  1. If UK loses it will be the turnovers that did them in. Too many possessions without a shot.
  2. Not just DL. Everywhere. Remember they play LBs as DEs too in their package. Go watch UK live. They don't look like the teams they line up against.
  3. I'll say this if Horton was from Ohio or Florida, UK and U of L would have had more interest. They'll take a shorter guy from there and pass on the KY kid. Not hating, but they've brought in plenty of guys that don't have SEC size the last few years defensively. He's short, but that's not always the kiss of death for an defensive interior lineman.
  4. I see no way that he doesn't eventually become a stud in the OVC. For my money he's the best DL KY has produced in a long time.
  5. No doubt. Plus West is without three starters/major contributors now (Nolan and Hanshaw with injuries) and Berry isn't eligible this year. That's a freshman and two sophomores who will be back next year. Future is very bright for our girls program. Coach Rayburn and the girls are doing an excellent job. Very proud of the strides they have made in their program.
  6. Every two weeks with planned meals.
  7. I home I'm wrong but this team doesn't look like a championship team to me.
  8. Same guy that promoted a basketball camp in our town that was prepaid and then never showed up but pocketed the money until our parents started calling him? That fraud?
  9. Christian Rivers. He was the backup last year.
  10. No. Nor this year I wouldn't imagine.
  11. Peyton doesn't play QB. Both the Cline boys have grown up in Olive Hill.
  12. It may have had that in there. But he's graduating.
  13. As for being oblivious, I live in a small, poor community. I see it. I've worked in a wealthy community as well. I've seen both side of the coin.
  14. You absolutely do get money. Have you taught in one of these schools or had one close by? It comes as a grant but you get it.
  15. Rural vs city is not where you see the differences IMO. It's poor rural and inner city vs. suburban. Per pupil spending isn't equal based on cost of living, and a salary is only good based on where it is. On paper a teacher in Chicago makes much more than a teacher in Ashland but do the live better on it? Why do our rural communities and inner city public score low? Why are most of the consistently low performing schools in these areas? It's common sense. I'm not advocating change just saying it's unrealistic to standardize a test to be the main evaluation of a school. Too many other factors.
  16. It's all one in the same. KY opted in as one of the first states to adopt EOC. Norm referenced testing, aligned with Common Core. It's all related. As for schools I'm SEKY, of course they struggle nationally or even statewide. Lower tax base, lower teacher pay, fewer resources than most places nationally. I doubt the teachers in those schools want their kids to fail. As a matter of fact, I'd guarantee they want them to succeed. Equality is not possible. Holding a small rural school to the same accountability as a suburban school is pointless and unfair. State departments come in and flush Millions of dollars into the district and suddenly test scores go up. It's not the teaching, it's the resources. An extremely motivated district can overcome some of these disadvantages, but long term, you're going to get a better education in an area with more money. More access and you're going to attract the best teachers because of the pay. That's what kills me about nationalized and even statewide education. It doesnt promote equality, it highlights the inequality of America or our state. Maybe that is the true goal of state and nationalized education? There's no real solution. Sure you could take money from the richer districts, but how fair is that? Shouldn't the kids of successful parents benefit?
  17. So you don't teach? Common Core sponsors ACT End of a Course testing. Now we have accountability that is based on not just EOC testing but other factors. But the tests are the biggest part of it. While funding isn't an issue, schools can now be taken over by the state department which results in a loss of job, use of millions in tax payer money, etc. What does the state focus on when they're there? Test scores.
