In the coaching community I've never heard a bad word said about coach Graham. I don't know him but have heard nothing but good things about him.

Horton is the best I've seen. Wood and Morgan are very good. Phelps is good as well. Dalton is a freak athlete at WR. Would be nice to see Willis or Horton win it. Give it to a lineman.

It's all about the athletes that cycle through. The run Morgan had in the early-mid 2000s was a very good one and Perry coached them. Even won a regional title. Could have won another one or two as well in that time frame. Elliott has had two very strong runs of talent. That isn't going to happen every year. Same for East and West. When it's all said and done these are county schools and the talent level isn't always going to be there. Morgan was fortunate to have the best player in the region, but the rest of the team was not as complete as what Elliott, West, Boyd or Rowan have. Morgan could have won the region but they didn't. Can't be mad about that. To me, West, Morgan, Elliott, Boyd and Rowan are the class of the region. One of those five had to lose in round 1. It's kind of a shame, but that's the way it goes. If Coach Perry was doing something bad to his players, you'd have a point to run him off. But I hate to see people want a coach run off because he doesn't win enough big games. No team in the 16th should feel that entitled. Ashland has the history to feel like that perhaps, but we can all see that they are not where they have been in the past. Kids seem to play hard at Morgan and have fun. Theyve won a lot the past two years. Let that be enough.

Where these concerns when Morgan was piling up 20 wins this year?

Perhaps the best Morgan team (arguably) of all was included in that group so I wouldn't say that through out the bad ones.

If you exclude their first 5-6 years in the 62nd when they didn't make it out of the district once, the numbers probably come closer to the mean. If they didn't get rid of him after that stretch, how could they now?

As far as Perry, he seems to do a good job. To me, Morgan had the better player or two but Elliott has more players that contribute scoring. More balanced, which always helps in a one loss and you're done scenario. Morgan has nothing to be ashamed about. Great season. To slam the coaches or players is an insult to the success they've had this year playing the same way.

What many in the 16th have only recently realized is the 62nd has always been a bear. Many years the district may not have the best team in the region but it has always been tough to get out of. When Morgan came in 10 years ago they were expected to dominate. That just doesn't happen. Has only happened once over the last 20-30 years and that was the Elliott super team. Outside of that, no game at the 62nd tourney is won before it is played. Just the way it is.

To people without a natural rooting interest, West Carter would be a great team to pull for. .

Elliott at home is always tough. Great home court advantage. Basketball means a lot to the community and it's a mad house when they play. Congrats to those kids. Anyone who is shocked is remembering that Elliot is the defending region champ.

Always has been. Best district tourney the last 20 years in the 16th region. Maybe not always the best teams but always competitive. Years like this one with three region title contenders and a scrappy, well coached East team and you get a dog fight.

Height is the only thing that keeps him from being an elite prospect. As good a DL as I've seen in KY. Truly unblockable. Exceptional player.

The 16th Region rankings aren't valid. West Carter has beaten four of the 5 teams ranked above them over the last two plus weeks. 2nd best record in the region.

I think that's how it goes. Makes for a great tournament.

We are sending 3, to the best of my knowledge. Could have easily sent two more, but they are taking a vocational education path.

Hiring coaches would be the main way. In some schools potential teachers aren't hired because they coach.

Because everything else gets left behind. Sports, clubs, etc. These things improve school culture and education but are often seen as distractions that take away from learning.

Any list without Fouts is incomplete. Major SEC prospect.

It's bad that it's necessary but effort today will hopefully lead to better results and less work in the future. You can mold the younger programs in your vision and groom someone to be in charge. In our area there aren't a lot of people willing to do JFL that don't have kids in it. Choice between a different dad doing it every year and a coach, I'm taking a coach every time. We're lucky. All of our coaches are WC grads and aren't going anywhere. What's a little more work to some is maintenance for our group. Without our HS guys maintaining youth football over the years, we wouldn't have youth football or maybe even varsity football. Maybe it's not ideal, but it's necessary for our program. What I contribute in my time to JFL, does not take away from my game preparation as a defensive coach. Each coach we have has pulled double duty helping in some aspect of the younger leagues, even our HC.

In our area, if the high school staff doesn't have at least some involvement in the little league it CAN get bad. Got to really have someone good running that level. Preferably someone else, but it is so important that if the need is there the high school may have to do it.

West Carter has a shot. Tough district but they've been around the top of the 16th region all year.

Most programs have Hudl. That has replaced these services to an extent.

If you have to pay money, it's probably not worth it. Go to some combines and camps. What grade will this player be in? Most KY players are NAIA kids. Send film to in state NAIA programs, most have one day camps as well.
