My biggest problem is catering to outside fans. It's great if you come, but ultimately high school sports are about teams and the communities that support them. I see no problem with what we have. Any team complaining about travel for a semi-final game should come and see how the other half lives in the state. Neutral sites are rarely ever truly neutral any way. Like many have said, they could potentially add distance. JMO obviously. Good arguments for and against.

Proper size (not sloppy) any day. At some point, you have to have enough butt to play in the trenches.

It's part of it. Though our team would be hosting if we were still playing, I'm sure our kids would relish the opportunity to drive three hours to play Friday.

No need. All this would be is a way for the KHSAA to make money while taking away what makes HS football, HS football. Smaller crowds, far travel for both teams potentially. Sure people with an interest in football could come as these sites would logically be in easily accessible areas with bigger populations. But that takes away from the communities that host, who may not be able to travel that distance. Not in favor. If our school ever makes it to the Semis, I'd love for whoever to have to roll in to the Hill. Would be cramped but a lot of fun!

Nothing against Pikeville but I hope so. I love the way Paintsville plays and that would be a huge deal for their program.

You shouldn't have been afraid. He'd have been extremely nice, from my experience.

Congrats to Belfry on the win. They're the gold standard of EKY. Class Act team and staff and they deserve all the success they have. Congrats to Coach Haywood. Met him at the coaching clinic this past year and he didn't disappoint. Great coach, better person.

Great season by our kids. Nothing to be ashamed about. Great job by our kids, led by the Seniors who are some of the best kids I've ever been around. Hate that it's over for them but they've accomplished things few thought possible. They have changed the culture of the program (0-10 as freshmen, 9-3 as seniors). Lawrence was the better team tonight. Good luck to them going forward.

Never has been and never will. It's the oldest conference in KY.

What's your deal? Both coaching staffs you trash (West and Russell) have won more games this year than you likely ever have in your life. Do you coach? I seriously doubt it or you wouldn't throw stones. Didn't the Bath staff you praise on here lose to Fleming by throwing a pick inside the 10 when they have an excellent FG kicker and were only down 2?

Is Powell County not a quality team? District champ that WC put a running clock on in the 1st half.

Raiderpride posted his stats as of week 9. Added a rushing TD and three passing TDs last night. 37 total TDs, 2000+ total yards, a few INTs on defense. Returns punts. Has played three games start to finish as the other 7 were running clocks, in which he maybe played one drive of the second half. ATL does a great job with this. Just want to make sure a great player is represented.

Thanks! Our (West Carter) kids have worked extremely hard. These seniors started varsity as freshmen (0-10) and finish their careers with the best regular season in school history. Also, if you can't root for Coach Brown you have some serious problems. Great leader for our kids, makes a difference for our players on and off the field. Overall, very exciting season. In addition Powell has done some serious work this year. I thought they were really good when we played them, even if the score did get out of hand a little bit, and they have proven to be exactly that. Congrats to them as well.

No mention of Braden Brown? How many kids in KY can match is numbers? Any list of EKY players that doesn't include him is invalid IMO.

Gives us and 8-2 record, which is the best in school history (went 8-3 once, but that was in the days of being able to schedule 11 regular season games. Very excited for our kids to be able to start the playoffs. Hope we have a big crowd at home.

West wins. Tie breaker continues until win #8 for the Comets (East worth 1 point). Comets are the 1 seed.

Anyone that thinks coaching has been East's problem doesn't have a clue about football. Until last year when he played with essentially a JV team, Coach Moore kept the Raiders competitive. Didn't have a lot of wins, but very few uncompetitive games. Talent, especially at county schools runs in cycles. Both East and West, Rowan, Greenup, Lewis, Lawrence, Mason, Bath Fleming and Morgan have all had years fairly recently where there weren't many wins.

Is there any coach outside of Bath County that you feel does a good job? East had a former college HC last year, they were fine on that front. Champ is doing fine as well.
