I have to say I honestly feel a little bad for New Cath. This schedule they have this month is rough. Playing 8 games in 17 days is crazy and not to mention ending the season with 4 road games. Tonight will be their 3rd game in a row 4 in the last 5 days and 5 in the last 7.

Was anybody at the game to give details? Also, anybody have any details on why Newport Central Catholic is struggling as of late?

Thats good to hear Frank! I enjoy watching this Boone Co. team and I look forward to watching them in the District and hopefully the Regionals!

I wish I could have made the trip down but from what I was told it as a great game to watch. Seems like Boone had trouble getting Nash going and that seems to be what they needed against Marion. Also I heard that they let Goodin-Rogers do whatever she wanted. Nice to see they kept it close with the foul trouble that Boone had going into halftime. Question is can Boone get things together after this loss and get mentaally ready for districts and regionals?

When exactly do they draw and how do we find out the results? Any newspapers or websites we can go to and look?

I have not seen Peacock play but a few games one in which was vs Boone Co. and I will give credit where its due in saying I dont think there is anyone in the 9th that can guard Moss, BUT I will also say she never gave up on it! I would say looking at the numbers she is a top 10 player in the region. Close but I cant quite give her that top 5 spot. In my order Moss 24.6 PPG, 10.9 RPG Crittenden 17.3 PPG, 5 RPG Schafer 15.8 PPG, 7.8 RPG Kierman 16.4 PPG, 10 RPG Voskuhl 17.2 PPG, 5 RPG Nash 12.8 PPG, 6.4 RPG Peacock 12 PPG Daley 10.5 PPG, 5.5 RPG I'm not taking anything away from her. I do feel like she is one of the better 2 guards in the 9th but with what I have seen and the numbers the other girls put up I can only say shes a top 10 player not a top 5. BUT this is just one persons opinion.

9th Region coach of the year could be a real discussion! Also, these are in no particular order. Coach Lavendusky for Notre Dame. She has a nice group of girls and she is finding herself with only one 5 point loss to Boone Co. Coach Fooke Boone Co. She has the Lady Rebels out to a 19-1 start and knocking on the door of that top 5 spot in the State. Coach Oliverio Ryle. She has had to deal with some injury issues what with Cheesman and Crittendon and she also playing against some tough competition still rocking a 17-3 record. Coach Richey Highlands. Dealt with a devastaing hit when she lost her starting PG to a torn ACL but she has a nice cast of young girls and even though the record doesnt refelct how good this team is or in my opinion will be in the future she deserves some recognition for the job shes doing this year. Coach Dawn Newport Central Catholic. Has his girls off to an 11-4 record with close losses to Boone Co and Conner. Has his girls once again going to the All A classic Championship Coach Stamm Conner. He has done some good things at Conner this year. Hes got his girls at 16-4 with 2 regional losses to Ryle and Highlands. By that record it means that 3 of the top 4 teams in the 9th Region are in the 33rd District which is going to make for an interesting tourney at years end. So thats at least my opinion of the 9th Region. Chaulk full of great coaching doing great things going to be interesting to see who all makes it to Regional tourney and who comes out of it.

Could possibly be 3 straight! If Manual doesnt re-focus they could possibly in my view. They have a tough game against the Ryle Lady Raiders and I'm not sure how many of you know anything about them but it could quite possible be a hard fought game. This seems to be a tough part of the schedule for Manual. Playing 3 of the top ten teams in the state all in a row. Hopefullt they can get back on track BUT just know Ryle isnt a team that your going to walk into the gym a beat easily

