Upcoming camps in Northern Kentucky / Cincinnati Area?

Featured Replies

Can anyone help with info on upcoming Spring or Summer football camps in the Northern Kentucky/ Cincinnati area?

I'm aware of the NUC camps having participated in the Cinti camp at Princeton HS last Spring. Not a huge fan of that group honestly. Seems that those who are willing to pay for all the additional clinics seem to magically vault up the NUC status ladder.

Running them thru timed 40's and Shuttles has its time and place- I guess I'm more interested in camps that will focus on development or skill sets.

Thanks in advance.

Check out Offensive/Defensive camp held at Thomas Moore. Two day contact camp.

Sorry. Correction, Thomas Moore has gone to non contact camp.

I'll be putting together the list of all one-day college-sponsored camps in Ky and the surrounding states that I send to all Ky HS coaches but those dates aren't usually known for me to start compiling it until late March/early April.

As to the camps held in the spring that kids pay $$ to attend where there are zero college coaches to evaluate the talent, I heard this said by a guy who counsels HS athletes: "People holding camps and combines for High School players before June 2014 need YOU more than you need THEM!" and "College Camps are in June. Scam camps are held now by people looking to take advantage of desperate prospects and parents."

I tell my players that if you can go to one of these PAY combines in the spring and be the top 40-time or height/weight at your position, maybe it'd be worth it. Otherwise, I don't see the benefit (other than getting experience doing the drills -- which high school coaches should be putting their guys through anyway!).

We had a good kid two years ago get "Defensive MVP" of one of these camps. When I told a college coach that he rolled his eyes and said, "Well, he paid dearly for that little medal they gave him, but that tells me nothing I need to know."

Thanks- those were my feelings after the NUC Camp

Wow, had different experience at the NUC camp. Was a nice springboard to bigger things.

Not disputing that you did, but just wondering in what way specifically did the NUC camp help you?

I know it's probably good practice for doing combine-type events, but did it somehow cause more colleges to know who you were?

100% agree the NUC camps serve little purpose BUT I have found a small benefit. It is true there are 0 college coaches there so nobody is getting scholarships from these. First if you have a young player who has never been to a college camp, NUC can serve as a tune up for college summer camps and calm some nerves and give some prep before hitting the summer camps. The 2nd benefit is top MVPs from the NUC camps can earn a free NCSA Scouting program which can be worth ~$1500+ not to mention the wealth of CORRECT advice, information and access to every coach at every level through the recruiting process which really you can place no value on.

The NUC camps are very inexpensive with there discounts ~$30. I do not recommend participating in their 5-star, top 100, or top elite camp in Oklahoma. These are simply money makers. Save those funds for summer camps at colleges.

I speak from personal experience not hearsay.

Trickey/Wright QB Camp is "outstanding". Jeff Trickey is a coach from the Wisconsin area. Teaches fundamentals, technique, footwork, etc.. More importantly he teaches, "leadership and accepting the challenge of being a leader". He doesn't believe in "showcase" camps. Really wants the kids to develop. Recently (last year) combined his National Camp to include a pretty good QB out of the University of Wisconsin, Randy Wright. Randy QB'd the Green Bay Packers for several years before giving up his job to a guy named Bret Favre. Randy brings a "Big Time" NFL perspective to help solidify the principals of what coach Trickey is teaching in his camps. My Son has attended for the past 4 yrs. Only a Soph, but plan on him attending then next 2 years and possibly joining the local staff if coach Trickey/Wright will have him. Coach Trickey/Wright preach more than Football. Literally have goosebumps each year when they tell life changing stories and drive home the impact a young person can have by "accepting the role of being a leader". Not too expensive. Usually host at Anderson High School in Cincy. Early May if my memory serves me correct. Implemented WR's for the first time last year. Watched the "live" training and was impressed with the teaching and staff. Several NFL/Big Time college veterans as instructors. Google Trickey/Wright Camp for dates. No . Love the principals/fundamentals taught. Only wish is that it wasn't a weekend only camp. Usually, Sat 8-12 and Sun 9-1. Believer and will continue to send my sons. Oldest attended twice. Middle has attended 3 years. Youngest in his third year and only in 5th grade. Repetition sticks. Worth every nickle.

Great insight- thanks! Any idea whether they might include RB's in the fold?

Thought I would do a search before I started a new thread. So I'm bumping this thread.

We had the same experience from NUC. He excelled there, and college recruiters were impressed with how well he did there, as well as their individual camps. Plus, the multiple NUC camps prepared him for the college camp "trench" competitions.

Favre replaced Don Majikowski, not Randy Wright.
