I guess its something that coaches do but Spalding not on the all tourney team is not fair to him.

It was a great game between two really good teams. Trent Gilbert was amazing and will obviously go down in the Sweet 16 lore when you talk about it to your grandkids. I was surprised that Trinity did not eventually put their defensive stopper, Ramser, on Gilbert. It appeared that Trinity said Ware is not going to beat us again (after dropping I think 27 on them the first game) and put Ramser on Ware in which he held him to 4 pts. I would have thought that after a while they would put Ramser on Gilbert. As mentioned numerous times on Trinity threads, many people said their free throw shooting would get them some day and last night was that day. Stafford was 1-6. As others have said I did see some improvement in Long from the first game of the year that I saw him against Ballard. Maybe not a ton but there was some and I did think he had an impact on the game.

Well that is really interesting. I agree with the previous poster in that their student section was embarrassing.

And of course you are WRONG. This thread is about the state tournament and the two teams that Trinity beat in the first two rounds.....Owensboro and Hopkinsville...... I understand that the Trinity and Ballard fanbases are rivals but do not interject me in the middle of that. I am not from the "golden triangle".

Why would they not cancel those events?

The Purples have been flying under the radar all season long, but they are a very good ballclub. I think CovCath has played two sorta average games for them, not great and not bad. If CovCath plays better I think they win this one but if they play like they have the last two nights they are gonna be in trouble. I think CovCath plays better and edges BG.

Are people forgetting that Scott County is 31-2. Their only losses to Ballard and Lafayette, and they have already beaten Trinity before? I can actually see any of the four winning. Good Luck to them all.

I think the Seaton Center on UK's campus is open till midnight on Fridays if you prefer to watch undisiciplined, poor coached kids play.

Thats fair, I think its a matter of basketball "taste". I prefer to watch a hard-nosed disciplined team execute both offensively and defensively. Sound like you prefer a little more up-n-down, one on one, and dunk game. Neither is wrong. It just baffles me to read the posts on here from what I would consider "basketball" people to say that Trinity is boring, not impressive while they just execute and continue to win ballgames. Maybe a very remote analogy is the Heat/Spurs debate. One team is made up of athletes and highlight tapes and the other just executes their gameplan. Ballard/Hoptown being the Heat and Trinity being the Spurs?

Looking forward to today's games as yesterday was fun. I think this thread is getting beat to death now. The facts are that in yesterdays afternoon session both Hoptown and Trinity were EASILY the much better teams.

Better athletes does not mean better basketball players.

The game is only boring if you are losing. Actually the game had more up tempo than usual for Trinity. They scored 55 while they shot the 3 ball poorly, played subs for the last three minutes and missed 11 free throws. Easily could have been a blowout. Quote of the day before the game by Owensboro coach, "Holman has the same skill set as the guy he is guarding today".
