Adair County 2016
I am curious, what exactly makes for a "qualified" candidate? Is it simply time served as an asst coach? If that is the case then there are countless candidates that are "qualified". With the exception of Gay, I do not see that Adair has always sought out the most "qualified" applicant, and in this particular case, I do not know that there are many teaching options available to entice a current coach to make a move to Columbia. I am sure there are one or two guys on staff that would do well. As said before, continuity has to be the focus and that is an uphill battle with the group in Adair

Adair County 2016
I will also second Harry's motion that "speed kills". If you watched either the Elizabethtown or Caldwell County game, you can see that the difference between the two teams was not strength. I do not remember seeing Cecil or Cain run over many Indians, if any. Also, if I do recall correctly when Caldwell did try to run downhill and not to the edge it did not exactly work out well. Those are speed teams with lightning fast backs and receivers and that's what won. That is also what looks to win for Adair in 16. Speed

Adair County 2016
Well, this escalated to a very personal level pretty quickly. Maybe calling out a 16-17 year old boy is not the right way to prove your point. Especially since, during the season in which you are questioning Adair's dedication to weight lifting, the was no existing weight lifting class. Also, to say your "point was showed", I will agree to use your grammar, is comical because when "the chips were down" Adair left with a W and the hornets left with the L. Judging by your name of "optionfootball" I assume your a life long Columbian or maybe a dedicated transplant to the community, thus I derive that you are also a UK fan. Relate that Metcalfe game to how every single basketball team on earth plays against UK. Metcalfe had a chance to beat what is probably one of the top two or three teams in Adair history. They played with an intensity that is difficult to match. Metcalfe always brings really impressive physicality, you are absolutely right, but I wouldn't quite say that based on that game, Adair has shown a lack of dedication to weights and training.

Adair County 2016
The first, which is a total must, is that the new hire keep the offense simply the same. With the exception of Elizabethtown, Adair scored well against everyone on their schedule, including second round loss to Caldwell Co. The Indians did show, in the Etown game, to be a bit outmatched and maybe lacking an ability to perform against high quality athletes, though they have several of their own. I would say the second main area of improvement has to be just that, competing with trophies on the line and against a high quality opponent. Whether it is for a district title against Etown or Regional contest with Caldwell or PT. Also, replacing two hundred plus tackles lost to graduation will be an interesting test.

Adair County 75 Taylor County 62
It will not surprise me to see Taylor drop a handful this year and not even make it to Rupp. They dug an 8 pt hole early because of undisciplined players and then were out-hustled, without a doubt, the rest of the way. Ask Coach Cal about being on "the top". You're going to get everyone's best shot and absolute best effort and if you don't bring it, effort will post a "w" pretty often.

2015 District Coaches and Players of the Year
I guess it is hard to argue with an undefeated record and playing for a regional crown but I am not convinced of how much coaching has actually impacted etown's season. I think perhaps a lack of coaching among their opponents, combined with amazing talent and a great 2-way, field coach in Jack Wilson has delivered this great run! IMO, some of the best coaches are the ones that do things that they should not be able to do with the pieces that they have. But again, it is difficult to argue when they're sitting on top of the region and almost state and picking up steam

3A Third Round: Caldwell County/Elizabethtown predictions
and the only thing that Caldwell has on etown's qb is a very accurate deep ball. Otherwise etown qb is twice the athlete as the sophomore at Caldwell

3A Third Round: Caldwell County/Elizabethtown predictions
Etown will run away this game. Caldwell is a good team with good players but etown is on a different level at almost every position excluding qb, yes including dee cain. Etown 42-17

Where is Cain heading? Wku?

This one surprises me as well. Rebels played with purpose it would seem! Good to see drive like that late in the year

Best Class 3A First Round Game
And since you know that I'm sure you're well in touch with how many of the coaches and scheudling ad's honor "gentleman's agreements" just as much as they respect a contract. I don't want to lose sight of my original point. Which is, adair and schools like adair are playing who they are supposed to be playing. There is not any reason to suggest that they are playing a padded schedule other than two good seasons of a little over 40 years.

