Undefeated in the 16th?

Featured Replies

Just wondering.. has anyone ever gone undefeated in the 16th region?

Yes. Ashland did it four years in a row back in the mid '70's.

Am I wrong thinking that Boyd did it once?

I think Morgan ALMOST did it a few years ago.

Ashland coach Paul Patterson never lost to a 16th region team in his 4 years at Ashland. Think about that for a miniute.

Russell last season had it going to the Regional Semi's before Elliott Co. knocked them off enroute to the Sweet Sixteen elite 8. Russell was minus D1 guard Jonathan VanHoose with a torn ACL in districts.

I am pretty sure that Boyd did it a couple of years as well.

I know in the 80's they beat Ashland like 4 yrs in a row, so I would say they also went undefeated in the Region if they beat Ashland, in at least 2 of those years.

Boyd may have went undefeated in the mid 90s, but I am not sure.

Morgan lost one or two a few years ago though. I can't really remember anyone in the last 20 years going undefeated in the 16th.

That is correct. From the 75/76 season thru the the 78/79 one .

Didn't the 1992 Ashland Tomcats go undefeated in 16th region play that season? Someone look it up....I think they did.
