it's worth a shot.
  18. I'm not sure, it just felt right when I typed it lol. Correct answer as far as a simple yes or no would be yes, unless LSU happened to lose money by playing in the NIT.
  19. Technically, yes. However SEC schools split the football money too.
  20. Personally it makes me think he's gone. If he weren't why wouldn't LSU play in the NIT and earn some extra cash. By not playing because a player refuses to, it tells me that either the school has no idea what's best for the school, or they are about to fire Johnny and want to start the hiring process asap. I hope its because they want to open up the hiring process asap because if they let a player that hasn't even been going to class decide whether they play in a tournament or not, they have some serious issues.
  21. I get why he may have refused to play, he hasn't been going to class anyway from what I understand. But for the school to turn it down because a player refused to play in it is absurd. I hope its not true, but if it is, they have some serious issues to review.
  22. I thought they got a 3? EDIT: Nevermind, I see that they got a 4 as well.
