  1. If the 3 seed takes them farther away I would take the 4 and play closer to home. Personally I think the committee will place UK as close to Kentucky as they can even if it changes their seed. For one reason and one reason only, ticket sales.
  2. I think a win over A&M would get UK a 3 seed. A loss would probably put them at a 4 or 5 depending on how close the score is. Personally as long as they get a favorable venue I don't care where they are seeded. The tourney is wide open this year and as a UK fan I would rather play anyone close to home than I would have to travel far away and essentially play a neutral game. If the cats can play close to home, that gets rid of the neutral or road crowd as it will be a favorable crowd for UK. These cats seem to play pretty good ball when they have the fans behind them.
  3. That was an excellent game to watch, I love tourney games. UK took UGA's best shot and still pulled out the win. This UGA team is much better than their record shows, remember that when filling out your brackets. On a side note, I never knew we had an ignore feature here at BGP until reading the update thread. I wish I knew that a short time ago and I likely wouldn't have went to timeout. But now I know and will use that feature. Fortunately the site is full of great members so I will only need to ignore one.
  4. Given the lack of information pouring in, I assume there actually was no new big news??
  5. Sounds like a problem with your service provider. Do you have any problem accessing other sites? Have you tried resetting your home router?
  6. Barnhart should just fire him and end all the NBA talk. Then UK would likely be the only college that's ever fired a coach that went on to take a job with the NBA after being fired at the college level. But I don't even like basketball, so I probably am not the right guy to be commenting on it, right?
  7. Your completely right that it cannot survive by being fair. However that is reason number one why it should be optional.
  8. I agree to an extent. But the one issue I have with it is that some people take advantage of it, by starting several businesses, lining their pockets then filing bankruptcy on the unsuccessful businesses. I worked for someone that did that for a living it seemed, yet he was living confortably enough that he had a half million dollar house, box seats for the Redskins games, etc. Once my pay started coming late and short, I seen the writing on the wall and left. He still owes me about $4k in money I'm sure I will never see, his cell tower business is now bankrupt.
  9. He probably is set for life. But I doubt Cal would need to take a job in the NBA to get Brad a video equipment manager job. He could likely get him a job doing that right now, but again I doubt that's what he has in mind for Brad's future. Spolestra is a good story, but how often does that happen?
  10. I never said he would be an assistant in the NBA at whichever team Cal will be coaching? I said that if Cal failed he would be let go, due to the fact that the only reason he had the job in the first place was due to Cal. I'm sure he could be a scout, an assistant water boy, or even a video guy in the NBA to whatever team wanted Cal. But my point is, Cal seems to be smarter than that. Why would he pull his kid out of college and risk his future career, to become a scout or video guy? All the while knowing that if he himself fails in the NBA again, it would likely send his son back to square one and looking for a job, without any experience that would land him a decent job. I seriously doubt that Cal's aspirations for Brad is to become a scout for the Lakers, video equipment manager, or an assistant to somebody or something. I wouldn't exactly consider any of those jobs experience anything like he would get if he works his way up the ladder. Case in point, I sat next to a couple of Celtics scouts at MSG during Cal's first year at UK, they both knew all about John Wall (they weren't even there scouting him) but knew next to nothing about Bledsoe or Cousins. Just because you have a job in the NBA doesn't mean you know what your doing. Cal has experienced the NBA and knows it's a cut throat game, the only reason his endeavors there didn't ruin his own career is because he also had plenty of college experience to fall back on. Again, I can't see him throwing his son to the wolves like that before he even finishes college.
  11. With no experience at all? I get it, but I clearly don't see that happening. For one, I seriously doubt Cal would throw his son to the wolves like that. If Cal failed at said job, his son would be let go as well, which would potentially ruin his career. Cal is smarter than that and I believe he cares more about his family than that. To me what would make much more sense is his son sitting on the sidelines with him for the next four years, becoming a graduate assistant, then eventually moving on to an assistant coaching job. If you don't work your way up the ladder in coaching, the chances of success is much less than if you learn and grow from experience. Cal knows that and I doubt he would set his son up for potential failure in the NBA before he ever graduates college.
  12. That would go against the whole idea of running multiple businesses. Anyone that consolidates several businesses into one is an idiot, due to the fact that if the business goes bankrupt, they lose them all. It's a flaw in the system that lets a lot of people line their pockets, Trump has mentioned himself that it is a flaw. He simply took advantage of it, just like millions of others have, it's hard to fault him for that. I would have to search for the quote, but I believe when he was asked about it in one of the first debates he said that it was a flaw in bankruptcy policies and that it needs fixed.
  13. While it may not be a sign that Cal is staying put and I do completely understand your point, using the WKU coach and Cal as an analogy makes me chuckle a little. No disrespect to WKU at all, I really like that program and wish them well. But UK and WKU aren't in the same stratosphere in terms of a desirable coaching job. WKU, like a lot of smaller conference schools are considered stepping stones to get to more lucrative schools/conferences. While you could say the same could be said for coaches at top tier NCAA job's wanting a chance at the NBA, I'm not sure Cal would fit that bill in this instance. He's hung his hat in that ring before and failed, I honestly can't see him leaving his son at UK to take that chance again. Unless he's in some kind of financial trouble and needs more money to support his family, I don't see him going anywhere for the next 4 years. At that point, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he retires. Assuming again, that he is financially stable.
  14. The weekend deal would definitely help them catch more peoples attention due to not being able to call the clerk or S.O. to see if they did in fact have a warrant. Another rule of thumb with that though is that it's not likely, if ever, that you will have an officer come to your home to serve a misdemeanor warrant. Those guys have too many other things to deal with on a daily basis to show up at someones house at a specific time to serve a jury duty warrant. A felony warrant would be a different story, but with things like missing jury duty, small fines etc they generally wait until your name is ran from getting pulled over etc. The only reason I mention that is to educate anyone else that may get a phone call similar to yours. If it comes on a weekend and you can't call the clerk, I'd just take my chances and wait until Monday to speak to someone I know is legit, or call an attorney to check on it for me. I seriously doubt the police are coming to anyone's house to arrest them for missing jury duty.
  15. I agree. I've seen parity before, but this isn't parity. This is just a down year for college hoops. Even in years when there is a bit of parity, there is always someone or someones that stand out as favorites to win it all. This year I'm not sure there is a team out there that isn't capable of losing game #1 in the tourney. If there was ever a year when a #16 seed could beat a #1 seed, this is it. Some would call that parity, but to me it's just bad basketball.
  16. It seems that they can build a pretty big lead. I didn't watch the game so I don't know what led up to it. But 22 points is a pretty big lead/win against a good team.
  17. I'm glad you didn't lose any money and yes, this was certainly a scam. At least you figured it out before you became a victim. I don't know of any counties that do things this way, but if ever in doubt about something similar just call your county clerk and ask them if you have a warrant. Again though I'm glad you didn't lose any money and thank's for providing a heads up to others.
  18. Probably not in my lifetime. Call it parity or whatever, but it's certainly a down year for college basketball. It should make for a fun tournament though.
  19. You can't be athletic if your only 6'0 tall? Again, Tyler Ullis.
  20. No doubt. Otherwise why would a UK player be given a T for a less aggressive action.. :idunno:
  21. If there was a tiny bit of consistency in officiating it would have been, no question.
  22. Your right about the media, nothing to say to help themselves. The ref's on the other hand.....
