Problem is they play 2 halves. I think Rose Hill should have won by a bunch if they had played better in the first half. Let me ask this question if Elliott is the most talented team in the region and they lose in the district or regional tournament then they will still be the most talented team, correct? I mean talent doesn't change in 1 month. So even if someone else wins the region are you guys still going to rank them #1? The one thing that is certain is that Elliott and Rose Hill have played in one tournament together and they have went head to head once and Rose Hill came out on top. Rank them however you wish I'm packing my bags for Richmond.:ylsuper:

Add Tony Arthur and Scott Gambill to that list. Plus Alex Malloy came from Holy Family after his 6th grade year and FWIW Holy Family is a private school that doesn't have a high school. Nate Quackenbush came to Rose Hill as a freshman and was home schooled up to that point. Bigcat08's comments are just way off base.

Rose Hill 3-0 Ashland 3-2 Boyd 1-3 Fairview 1-3 Right now it would be Rose Hill vs. Boyd, Ashland vs. Fairview. As mentioned before Rose Hill is in the driver's seat with 2 of the 3 remaining at home. When you look at the teams I don't know how much the seeding really matters this year. Should be a very highly contested tournament.

I agree with you 100 percent that it is the way they have to play. That is my point due to a lack of a post man and their struggles to rebound they have to shoot well or it will be very difficult for them to beat a good team. If their on watch out.

I have to admit that I don't understand how losing someone who was in the rotation helps especially when he did rebound.

I think that Bath at home is a tough matchup. Trying to be as objective as possible I think Rose Hill will win but not by more than a handful.

Well I wouldn't be suprised at all at his record prior to OJ. At one time pre OJ Rose Hill had the longest losing streak in the state. After OJ Rose Hill had 3 pretty lean years and the past two they have been improved but starting junior high kids. Last season they flat out whipped us and I tip my hat to their team and staff. Post OJ Rose Hill, for whatever reason, found it very tough to get Raceland on the schedule. It seemed that the previous coach didn't approve of the transfers to Rose Hill but sure didn't care to accept a hand full of transfers from Rose Hill. I guess it just depended on who's bread was getting buttered. Let me add that the new coach has been a breath of fresh air.

For a team that struggles rebounding the ball this is a tough break. I hope for the kid everything turns out well.

Elliott is very entertaining and very talented. I personally like their kids a great deal and have nothing but respect for the boys I know personally. If that is their style of play then that's fine but you have to understand that it will be very difficult to beat quality opponents night after night if you have no post presence and can't rebound. I love the way they play but sooner or later the deep shots don't fall.

I like it better when you pick against Rose Hill. I was great motivation in the Ashland game.

I that the same retired coach who ran from the Royals like a scalded dog during the regular seasoon or a different one? Plus I remember he also took a couple of Royal butt kickings. Of course he was very sucessful in plucking a few players from the Royals a few years ago.

The object of the game is putting the ball through the hoop. If you shoot a ton of 3's then you will have bad nights shooting.

I think fans outside of Rose Hill are happy because it gives them hope. If you learn from losses they can be beneficial but Elliott may have lost their "intemidation factor". I think it can help them but I think they have a major issue that needs to be addressed and if it's not it could ultimately be their downfall. As a Rose Hill fan I will take the win. If, and that is still a big if, Rose Hill makes it to Richmond it will be a great accomplishment. I personally think the class A tournament is as tough as the regular region this season.

I think most, almost every one of the Elliott boys play hard, not all. I wondered the same thing about posting up one of the twins. To me that is a head scratcher. Part of the shooting problem might be that Bath has the darkest gym I have ever been in. I think they should replace those 40 watt bulbs with 100 watters.

Rose Hill has been playing pretty well lately and the supporting cast is gaining confidence. I honesty thought they could win but didn't expect it. Elliott can benefit from this loss but they have to get everyone on the same page.

Maybe just maybe Rose Hill induced their labor. I think this is a loss that probably benefits Elliott down the road.

Well I'm afraid to say but right now it kinda looks like it. I just hope they turn the corner one more time on Friday.

I think this game came down to four things: 1. Tony Arthur's defense and ball handling. He made Ferguson work and took some of the pressure off Jackson. I thought he made the biggest play of the night when he dribble through Elliott's press and found Barber for a big basket right after Elliott took the lead in the 4th. 2. Rebounding. Rose Hill dominated another team on the backboard. I can't remember hardly any second chance points for Elliott. 3. Elliott played most of the game 4 on 5. If anyone was at the game they no what I mean. I believe this a problem that if it is not solved could be their ultimate demise. 4. Tim Fraley's decision to play man to man for a large percentage of the game. I know I wouldn't have done it and I would have been wrong. For some reason Elliott never tried to exploit Rose Hill in the post with one of the Faulkner boys. Go figure. Rose Hill's supporting cast is improving. Big baskets from Barber, Bush, Malloy, and Davis. Maybe it is no accident that Rose Hill's opponents keep shooting low percentages.

Ashland coach Paul Patterson never lost to a 16th region team in his 4 years at Ashland. Think about that for a miniute.

You guys have no idea how special a kid must be to overcome this kind of adversity. My admiration level for Matt Thomas just went through the roof.

I agree plus I will add that he appears to be a pretty good uncle. Can you give us your assessment of his abilities as an umpire?

I heard very little of the game but the Fairview crew mentioned that Coleman had a big 4th quarter. The district tournament should be fun. Any of these teams could beat the others.

Not to overstate the obvious but that is a great game for Matt. Big district win that really puts Fairview behind the 8 ball in the district standings. How can anyone seriously think that any team could look past a district opponent when the district seeds?
