Self-serving of me to start this thread? Possibly but I am eager to see what folks think of Cooper's upcoming season. Can copy the schedule from the other thread, but it's beefed up from last year due to move from 5A to 6A. Replacing Grant Co. and Scott with LexCath and Bryan Station, and taking on Highlands to kick off the season.

What does Cooper need to do to improve in 2015? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Don't most believe Perrin will get the nod at QB? Even IF you win District, I see the same fate as last year in the play-offs. Wish I could say otherwise because I am a HUGE fan of D. Pleasant.

Yes, poooor Cooper...only four or five capable kids on the roster this year. What will become of us??? Last season, Prickett won the job in the final pre-season game and that worked out pretty well for the Jags. He missed a few downs and we put in an equally good back-up and even ran the wildcat a time or ten. A half a game away from Bowling Green - better than SK finished if I remember correctly with their roster chock full of D1 recruits.

Several? Cooper loses THREE starters to graduation. It's more than several on EACH side of the ball AND special teams returning. The Jags will surprise many again this fall.

Anyone know Boone's schedule for 2015? I know they are playing Conner, Cooper, Ryle, SK and Campbell Co. Who else do they have lined up? I don't expect them to be able to compete with any of the teams already listed (maybe Conner, not sure).

Who was getting "his carries" last year?? Lashunn is very talented, no doubt, but will he have the line to support him?

Apparently, Jim McMahon was quite the drop-kicker and when he was with the Packers (most don't know that ever happened!!), he would come in from warm-ups every Sunday and tell Holmgren how long he would be good for if the need should arise. Holmgren said that was the "least" of McMahon's insane behaviors!!

Favre replaced Don Majikowski, not Randy Wright.

Not even close. I honestly told him it wasn't an option, to move on and concentrate on academics after peewee ball. Pleasantly surprised at how well he's done in high school. Now that a coach or two has expressed interest and I've been telling him all along that it's not an option, I just feel bad - like I'm slighting him when I thought I was being honest. He wants to give back and coach youth football once his career is on track, and I think he has a TON of ability to do so. But IF he can play, should he?

The academic schools are like UW-Madison, Ohio State, Marquette where their career goals of engineering would be very well served. They have put just as much work into school as they have their sport and I don't want to sidetrack them at this point (Class of 2016). Other than D1 schools in KY, which are clearly out of reach for football, I don't think any stack up academically compared to what they will be offered out of state. It's a waste of A LOT of KEES money which if the scholly is what we're expecting is a moot point anyway.

If your kid plays solid high school ball but are seriously on the short side (may reach 5'8") AND they have a lot going for them academically with very specific career goals, would you bother to encourage them to pursue football any further? If they were pretty much a lock for a full ride academically to a great school, and their only shot at football (I'm assuming) is something D3ish, would you take coach calls, answer emails, etc. that express interest in them? If you've told them all their lives they probably couldn't play decent high school ball and they proved you waaaay wrong, but are prepared to move on with their lives in college/career etc. - do you spend the time investigating their major/career objectives at a school that may let them play some ball but won't be as prestigious as the one they already have thier eyes on??

Has NEVER happened for some...cough, cough....schools in Kenton County, specifically Independence.

Really? Lose a bunch to graduation? What's wrong with the upcoming Sophomore/Junior dads? Lazy, disinterested? I know at least 3 guys still on staff at the end of last season will have seniors this year. Did they get asked to take seats in the stands?

Could be, but again, versatile and making a real name for himself on the other side of the ball. I pray our days of the QB playing 48 minutes are behind us at Cooper. Kid has skills and I'm sure if he wants it, they'll give him a look.

Like last season, not sure we have a "leading candidate". From what I understand, Prickett won his job in the pre-season over Brown and Hendrix. Brown will be a senior, while Hendrix and Lonaker will be juniors. What Brown and Hendrix bring to the table that perhaps Lonaker does not, is the ability to play defense and special teams in addition to multiple offensive positions. Is that a plus or a minus?? Cooper has lost very little to graduation in MY opinion. Hoping for fewer, less impactful injuries in 2015.

Hendrix has incredible potential - the only issue is he can play ANYWHERE and be a huge threat to every defense he encounters. He is also great on special teams AND defense. I, for one, wouldn't want Cooper's QB in all those roles again (ala Morris). I like the young Lonaker, and think Brown is talented as well.

I think Cooper is very confident in the talent they have coming up at QB. Granted, no one wants a one and done QB, but the last two did quite nicely. Ludwig has school's passing record and Prickett took the Jags as far as they could go. Nothing in the Pulaski loss was on him. When I asked Borchers about the "prodigy" possibly en route to his door, he wasn't the least bit informed or even interested. Cooper has at least three viable options for next year....may the best man win!!
