Trinity - Virginia While Virginia is not a private school, most would consider it a "silver-spoon" school. Lost to early to the big dog in their conference Duke before coming back to beat them when it counted in the ACC tourney (Trinity finally bringing down Ballard). Virginia allows the least PPG in the NCAA tourney while Trinity allows the fewest average points per game in Ky. Both are very balanced in scoring and both play most games in the 50-60 range. Bennett and Szabo both share the affinity for defense first.

If Trinity plays Ballard straight up man to man I think you will see the same against Owensboro

I hate to get off topic on your thread so this will be the last I have to comment on this one. I agree with your points in a "general" sense but if you take the games as they are bracketed out this is how the crowd will come down, IMO. Game 1 for Trinity. The majority of the crowd will be for the underdog in the Red Devils and that will have nothing to do with Trinity being private or from Louisville; however, with South Oldham playing the first game and being on the same end of the arena as Trinity it might seem equal as the South Oldham fans will cheer for the Louisville private. If Trinity wins and plays Hopkinsville the "neutral" fan will be for Trinity (and we dont wanna go into the reasons why). If they win again and play Scott County, again the neutral (although small in number as Scott will fill the gym) will pull for Trinity. If the final happens the neutral will cheer for anyone out of the bottom bracket aside from PRP. have a good weekend.

Respectfully, I totally disagree with you and we have two years ago as proof as the crowd (non-Scott County) was obviously cheering for Trinity when they met in the semifinals I think. I believe you are missing the boat and trying to compare apples to oranges. Football is much different than basketball and I will give you that Trinity football is the evil empire and pretty much everyone would want someone else to win just like this year went Scott County won. But for similar reasons in peoples mind they cheer against Scott County as we have been over and over again in "recruiting" threads on here many times. Trinity (as would probably St. X and DeSales) while from Louisville and private catholic schools do not get the ire up like a Louisville public school at the sweet 16. The private school thing is not the issue for sweet 16 fans because it rarely happens.

Not sure why you needed to "jokingly" paint Trinity as the evil team this year when in fact the two teams that will be most cheered AGAINST will be Scott County and PRP.

They did play this year in the KOB in Louisville and PRP won by 12 but the game was closer than the final margin. Call it sour grapes or not but the JC fans felt like PRP got away with alot of fouls not called. I would agree that PRP does play very "handsy"

Statistically speaking they ended up the season behind Bishop Brossard and Ky School for the Deaf in average points allowed per game but if you factor in the SOS of Trinity I think one can easily make the case that they are hands down the best defensive team in the state.

I do see this as one of the better first round matchups; however, I am surprised at the poll results so far. I would rate this as a tossup. Maybe its the general lack of respect the 15th region gets (some of it deserved) but this JC team is a seasoned team that I dont think will have any jitters since they "have been here before" whereas the Camels might take a few minutes to get their feet under them. I will take JC 68-65

If you go to the Sweet 16 I am sure you will see a monster putback jam, he seems to be good for at least one of those a game.

Agreed that Hall has an advantage over Shellman but its not a canyon. On the other hand I would take Kidwell/Ramser over Stafford/Levitch every day and twice on Sunday.

Using the Cantrell Rating the biggest mismatch would be Scott County vs Fleming County. Fleming County is a good team with Burns back, Scott County better not sleep on Fleming County.

The all tourney teams are so fickle. The top four players made early exits and their games IMO were not so "standoutish" to deserve it. I would take two of those out and replace them with Perry (Ballard) and Ramser (Trinity)
