Does East Carter get the win to finish out their season on a high note and move to 2-8 or does Fleming County build momentum for the playoffs and move to 7-3?

Being from Grayson I would love to see East get another win but I don't expect to see it.

 

I watched East vs Boyd and they can't open field tackle anyone in a phone booth.

 

East is much improved from a coaching standpoint than they were a year ago, but the execution is still a ways away.

 

East has nothin to play for. Fleming is holding out hope of a home playoff game. I expect Fleming to win but hope I am wrong. Good luck to both.

Agreed, Fleming to athletic for east.....Fleming wins.......I'm sure the JV action will be amazing for east. A new beginning.......same ending. 1-9......six year totals.......9-51. In the interest of full disclosure........the five year totals were in the ADI football preview, the math was easy, I added 1. :ylsuper:

No reason for East Carter and Lewis County not to play when they're both struggling the way they are this season. I believe that game would have been competitive this season and for years to come. Hope we resign a contract with the Raiders after next year

Agreed. West would still play Lewis if they were not in the same district. West has played every year they have had football except for one year. It's usually competitive.

Is there any coach outside of Bath County that you feel does a good job? East had a former college HC last year, they were fine on that front. Champ is doing fine as well.

I have Fleming in the Staying ALive contest, so the Panthers MUST win.

 

I think that Fleming can get their starters enough reps to stay sharp and still get the second-liners some quality reps.

I guarantee you Zack Moore has forgot more about football than you'll ever know. I have faith in Champlin but a 27 year old first time HS head coach is not a better coach than Moore. May have the community reached a little better than Moore, but Moore is coaching linebackers at a division one college right now. He just didn't have the athletes at East and a few disgruntled parents are the reason he resigned (which he didn't want to). Guy was only the HC for 4 years, which is hard at the HS level especially with how bad of a situation he took over to turn around without seeing the time and effort put into the feeder programs he did. If he ever gets back into the high school level (I doubt he will) I hope he lands somewhere with more patience and support.

Greenup Co went through something like 6 or 7 coaches after Maynard left. They finally settled in with Mullins and you see how it is paying off. Its an extremely difficult situation to rebuild a program. But all it takes is time once you find the right fit. I think they will do that with Champlin. If they dont it's their loss. Bc I think he can get the job done given the time. The JV team shows alot of promise.

Champlin is 27 so he's got a lot to learn as well. But with the enthusiasm he brings it can only do well for the program.

 

As a society we put so much emphasis on winning and losing. Is that why you play? Yes. But a high school football coaches job is more than just that. Moore didn't just talk about football. When he sat us down and talked to us when I played, it was more about that. Talked about being a good Dad, and contributing to society.

Anyone that thinks coaching has been East's problem doesn't have a clue about football. Until last year when he played with essentially a JV team, Coach Moore kept the Raiders competitive. Didn't have a lot of wins, but very few uncompetitive games.

 

Talent, especially at county schools runs in cycles. Both East and West, Rowan, Greenup, Lewis, Lawrence, Mason, Bath Fleming and Morgan have all had years fairly recently where there weren't many wins.