Best Class 3A First Round Game
Adair did have a nice year last year. Are you suggesting they should have made scheduling changes in the off season? Most contracts are home and away contracts- meaning two year deals. No changes could be made especially since they added LaRue to the district. The schedule was locked in. And I don't think any football coach is happy or willing to schedule a "tougher" schedule based on a hunch of what is coming up in the next classes. That's dangerous waters banking your coaching welfare on a hunch. But hey, that's coachinb isn't it?

Hart County/Caldwell County predictions
I think this game may get called in the 3rd for one reason or another. Hart is limping into a game that they need to be 100% for

Best Class 3A First Round Game
Adair County 2011 Kentucky High School Football Adair County 2010 Kentucky High School Football Here is a link to adair's schedule and results his first year at adair (2011) and the year previous to his arrival (2010). This conversation about "scheduling" is more annoying than any part of high school football forums. With the possible exception of dads with all star sons. This is not college football, where scheduling is strategic, this isnt private school football, where money is not an issue and there is a necessity to play hoover and kings. This is small county football in southern kentucky. Smart and experienced football folks will understand that you can not schedule like the masses on this forum suggest because of the ups and downs of county football. It would be a death sentence for a coach to try and predict the up years and try and schedule different opponents.

PurpleHaze Western Kentucky GOW: Elizabethtown (7-0) at Adair County (7-0)
I know this sounds totally outside my mind, but it holds true, check film if you want to see it with your own eyes, I would not blame. The only team Etown has faced that has the specialty speed that adair does is north hardin. From watching the etown vs Hardin game I really really think that NH had a chance to end the panther's unbeaten run that night and let it go. I agree that Adair will have to play the game of their lives to win, but these two teams are not so lopsided, time will tell, about ten hours time actually. Etown may have a slight edge in some "intangible" category, but they will have to have a game themselves. This is going to be a great late season matchup for a trophy.

Bethlehem (5-2) @ Campbellsville (6-1)
I still think Campbellsville has enough talent left after a couple of key injuries to take this trophy. 27-14

Bluegrasspreps' Class 3A Rankings (10/5)
Do you think it would have to be a "convincing" win to move up? Say something like 35-28...what does a tight game but a win do for adair in the eyes of the state?

I'll call your single wide and raise you an '08 civic. Adair is a lot of things, slow, not one of them. Want to find out? hop on hudl or YouTube. #lanxster

Elizabethtown: Contender or Pretender?
I think etown could be real, and while they're schedule is considered "weak" by almost all, I have confidence that they will perform down the stretch. Adair v Etown in a couple of weeks will be a telling game for this district and this region. I may be late to the party, but was Cecil out last week? or QB? or did Edmonson play their best game?
-
Adair County (6-0) vs Edmonson County (4-2) Predictions
with teams like Adair, Hart, Metcalfe and Edmonson depth plays a huge factor. Injuries can turn a year. Adair looks to be down one or two of their pre season and week 0 starters,( its hard to tell sometimes who they start with all of the subs), is Edmonson healthy? or relatively healthy? how is there depth? I honestly do not expect this to be a game, and on paper I do not know that it should be. Having said this, Edmonson plays hard, and mad at the world, and that gets results sometimes.

Bluegrasspreps' Class 3A Rankings 9-28-15
I absolutely agree with you. My rant was more specifically geared at the teams/talent this year. I one hundred percent agree that a lot of great coaching goes in to small county schools such as hart, Monroe, adair, metcalfe and these teams routinely win games on the wings of harder working kids and great coaches. This particular situation just does not seem to be one of these games to me

Bluegrasspreps' Class 3A Rankings 9-28-15
I am honestly so truly excited for Etown's game this week for one reason. It is not because Etown will be tested, because they won't. It is not because Hart will make them uncomfortable, because they won't. Etown will run away with this game from the opening kick off, and yes, even with a 100% healthy Hart Co, it would never be a game. I am starting to lose faith in the football world simply because of the inability to look at these two teams and not see the overwhelming inequality in the places of talent, coaching and performance so far this season. I am excited that the Hart talk will end this week, not because I have anything against Hart, because I don't. I just want a realistic look at this region in 3a for once.

Glasgow at Green County
Being a "1 dimensional team" is not a downfall. Being a "1 dimensional team" and being bad at that "1 dimension" is where the problem rests. I will say that Glasgow will take this, but not from coaching or effort, they will out talent Green, and there is nothing you can do to change that.
