Brossart. They are set to go on a nice little run for the next 3-4 years. Still can't compete with the big schools or traditional powers, and schedule still soft, but in the 10th, they would have to be the favorite.

The Volleyball coaches have their pre-season poll out. Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association. man is it a mess. Can someone explain how St. Henry can be ranked ahead of NDA in the state, but behind them in the region? NCC and Greenwood ranked way too high . . . NDA 9th is too low . . .

Who cares what the rest of the commonwealth thinks! In Volleyball, state worthy teams from NKY and Lville are left home all of the time, just so the winner from region 1 or 16 can go to state. Everyone on here defends it and says "well, that's the way it's set up" So, if the state re-aligns the 8th, 9th, and 10th and it happens to spread out the talented Kenton Co teams where more of them have a chance to go, I say good. They deserve to go. And as usual, my fix for all of this is . . . . add at large bids for volleyball and basketball (and all of the rest of the sports while we're at it.) 16 regional winners and 8 at large bids to include more teams from the deeper regions - makes it an exciting 24 team tourney. Longer tourney, more teams and interest, and more $$$ for the KHSAA. win-win-win for all.

Agree. 1 meeting in 8th grade doesn't tell the story. And the earlier post about HHS is dead on too - I'd take those 8th graders playing together (which they didn't do because they all moved up) over Saint Mary. Don't get ahead of yourself BBHS lovers. The difference maker from Saint Mary is going to NCC.

That actually happens alot in Club Volleyball . . . the NKYVC 13's were playing up in 14's, NKYVC 14's were playing up in 15's, and NKYVC 15's were playing up in 16's. And they all did well. You play up to (hopefully) face some tough competition to get ready for Nationals which start next week. When they scrimmage each other however, the 15's beat the 14's, and the 14's beat the 13's. What most people don't realize, or choose to believe, is that the 13's (7th graders) and the 14's (8th graders) would beat 80% of the Varsity HS teams in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Pull 10 random schools out of a hat, and they would go 8-2 in 3 set matches.

NDA, St. Henry, Dixie, maybe BBHS? Whoever said NCC has to be joking. And what's happened to Highlands? They used to be up there.

Continuation is right - a continuation of boasts of Freshman Championships, JV Championships, and now summer league Championships, none of which are accurate predictors of how your Varisty team will do, which is really, the only thing that matters. I am on record stating I think BBHS has a bright future and will get better in 2012-2013, and the year after that. But it's all realitive - your record gets fat feasting on terrible teams, some you have to play, some you don't. You're good, but you're small school good. And I don't know if you are even that - you still can't beat NCC or St. Henry, let alone any of the bigger schools in Boone or Kenton Co. Go play a healthy Highlands team this year and let's see what happens there too. I guess going 20-7 and not beating anyone good just doesn't do it for me. As I said last season - beat someone good, then maybe I'll believe.

That fine, it's always on me, I can take it. I'd love to see it happen and am happy for both teams. If it does happen, and you are not going to Lexington, I think it would be great if everyone went to St. Joe's 5pm Mass on Sat to watch the 2 worlds collide!

I'll say it . . . BBHS vs NCC for the heavyweight title of the Universe! Have 2 NKY teams ever met in any sport for the state championship? Let alone arch rivals? If this ever happens, Campbell County will be on full lockdown for years, and St. Joseph in Cold Spring may very well implode and cease to exist. The school, the church, even St. Joe himself - poof! gone.

See, I read it the other way. AAU/Club/select/travel teams I think teach more about commitment and team than any HS ever could. The practices are tougher, the demands across the board are higher, and so is the reward. Everyone on the team gives a darn, otherwise they wouldn't be there. You can't say that about many HS teams. Someone posted somewhere on here awhile back that you used to play AAU/Club/select/travel to stay in shape and get ready for HS tryouts. Now, it's the other way around. And I'm fine with that.

Are you going to stand by that statement? You saying the kids that play club/select/travel/AAU, who are essentially playing year round, aren't any better than kids that only play in HS? I'm pretty sure at any HS, in any sport, it's easy to see who is playing their sport more than just in HS. For every kid you say is burnt out, I can show you 5 who love it and can't get enough.

I agree that does happen, but if it does, you need to go find a better team. Unless your kids is being showcased.

No issues for soccer or volleyball. The solution is to make KY girls softball a fall sport, after the club/travel/AAU season. For all of you BREATHLESS that a player would choose a club/travel/AAU team over their HS team, you must not have a kid playing at that level. Given the amount of money, time, and commitment it takes to play club/travel/AAU, it's always going to come first. They aren't handing out college scholarships at HS softball, soccer, basketball, and volleyball games - they are on the club/travel/AAU teams. Follow the money.

So according to my math, that's 8 D1 players off of last fall's NDA team - with 4 of them returning this fall. Take notice rest of state, unless your school name begins with Assumption, St. Henry, or maybe Ryle, you do not want any part of the Pandas this fall. State championship will boil down to 2 regions, as always. Too bad, they really should add extra at-large bids to state to teams from NKY and LVille - would get more better teams in tourney, and make for a better tourney.

The weeks are set. All district play has to occur during a set week, but it's up to each district to schedule the games inside of that week. You could play every day, every other day, early in the week, later in the week..there was ample room to be flexible.

Well, they were 17-14 last year - I wouldn't call that too exciting. They only lost 2 seniors, so they should have good returning talent. Their biggest wins last year were over Scott and Dixie Heights, with the latter getting revenge in the playoffs. I say they will win a couple of more games than last year. Villa is a small, small school that can beat the bad teams, and get beat by the good teams.
