Via Dyaste and the team twitter, MATTS Mustangs won the 15u by beating Team Nashville, the Louisville Spartans, and TN Pyro. I haven't seen updates from the others.

Guess coach Stallworth won't request that match up again. Wow.

I would be mad if I traveled from KY to Atlanta and my first pool game was against another KY team.

Was he loyal to the last head coach?

I've seen him play a lot over the years. He never plays hard. If he did, maybe they'd let him play up.

They're good, but they had zero chance of winning 17u. Hoop Dreams, the Ville, and the Magic are on a little different level than they are. Should've played 16u.

I watched that game. Spartans played well, but it was really badly officiated. Really, it was terrible. The refs let the Spartans play really physical while Matts got called for a foul if there was any contact. There was also a blatant goal tend on the Spartans that didn't get called, and on the potential game winning play for matts, the Spartans had 6 players on the floor, but it didn't get called either. Both of those teams are really good. It's a shame unqualified refs get to work tournaments that matter so much. I have no tie to either team, so I didn't lose any sleep over it. But I was really looking forward to a Matts/Louisville Magic championship game. I'll probably head back up today and watch some games. I enjoyed being able to watch all the marquee teams in their pool games. Whoever does the scheduling at KBA, does a great job. But that nightcap ruined the day. That Matts team is really dynamic. I also saw that the Travelers didn't so hot playing 17u. But that's ok... "We were playing up" was uttered a few times I'm sure.

Jefferson County interesting though. You don't have to teach. They could find him a job in the building. Could be security, ISAP, community resources, etc.

Good for him. That program was utterly chaotic this year. Kids transferring out, and the coach only seemed to care about his kid putting up numbers. Maybe the next guy will actually try to build a program at Thomas Nelson.

The Attucks Wolfpack are usually a competitive bunch. I don't think they'll be an easy out.

Too many unrealistic parents. It's always been that way, but with Facebook, twitter, message boards, etc. it's a lot easier to create a mutiny. A head coach has to have unwavering support of the administration, and have a thick skin. Winning takes time. You can't just assemble talent, and expect to win every year. (I'm looking at you mountains). Bringing in new ayers every year just makes it more frustrating because you alienate the core support.

Playing up is always funny to me. When the team loses, there's a built in excuse "we were playing up".

I've heard 2nd hand that they're doing interviews Monday. Don't know how reliable that is. They're young. Could be a good job, but it doesn't pay well at all.

I saw the schedule on KBA. Barely any teams in it. I'm sure some will use it as a tune up for next week.

Offers as a freshman and soph are basically prospective offers based on upside. They can go away as quickly as they're given out. Goodin is a really good player, but he has a ways to go. As do all the younger kids. He'll be fine. He's definitely a D1 guy.

I completely understand that. My point was, it's goofy to hold a tournament that your teams aren't even playing in.

That's weird that St Louis Eagles hold a tournament while they didn't even play in it. 16u was in Chicago, and the EYBL team was in Sacramento. Just doesn't make sense to me. Did they at least have a B team in it?

I walked by earlier and Manimal was beating the snot out of some poor team. They're fun to watch. Play hard.