You would think! I was lucky enough to get the night off so I traveled up to Boone to watch this game. It was a great game between two of the best teams in the 9th Region. I was really disappointed in the officiating to be honest with you. I felt like they really let the fact that this was a huge 9th Region game they let it play out way toooo much. I dont like complaining about officiting because I was one myself back in the day. I know it wasnt Burke but one of the other guys was AWFUL! In the first half he started off being really one sided against Boone and he called a really cheap foul on Nash in the first qtr. ANd by the look on Coach Fookes face it seemed like she knew it was going to be one of thsoe nights. From my angle when Moss went down she was clearly fouled but with a stong player like her she often doesnt get a lot of calls and I think she has adjusted her play accordingly. Seems like after she returned they desided to protect her a little more. NDA was also getting a hard way to go on calls. A few pretty cheap fouls here and there and when they did get called for them it seemed to be them making up for not calling a previous one. I enjoyed watching Moss play as I do every time and it was nice to see how much Voskuhll has improved. If there was an award for most improved player from last year then she has my vote. Really improved her game by adding that mid range jumper. Seem to catch Boone off guard and she lit it up. Also congrats to Miss Moss I saw her accept an award from her fellow Seniors for becoming the all time leader at Boone which from what I heard was in place sine '98? Seems like with all the teams Coach Fookes has had and that record stood for that long. Moss with 12 reg season games left will probably set the mark high enough so that it wont be touched for a while if ever. Great game to go watch and the 9th Region tourney this year seems like its building up to be one for the ages!

Looks like the Manual/Marion Co. game is going to be a good ole fashion barn burner!

Be interesting to see how things shift around after this weekends match ups. I know Manual travels to Marion Co./ Notre Dame heads over to Boone Co. and Ryle has a tough District game vs Conner. So like I said be interesting to see your top 20 next week. Any other top 20 games this weekend?

Lets not look.over the fact that manual has to travel to Marion co. This year on Jan 14th could be a preview of the state championship game!

Moss finished with 38 points 16 rebounds and 6 blocks. Mitchell had 30 but if not for foul trouble in the second half she could have easily had 40 in my opinion. Boone did everything they could but she was just on tonight. Jones didnt have a very good game but the younger guards came in and stepped up. Need to hit one or two more shots in the 4th qtr and Boone may have pulled it out but when they had to foul at the end Princeton didnt miss a free throw. Great game all around and good luck to both teams on the rest of the season.

I'm going to say Princeton by 12. For these reasons Boone is missing their 2 best shooters from last year and nobody has stepped up for Boone to fill that void just yet. I'm sure Ms.Moss will get her points as with Lydia Nash but Zuri has been somewhat inconsistant with her put backs after offensive rebounds. If she can find away to convert all of those boards then she may be able to fill that void. Also looking for signs of a shooter other than Sydney. Looking at Princeton on paper they are very solid and Mitchell is a flat out player! and the rest of the team seems to be very balanced and they are also big in size and quick so if theyt put some pressure on Boone it may be a long night for those guards.

Great game to watch if you did or didn't have any interest in it. Ryle played a hard fought game and defended their home court well. Got down early in the game but battled back and even took the lead a few times. Mullins foul trouble did indeed keep him down as far as his points are concerned but Ryle seem to play as a team and didnt seem to always want to rely on Mullins for points. I am not sure of these kids names but #13 for Ryle had a nice game and with his size he had his way on the boards. Also, #22 had a good night shooting from behind the arch and even got the game winning shot off at the end of OT but just missed. Boone's team was a little more interesting to me though. If any of you recall last years team was full of heigth and size. This years team is focused more on the dribble drive and just running their opponent into the ground. I was really impressed with the two guards for Boone they seemed to both keep their cool and control the team even when they lost the lead. Downs stepped up and hit an amazing shot at the end to tie the game before OT. I dont think Ryle was quite ready for that style of play either. Seemed like Ryle was sucking wind mid way through the 2nd qtr. but Coach Mullins must have had a nice halftime speech cause they came out of the locker room ready! Boone is a lot quicker and seem to be more aggressive this year. McQuery seemed to have added more of an aggressive style of attcking the basket to his game which he needed. I didnt watch much of Ryle last year so I am not sure what they had added or lost but this was def a must see game. I know I hope to make it to the Jan 3rd rematch at Boone. Hope the teams in the 9th region are watching because Ryle and Boone seem to be def contenders to go to state.

January 13th Notre Dame at Boone Co. Last year Boone just escaped @NDA with a 49-47 win. Got to see Sydney Moss hit a nice 12 foot jumper at the end of the game to seal it for Boone. With both teams returning a few key players and with Boone adding a few new faces and ND bringing up some players for a great JV team last year it will be interesting to see how this one goes come January.
