  1. What is classless about missing a coach??? You ripping on someone who has an illness sounds classless to me.
  2. It is not rocket science either: Develop kids at whatever age they want to start playing football; make sure they are all playing and having fun; start teaching the basics of the system in the Jr high levels; have an excellent off-season weightlifting, agility, and fine-tuning the system program; implement a system that the community will support, enjoy and that the athletes fit into, and THEN HAVE AT IT!
  3. Ryle's offense better mix it up and keep Trinity's defense guessing or this one will be UGLY; they cannot count on being one dimensional and having any chance at all!
  4. A dynamic head coach can do amazing things; just to name a few: Kerry Combs- Colerain put them on the map to stay Chuck Smith- Boyle Co.- also put them on the map, dropped off after his departure, now again a force Dale Mueller- Highlands- has taken them to new heights
  5. especially getting more kids involved having "fun" playing football, learning the fundamentals, and seeing what a blast it is to play for the high school
  6. Public schools in OH do just fine against the private schools; they don't make excuses, work hard, make football a priority, and have good feeder systems. Huber Heights Wayne beat Cincy X tonight; why can't KY publics do this?????????????
  7. Rarely if ever do you see a kid in Division I football give their coach attitude, the referees or opponents- yes, but not their coach.
  8. Having to beat good teams that win is certainly better than NOT HAVING TO BEAT ANYONE to make the playoffs.....which happens in KY much more frequently than good teams getting left out in OH!
  9. They don't have to beat bigger schools; they can schedule and beat schools their size that win a lot, thereby earning as many points as possible. I don't know the specifics, but the school that earned more points than them either beat bigger schools or better schools in their division; Waterford was competing with schools in their own division; the other school that outpointed them figured out a way.
  10. Expanding divisions- maybe, but they won't want to water their championships dow Splitting private vs. publie- their public schools do very well against the private schools, so there is no need for that Wildcat pool- how would you determine who makes the playoffs out of that pool
  11. How is his attitude? If it is bad like some claim, no coach in college will tolerate that.
  12. If the other team beat more bigger, better schools, why shouldn't they make the playoffs over the school that didn't???? The record is a moot point; if a team wants to make the playoffs, schedule bigger, better teams to play against- it really is quite simple!
  13. In OH very few, if any, "real" contenders get left out since they have 8 teams out of every region make the playoffs; when it was 4, 2, and 1 (imagine that) some did. How SHOULD OH do it then with 700+ schools playing football???????????????????????????
  14. Please read my earlier post #30; IT IS NOT A COMPUTER RANKING SYSTEM!!!!! Teams ABSOLUTELY have control of their own destiny- their schedule! They don't have to play the same teams every year; they need to actively search for good teams to play!
  15. I don't remember that game either; who was on that Ryle team??
  16. They can't possibly; they have over 700 schools playing football; KY only has 200+; OH would be playing football until February.
  17. The last 4 CCH teams have had no where near the talent of the '06 team. Plus, the schedule is silly; playing Mooney, Elder, Lasalle, and Louis. X, who all crushed CCH the last 4 searsons, are not what CCH needs right now.
  18. Of course this year's team deserves credit for hanging in and making it a game, but if you really think you are 1 TD away from being on par with the Highlands program, good luck. I also agree attitude is very important in dealing with a problem such as this, but it doesn't negate the fact that lies, manipulations, and distortions were a GINORMOUS problem!
  19. Of course, it happens at every school with every coach; it is the EXTENT to which it happens that matters.
  20. For all of you who misunderstand, THE COMPUTER HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH A TEAM IN OH MAKING THE PLAYOFFS!!!!!!! It only calculates the points, like a calculator. Teams EARN points in 2 ways: 1) Winning games- the larger the school, the more points are earned 2) The teams that you have defeated winning games- the larger the school, the more points earned The OH system is perfect, schools have to schedule good teams and win games to make the playoffs; if a team has a good record but doesn't get in, they should have scheduled tougher opponents!!!!! The only drawback is if a League mandates playing all the schools in the league, then the teams in that league are hampered by not having as much scheduling flexibility.
  21. SK was closer last year in playing toe to toe with X, who went on to win the state championship; competing with and sometimes beating X & T should be the ultimate goal for these two programs; Ryle's encounters with the big 2 have been much more lopsided; consistency is the key for both; Dixie has actually done more than both in beating T once and playing them tough in other years.
  22. If you are hanging your hat on one game against a team that is clearly not as talented as it has been the last 3 years, that was 20-0 after one quarter and was one play away from being another blowout, then you go and enjoy it!!!! When the atmosphere in and around a program is cancerous because of parents and alumni, you shouldn't be surprised how that affects the psyche of teenage boys. A lot of factors were involved and you underestimate the power of positive reinforcement vs. negative reinforcement.
  23. Until these teams start challenging X and T perennially, they are unsuccessful; neither team has closed the gap, but they have so much potential that is unrealized!!
